    Funny.

    Autopilot for an airplane means the plane is flown by a computer navigation system without the pilot being involved.

    Autopilot on a boat or ship means the vessel is piloted by a computer navigation system without operator being at the wheel.

    Autopilot for Tesla cars means something different.

  3. I drink on the average, 2 cans of cola per day and have done so for decades. My blood sugar is low and my weight is normal. My lipid panel is normal and I've actually lost 10 pounds in the last couple of months.

    I feel great. I cycle, hike and snow ski among other things (but not a lot).

    I simply limit my food intake and minimize fats.

    This country is the laughing stock of the planet in choosing two very substandard candidates.

    There is now way we can come out of this election in a good way.

    My only hope is whoever is elected President has a health problem and is replaced with their Vice President.

    In both situations, the VP appears to be a better candidate than the abysmal presidential choice.

  7. I never understood the attraction to diamonds.

    I see them as a means of concentrating a large sum of money in to a small package in order to show off how much one has.

    I find women that flaunt large diamonds as superficial and something to avoid. Most of the time, they want them to display "how much someone cares about them" (by spending a lot of money on them).

  11. Holy crap-o-rama! Four gigabytes would consume 40% of my Hughesnet data allotment. I live in a rural area and don't have "real broadband" as it isn't available here.

    At $59/month, an upgrade would cost me over $20 in data.

    So happy I don't have a POS Windows 10 OS. I'll stick to Windows 7 and Linux Mint on my PCs, thank you.

    Perhaps the drivers just don't like made-up stupid sounding names given by strange parents. Who needs that in their back seat?

    Similarly, giving a white person the name of "god" (Grace Slick) or "Dweezil" or "Moon Unit" (Frank Zappa) may have the same effect.

  19. AT&T is really Southwestern Bell. When SWB acquired AT&T they chose that moniker because it had better name recognition.

    Bigger is never better for the consumer. Take a look at consolidated airlines, banks, grocery chains. It means fewer choices and less price competition.

    Also consider anything with electronics in it has to have a power source. Batteries tend to stop functioning at the most inopportune times.
    Add to that added complexity of electronic circuitry.

    No thanks. If I should ever require a firearm, I want one that functions with reliability and simplicity.

    Additionally, criminals tend to have illegally-procured firearms. I doubt if they'll bother with a fingerprint reader.

    HP doesn't "design/build/support" PCs and hasn't for decades.

    It's all outsourced. HP's PCs are built and designed by ODM (Original Design/Manufacture) companies.

    Wistron is one of their primary suppliers of laptop products. There are others (my HP desktop has an Asus motherboard).

    Their directed cost cuts in the ODM products have resulted in substandard quality and I won't buy a consumer grade PC from HP anymore, knowing what I know (I won't get in to detail).

    You get the behavior you measure and HP measures cost cuts, not quality improvements.
