Its funny when you realize that these people think that videogames is for kids/young adults. A medium that was once targetted primarily to youths has now grown just like the orignal target audience has. We are pong generation all grown up we have jobs we have families and dammit we want our f'nin video games.
Are we going to let our 5 year old play Manhunt.. probably not, but should we have the government decide what we can play and what we should not. Hell no.
If Lieberman has a problem with violent video games then get the retailers to be more strict in enforcing the ratings. Video games should be classified like movies are classified, get rid of the game specific ratings and adopt the movie rating system. So then parents will have a better clue what there kids should play..
"Hmmm rated Teen.. what the hell does that mean.. rated R, well that means my kid isn't going to watch this."
This is a pretty big change to SWG, personally I would be pretty damn miffed if I had played SOEs little holocron collecting game and mastered and nuked multiple classes just to unlock a force sensitive slot, especially since how mind numbingly boring playing alot of these classes is.
I feel for anyone that got there holocron and it said.. level a up a Chef, or ugh... Droid engineer.
"Also, in some of the RPGs I've played, the monsters get stronger as I get stronger. That's ridiculous. I understand meeting new monsters that are stronger but when the little slime you had a hard time with at level 1 is still giving you a hard time at level 20, that's just plain ridiculous. Even worse is that you still get the same xp and gp. "
The Lunar Series has this feature, and IMO it made the game better since you couldn't just level like mad and walkt through the game like a certain incredibly popular RPG series. (In FFX I one shotted the final Seymour form.. that was disapointing.)
With their shiney Phantom Console.. which was never turned on. Personally I enjoy the "Phantom Unveiled" video they have at www.infiniumlabs.com definately sold me on the system.. heh
"The problem is when movie producers stick too firmly to the game instead of just using the world, the general mood and/or possibly the heroes/villains. Sometimes they are forgetting that a movie does not necessarily turn out a big hit just because the game is a hit "
Name one game to movie film that followed the game it was based on closely... Maybe Tomb Raider? and that one was fairly successful.
Supporting your view is Resident Evil where they had no characters from the orignal game and made it a percursor to the orignal Racoon City Incident. (IMO it worked despite its flaws) If you read Romero's orignal script he took the orignal characters and butchered them.
Mario Bros wasn't about the game Neither was Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, House of the Dead. Out of all of those I would consider MK being the most successful out of them all.. which isn't saying much.
Oh yea too bad those costume designers, stuntmen, gaffers, key grips and whatever already got paid by the time the film is released. They can bite my nut, if I really want to pay an arm and a leg for a trip to the theatre it won't be for alot of the crap that has been released as of late.
Apprently these guys where at the CES show in Vegas this year showing off. Does anyone have an actual sighting perhaps something grainy, blurry and easily mistaken for a log in the water?
There is a PS2 game that uses something like this.

I worked for the company for quite some time and there was a little incident regarding FOX and BBV that I would like to retell.
Blockbuster pretty much has deals with all the movie companies (profit sharing, things like that) but for a time FOX had refused to sign on with BBV. At the time FOX was just about to release Lake Placid for the rental market BBV had orginally slated the title as a "Guarenteed in Stock" title that means there would have been a ton of this title in the stores for rental and FOX would have cashed in quite nicely.
BBV wanted FOX to sign on like the other companies so they dropped the title from guarenteed status and ended up getting one or two of this title in each store effectively screwing FOX out of millions of dollars in rental revinue.
Needless to say they signed on shortly after.
I could see BBV pulling this off if they play hardball.
". I can sit in my seat and absolutely hate everything that Lecter does, but when I'm playing a game where I'm forced to decapitate, strangle, and brutalise other individuals, then I have no choice but to become involved in that world. "
Forced? I didn't realize Rockstar Games had a feature that forced you to play this game. If the theme of the game is something you want to part of then by all means don't play it. Done and done, Parents are the end all be all of this. If they do not want there kids playing this then they are the ones that have to enforce it upon the kids.. not a blanket ban.
Personally I think they are the worst for listening too much to the whiners.
How many Nerfs can you name happened to classes just because some people got killed in RVR by said class.
Its always the people who got smoked in a PVP situation that will cry the loudest.. doesn't matter what the circumstances of the kill were they will scream and yell and cause a fuss until Mythic nerfs the offending class.
if the items hold no value for those outside of the system then why have an outside system deal with the conflicts in this internal system.
have the game company create there own laws and systems for dealing with these problems, alot of this crap falls under the EULA for these games, lets keep it to the company who creates this stuff.. Its there world, not reality, therefore problems need to be adressed by the world creators.

Yup it was shit.. and most movies that ended up getting the "guarenteed in stock" flag are like that because they are shit..
Example-Beautician and the beast was Guarenteed..
I worked for the company for quite some time and there was a little incident regarding FOX and BBV that I would like to retell.

They actually released it.. unforunately it was stored incorrectly... and instead of aging into a fine wine, all we got was a bottle of vinegar.
"If you choose to play the game then you're forced to murder"
I can name a ton of games where you "Murder" albiet they may not have it as graphic as in this POS game.
". I can sit in my seat and absolutely hate everything that Lecter does, but when I'm playing a game where I'm forced to decapitate, strangle, and brutalise other individuals, then I have no choice but to become involved in that world.

it will save the people from playing a crappy gimmick game, kinda like how Acclaim stopped making games for the gamecube.. they are doing us a favor.
OK somebody has to have some DeathHeads to rain upon SCO's tank.
Since when did Gord own a Warehouse.
This is like trying to sue the roads because of what type of cars drive on it.
Personally I think they are the worst for listening too much to the whiners.

Exactly how much the RIAA pays off chumps like Orrin Hatch.
Must be nice having a senator in your pocket....
If I recall "Gone Gold" means they have pressed the master CD for this game.
How long will it be before these are moved to India. :P /joking
