Do you know how much Blockbuster makes on late fees? It's the same principle - you can only have a fixed number of movies out at a time, so while your average customer could easily watch more than five movies a month, they will never get more than five movies a month because of logistical issues (finding time to watch, putting it off since there are no late fees, forgetting to send the movie back day after day, etc. etc.)
I think it's very safe to assume the average customer will end up watching five or less per month.
Jeez you even linked to the main DV page that would have explained it and you still missed the point. It's for users that prefer PCs. It's not Adobe corporate policy or anything. It's just mean to reassure PC users that, yes, your machine kicks ass with Adobe products.

The "NT password change linux boot disk" is an essential tool for any NT admin. Maybe I should post a vulnerability report for that! OMG it's so easy to download and set up! I just got root on one of my own servers! OMG!
From what I have seen, only the Mac laptops are a better "value" than comparable Wintel laptops. Considering all the features (firewire, etc.) that the iBook comes with, it's probably the best value on the market. Desktops - not so much, I'd say.
There is no version of Quark for OSX (yet!). Sure you can run it in Classic, but that's one of the biggest gripes pro Mac users have these days. Of course, that doesn't mean graphics pros are switching to XP - it just means they aren't quite as sold on OSX as Apple would like them to be.
I won't argue on the ease of use and the interoperability. You can argue both ways, but I think you can make a good case for the Mac there.
It's hard to be objective when it's your credit card that's been stolen, though. I'll go one step more; it's in rather poor taste to even ask the victim to be objective here (assuming the story is true, of course). Even if I would be happy to know about exploits in the credit card system, I would rather my card just didn't get stolen in the first place. You don't have to actually publicize stolen information to demonstrate an exploit.
An "anonymous coward" implying that someone else is a coward. Hmm. I think that's worth a snide remark or two. Maybe the irony is just a little too obvious and blunt, and it's not a very funny joke, but the point stands.
I didn't see any TV coverage on 9/11 until a bunch of us from work decided to go eat lunch at a bar that had TVs. I relied on the bbc website, and a few npr radio streams to get info. Not everyone has a TV (or even a radio) at work!
On a side note, the washington post website was one of the few to withstand the heavy traffic quite well - they already had some serious load balancing set up and ready to go IIRC. The bbc site wasn't too bad either - when things first happened, it was the only one that would load at all!
It's actually the opposite. The price difference is very noticeable on the desktop side, whereas for laptops they are quite comparable (features for the money). Shop around - compare specs and you'll soon find out that it's hard to find a "Windows" laptop that meets an iBooks' features for a lower price.
AFAIK, Halo for the PC has not been canceled yet. Information from Bungie employees indicates it's still on track.
If they decide to actually cancel Halo for the PC, then yes, I will agree that Bungie sucks. Until then, however, I will remember Marathon fondly and still hold out hope for a PC (or PC/Mac) Halo.
If you are "lucky" enough to work for a small business, you get to be sysadmin and helpdesk! You also get to be in charge of wiring, phone systems, physical security, the whole nine yards. Fun!
Well, that was good, but I liked the yellow spandex uniform joke even better.;-)
another (better) book by the same author...

I think Thank You For Smoking is a better (and funnier) book by the same author. Good stuff: "death" lobbyists, advertising, evil plots, dangerous nicotine patches, etc. etc.
Well, you should at least try Startide Rising or The Uplift War. You still might not like his writing, but I can tell you that both of those books are far better than the two you mentioned.

C'mon now, that really wouldn't be much of a fight, unless the Autobots have built some new "Saturn" Transformers that I haven't heard about.

f*cking new guy
It really reassures me to know there is a Slashdot user account dedicated to the sole purpose of exposing Alanis-irony. ;-)
There are two mistakes in the first two paragraphs alone: "truely" and "insundry").
Or at the very least "-1 TMI"

Well, the 9-5s are nice ;-)
So, you're saying that's why the webserver is down? BarMonkey too busy trying to make tea? ;-)
Actually, the real point of all these devices is to get the thief to move on to an easier car to steal, like, say, the one next to yours!

Pretty cool, I always like when "serious" sites review toys and neat gadgets - although I usually check out Dan's Data for that kind of thing.
I was kind of surprised to see it on Extreme Tech this morning.

Although you have re-posted the funny part in your "correction", so I hope not. ;-)
Actually, "cromulent" might be a better choice for this particular interview.
You are smart enough to get into Harvard but not smart enough to know how to find this out?

Please cross the river immediately and sign up at BU.
