behold the NForce 3 pro. It was the first(?) chipset supporting the Opteron, has many of the features you mention. As for having support for legacy, etc; that's the choice of the motherboard manufacturers. As an example, the Asus A7N8X only has 3 dimm slots, whereas the Gigabyte GA-7N400-l1 has 4.
BTW, for if you really want a legacy free mb, you'll want to check out abit's offering, the AT7. It may not be the latest greatest, and it may not fit your vision of 'legacy-free', nor is it the ideal board you describe. However, its as close as we'll get for now.
A question for you. With all of those onboard components, why do you need 6 pci's(also getting to be legacy at this point)?
It was a great game, I got it for christmas one year. What a great game for its day. The fully rendered 3d house was a beautiful sight. And how can you go wrong with having live actors develop the storyline? Cheesy acting, yes. Cutting edge graphics, yes. I can remember playing it on my dad's 486 dx/100 with 24(!) mb of fpm ram. Man that was a scream machine.
No. I was just the reading comments here, and heard the sounds of asteroids, thats right asteroids coming from the tv. turned around, and saw just what i expected, there was a game of asteriods being played on tv. just as normal, until i heard the sound of a ufo comin. i waited, but no ufo came. instead an suv drove onto the screen and chased the spaceship off of the screen. it was a hummer commercial. these games are very much a part of our culture.
running apache, server and continually clearing logs, from those worms that decide to fill it, from various windoze users. It's really annoying, even though its not linux' fauld that its not vulnerable the way windoze is.
It is my business if the software they install on the computer breaks it. And to all of you who think that I'm snooping through these people's computers, name a p2p app that doesnt put an icon on the desktop or a process in the system tray. It's hard not to notice when its staring you in the face.
Are you kidding me? The only reason people bring their computer in to me in the first place is because they cant do what they want to for one reason or another. I see the removal of spyware, freeing system resources, etc. as a favor. If it happens to break whatever p2p app they have on there, then thats an unfortunate(?) side effect. I'm not gonna stop them from reinstalling it, but theyre gonna pay if said reinstall breaks their computer again.
I tell these people it's illegal to download copyrighted material, but it's not my job to enforce it. Even still, if I backup and restore this data for whatever reason, arent i making myself accessory to these crimes? Very rarely do my customers have any legitimate data to be backed up.
And WTF, linking to my own comment, saying that I dont accept my own principles? Thats just funny.
Helluva troll, I must say.

I work in a computer repair shop, and I notice(and subsequently break using ad-aware) some kind of P2P app on about 3 out of 5 computers that come into my shop. When I confront these people, mostly mature adults, about the legality of their actions; there seems to be 3 common responses.
-Play Dumb: "Really?! Thats illegal?!" -Scapegoat: "Its my damn kids again. Ill give 'em hell for this!" -Repentitiveness: "Well is there any legal way to download this music?"
The first 2 responses are just a reaction people give instead of showing shame and guilt. It is very rare that someone gives the third response. However when they do I am very helpful. I am very eager to tell people about the many venues (sometimes) free music can be obtained. I'll spare you guys, because you are already aware of iTMS, etc.
It's basically like searching for a PCI non-Winmodem these days.
some order in a world of chaos.. i work in a repair/retail store and we have pci non-winmodems aplenty(and they sell). We even have legacy isa modems, in case ya wanna get that 486 goin.
At the other end of the spectrum, we try to research everything and stock the most compatible h/w available.
UT is being hit with a penalty, but its no fine or jail time. They're suffering a huge blemish on their reputation. IMHO, a hit to one's reputation is jsut as bad as being convicted of some crime. People think UT now, they think "insecure network, i wouldnt trust them with my info if ya paid me." No one takes this type of think lightly, and those who know about this will probably reconsider applying for admission or a job there. They've got some serious makin up to do.

The test site linked to above didn't work(i should've gotten a popup, right?) using Opera 6.05 and Norton Internet Security 2003.
I DEFY ANYONE TO STOP ME FROM DOING WHAT I CHOOSE WITH MY PC, BE IT LEGAL OR ILLEGAL.
It is the eternal battle of the popup vs. the anti-popup vs. the anti-anti-popup. These people will block my popup blocker. I, in turn will get a popup blocker-blocker and will have the last word. That is, until, they come out with a way to block my popup blocker-blocker. This will continue until everything becomes so bloated that my P ][ cant handle it anymore.
I use windows because i know how to fix it. Put me in front of a linux box with a bad NIC driver and say fix it, i'd format it. Package installation is another issue i have. i had a devil of a time installing the JRE, could never get it working properly with the program i wanted to use. I am also a very visual person, and in windows, everything has an icon.
thank you, you just convinced me to put my Voodoo back in, in favor of the GF3, solely for the performance gains i will get in diablo 2. you are right. FUCK PROGRESSION!!!!
All i can say about this is using my voodoo 3 2000 OC'ed to 233 and OpenGL, i was pullin 80-90 fps just standin idle in Diablo ][. I went out and got me a GF3 Ti200, thinkin it was gonna easily be over 100 fps. Wrong. First it forced me to use DX8. Was only givin me like 30 TOPS, and skippin frames like crazy whenever i moved. This was with the stock driver that came with the card, so i went and got the latest ones, thinkg that it would perform better. SYNTAX ERROR: Try using '-please' next time. My hunch is that either i need a new mobo w/ a faster AGP slot/CPU(1x/PII 450 at the moment) or somehow figure out how to make this game and card work together under OpenGL. I cant wait to try OpenGL 2.0. Just hope D2(and my card) is supported(or vice versa).
hey man, get yer head on straight. dont fuck him, just fuck him.

maybe the prices of image editing applications will drop slightly when corporations don't have to pay fees to Unisys."
Then again, it may mean higher margins for the companies that make these apps.
