Hsinchu, Taiwan is also a mini free trade zone. It's fenced off and guarded. What goes in gets shipped out and not taxed.
It's been around for quite a long time (over 20 years that I know of). I've visited the area.
They really know what they're doing. They have on campus dormitories for employees if they choose to live there (and work long hours).
Note that this is NOT mainland China and is a sort of democracy. China insists they're a rogue colony though and this has been an item of contention for several decades.
Ironically, Taiwan subcontracts out a lot of their high demand manufacturing to mainland China.
The are *users* of technology and considered (sometimes) technically literate but most cellphone, tablet and PC users have no idea what goes on inside their device or how it communicates with the world.
I'm in agreement with you. These people knew the terms of their loan, accepted them and are not honoring their commitment.
I see a lot of folks running up loans at expensive institutions in majors that will make it near impossible to repay the loans.
Go to a community college for general education and transfer to a less expensive, local university. Especially for a generic liberal arts degree that will pay mid 30K range upon graduation.
I went this route for Electronics Engineering and have zero regrets. Once you get in the door, no one gives a damn about which university you graduated from.

The guy tries to get salvaged Teslas running. His difficulties are clearly documented on the site.
No parts from Tesla for repair and if Tesla remotely disables the car, it can't be run without a code from Tesla after they determine the car is acceptable to their standards (or maybe never if they don't like the car).
It's amazing that Tesla can remotely "brick" one of their cars against the owner's wishes and render it inoperable until they give the owner a code to get it running (if they choose to do so).
It's also criminal that they will not allow owners to buy repair parts for their cars.
Last, if Tesla goes bankrupt (which, at their current cash burn rate and unprofitably is a good possibility) owners will be left holding the bag with cars that cannot be maintained or repaired.
I've toured Davis Dam (before they discontinued the tours). One item I found interesting was that the dam wasn't running at 100% of electricity capacity. They used it to handle peaks is what we were told.
It would be interesting to understand how much power both Hoover, Davis and Parker dams produce and whether or not they're running at capacity.
I'm wondering if the dams are running at 100% at peak times or not.

Not a smoker.
I agree. Too much nanny stuff. Let people make their own decisions.
We already have laws determining the age at which people can legally purchase tobacco. Just enforce those laws.
What was once HP (after the founders died) played the same game with their manufacturing.
The end game was they pulled all manufacturing out of California.
The deal was made in Houston and it all went there.
California (however) is a very business-unfriendly state.
"CEOs" will just call themselves something else to circumvent the sanctions.
Most adults don't understand how tech works.

I'm going on 21 years with one of my cars having halogen lamps. The other is 17 years old. None have burnt out yet.
Palm was purchased by HP several years ago.
In addition, WebOS was sold to Samsung by HP.
So we have a phone called Palm with no link to the original Palm phone with no OS that previously ran the real Palm phone.
Correction. WebOS was sold to LG.

That should have been HP.
Damned spell check.
Correct.
Palm was purchased by UP some time ago.
What was once Hewlett-Packard eliminated bonuses, profit sharing and stock options to give no raises.
We didn't see that in the news.
I find it incredible that so many are misinformed about this issue.
As stated, Obama signed this bill in 2016 and the message was sent by FEMA, not Trump.
Perhaps the real issue is that the alert is called a "Presidential Alert", which it was not.
It was a FEMA alert.
FWIW, there is no way to disable the alert on our Android phones.
This is really a bad idea that wasn't well thought out.
As mentioned, some people from India would find this offensive and India is a major consumer of technology devices.
Add to that people who are against using animals for food and other items.
HP is essentially offending a large portion of their customer base.
Stupid "management".
I have grade anxiety.
Give me an "A" or I'll cry.
Agreed. It wasn't my favorite thing to do but that's life.
These crybabies need to grow up.
Their newer versions of Excel and Word are also a convoluted mess with their "ribbons".
I typically load an older version of MSOffice because their UI's are more intuitive.
What is more important?
Learning to "code" or learning personal finance that one would use nearly every day of their lives?

It's thinner! It's bigger! It's smaller!
It's a phone, stupid.
Antennae are passive devices.
The "digital" part is located *after* the antenna if the antenna is combined with amplification or signal processing.
Antennae simply receive radio waves. The type of signal or modulation type is independent of antenna type.
Remember when some channels on Cable TV didn't have ads?
Here we go folks. First a few Netflix only ads, then we'll get feminine hygiene ads.

Tesla reminds me of a pyramid scheme.

There are two reservoirs downstream from Lake Mead.
Lake Mojave and Lake Havasu.
