    I have to agree with this. Manufacturers of peripherals don't usually provide Linux drivers for their products.

    There are some generic drivers but their functionality can be limited.

    I found this out when I tried to connect my Canon wireless printer to Linux.

    No drivers for the scanner in the printer for example and only basic printer functions.

    I'm puzzled why plant based meat substitute costs more than beef.

    Beef is a very inefficient food to produce.

    In addition to more thrust, the engines are more-forward located. Additional thrust causes the plane to climb at a high angle, lessening lift until a stall is probable. The software causes the nose to point down prevent a stall. Down right in to the ground it seems.

    Nearly impossible. Almost all of the electronic components are made in China now. I'd say nearly 100% of the TVs, cellphones, a lot of the home appliances, pretty soon, Chevy passenger cars.

    How can we buy electronics that are not made in China?

    Our U.S. companies have shut down manufacturing and moved it to China in the majority of consumer products.

    I understand what the total cost has increased to but how much money is going to be thrown down the hold on the Merced to Bakersfield boondoggle just to finish it?

    My sister lives in Bakersfield and there is absolutely zero reason she would want to take that stupid train to any city between Bakersfield and Merced.

    What's worse is the stupid California voters voted for this thing (yes, I know they only allowed 10B).

    Take a walk down the aisle of a grocery store and see how many food items are packaged in plastic.

    Now eliminate all of them from the shelves of the grocery store.

    That's what you'll have.

    In a small area, one can bury power lines.

    There is no way in hell one can bury all of the high voltage power lines in California. There are just too many of them and they are in challenging terrain (rock, tree roots, over water for example).

    Impossible.

    With the major electric company for California filing for bankruptcy, what is next?

    Do we just stop "doing electricity"?

    One cannot guarantee a power line will not fall and cause a fire. One cannot guarantee a tree or a car or whatever will knock down a power line. Also, the costs of the lawsuits don't get paid by the good fairy. They get paid by the *users* of the service.

    If the government takes over electrical distribution, will it be better? Will they shut off the electricity every time there is wind or a storm?

    It's easy to gripe.

    What is the alternative to PG&E distributing and producing power?

    Most government jobs I've seen are slacker jobs.

    If one has skills and wants money, they don't work for the government.

    It's a haven for liberal arts graduates.

    Airports aren't mandated to use TSA. Some airports (San Francisco International for example) have private organizations performing the passenger screening.

  19. Same here. I'm running Win7 on 4 systems with updates off.

    Been doing it for a few years. Typically, MS updates either decrease performance or break things (or give you an OS you don't want).

    When I can't use Win7 anymore, it'll be Linux.

    I'd opt for a refurbished Asus laptop. Price would likely be under $500 US.

    To start with, HP doesn't actually make any PC products (laptop or desktop). They ODM the products to third party vendors and slap their name on them.

    It's been decades since HP actually made a PC.

    In the past, the desktops were manufactured by Asus. Wistron and others have manufactured their laptops.

    Their consumer level quality is well..... just read the reviews.

    She actually couldn't change a light bulb in her room without help.

    One time, she admitted she "didn't know how many ounces were in a pound".

    She can't cook.

    She's a math teacher in high school.
