I was in the Us for about 2 years on TN visas but would have liked to get the H1-B and would have been willing to stay longer (I am Canadian), I was working as a ldap expert doing contract work and worked with Apple and EDS on the GM contract yet when my contract company applied for my H1-B that year 3 times as many applications hit the office in the morning as there where H1-B visas for. Mine was one of them yet I never got one. Then turn around and find a guy working at a McDonnalds as I believe assistant manager who got one of the H1-B's that year. Kind of puts a sour taste in ones mouth that a skilled worker in demand can't get one but a bugger flipper can.
You are missing a point here. there are ram chips out there that are designed to run with more voltage then 1.65. So you do not even need to overclock for this to happen.
for example OCZ Platinum 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 is a 1.8v standard. that's NOT overclocking
I agree overclocking and you break something your own problem but this product can't even use some decent ram as its stated to be used without blowing the CPU. At that point I would want my CPU replaced thank you,
I love Red alert series always have, but new one comes with drm limiting to 5 installs. And then it has to authenticate against a server that in 5 years may be gone means I am renting a game for a undetermined term of time. So at that poing I will look for say the Sins of Solar Empire game, amazing game drm free and sold huge numbers. I understand the idea of DRM but it DOSE NOT WORK its hacked then the copy on torrents ends up being better/more stable then the one you pay for. DRM hurts paying customers and pushes more to hacked copy's.
I would love to find a site organizing a boycott email/snail main campaign against EA. The amazon rating for Spore has been a big hit to EA and should have opened there eyes.
See this is where those fun download caps come in to play. Say Rogers standard 45$ a month internet is caped at 65 gigs a month. But I want to start doing more multi-media online like this my internet works against me. I thought the future was suppose to be cheaper unlimited faster internet so movies I can rent through the internet and smiler stuff can be done.
I mean internet providers working against what the rest of the world are trying to do with the internet. All these great new tools/services become pointless as my internet provider puts a cap. Now the 250 gig cap of comcast is not to bad but its still a cap, in Canada even on expensive services its a 95 gig cap which my family blows through monthly as there are 6 computers online at my place. So when will services like this be actually usable because with caps its easier to go and rent the dam thing.
Generically speaking the French translation of manuals is not a long process, so I will not give them that point, that's a excuse at best. But no french tech support is a good one but also a sad point, how hard it it to find bilingual people or pure french speaking tech support people for Linux. Its Sad dell will not have that on the go by now as its not like this whole linux thing is new and again the laptop dose come with xp options why not just have that part here.
Like normal its not on the Canadian site. Usually launches in the Us of product is on the same day in Canada but Dell dose not give us Canadians as many options for pc/laptops as they do to the US. HP also has a limited website for product configuration/product compared to the US. Considering how closely tied we are and how most company release Canada/us same time this would be in Canada to.
Ok first off if you are a IT person who part of your job is dealing with a server holding user records you could be held responsible for even a simple mistake, that I don't mind but criminal charges for said mistake seams a little over the top. If this actually became law, watch how many IT people will decide its not worth the risk or decide there salary needs a big jump because of the risk.
This is similar to what my father has to deal with In Ontario Canada. He is a maintenance manager at a production plant, so he has to make sure the machines are fixed and the plant is safe. Now here is the kicker, if someone gets hurt and he did not do EVERYTHING (I stress that word here) he could possibly could do to prevent the injury he could face criminal charges. Ok Now define everything, say guy gets hit by a fork lift, did my father have caution tape along the entire stretch of the building the forklift was driving, was there 10 people in front of the forklift making sure no one was there, where there 15 different noises coming for the thing, a announcement over the PA saying its on the way. Um ok the answer is no, he has to be reasonable but in a court of law people have been screwed over for less. Its to the point where he is to anyone who is above the ground I believe 5 feet neets to be tied off, um that begs the great question tied off to what, how do you tie off without getting up and tieing off to something above you da da da. It gets to the point of being just dumb. right now to go up on the roof he has to fill out a form. Takes him 30 min of paperwork to check 1 thing on the roof. I agree with safety but that's to the point even Darwin is shaking his head.
So back to IT, lets go to court, define EVERYTHING you could have done to prevent a hacker from getting data from a server, well I can un plug it, beat the living crap out of it, encase it in concrete, drop it in a lake and then its 99% safe. There is is always a new hole, but the patch came out for it yesterday and someone took the data 5 min before it got patched, why was it not patched 5 min earlier. Why where you not running the newest 2.0.3.4.66.3.11 instead of 2.0.3.4.66.3.10 that's the sport of thing someone may try in court, how do you defend yourself as in court the common scene approach don't always seem to work.
Basically how far can you go to say you did everything, and was everything enough, well it never is. LETS bring the guy who came up with safety devices for cars to court, people still died in you car, why is that, how come you did not provide a trained driver with the car, full body air bags da da da. Yes Slippery slope
Se we all know M$ could not code there way out of a paper bag. I will say after a while XP became decent enough to use, but looking at there track record or lack of security and general crap web apps, I don't see this happening or at least being a big hit.
But lets say they do actually pull this thing off and make a stable working system there is one BIG thing they have not figured out yet, Bandwidth CAP. That's right in Canada most ISP's have caps, depending on how much you spend they range form 30 to 95 gigs. In the US some ISP's have them and some like Comcast are looking into some, but at least Comcasts 250gig cap is somewhat resalable. But now not we want a OS online, um how much of the bandwidth cap will that chew up considering we are already dealing with caps while still download movies and music (legal stuff assumed here by general public), toss in updates and anything else and um lets enjoy some overage cap fees. So M$ wants to make a online Os while its becommign more expensive to have a large bandwidth. In Canada each gig over costs so much cash tell a specific point I think 254 then they stop charging and you effectively get unlimited internet but say you have a 40$ account now its a 75$ account not including extra fees like the modem. That's a big extra especially since a OS like this will also end up being a monthly fee which in the end NO ONE LIKES. MAC will get a big boost, Linux will see some and this could even kill the game industry for pc as it will have to move to MAC or Linux and at that point they may just go console, ya sins of solar empire on a console, not my idea of sum
You may be but even if some groups boycott it thats going to be a SMALL and I stress SMALL minority of people. How many people don't care and just want to see there team win. I think it was a mistake to go to chine, in all honesty I think Toronto should have gotten it but some loud mouths in Toronto (mayer at the time) really screwed it for Toronto. I am in the Toronto area so know a bit more on it. It as basically between Toronto and China in the end, and Apparently some dumb people here said the wrong things ans that tipped the scales in China's favor. but one has to ask yourself if it was Toronto vs China how bad was Toronto bid that it was going against china lol
I believe they also recovered 12 Russian crew members bodies in the piece they did recover which there given a proper burial at sea. Tho they have never actually stated how much of the sub was actually recovered or what was in it. In all honesty this is the first time I heard any specifics of what was brought up.
I am at EDS for another 2 1/2 weeks. I am a contractor and since EDS changed mandate to hire in India and over seas only my boss was not allowed to hire me full time. but at this point in time I am kind of happy that I am out of here, as hey HP's last big merger with compaq was not such a hot one, who is to say it will be hot here. Also note HP is a lot bigger into using over seas employees then EDS has been tho EDS has been moving that direction. but ya its sad to see so much of it as thats a lot more cash not in the US/Canadian economy. but then stock people want more off shoring wonder why the economy is crap these days. O well Rogers just hired me, so I found a new home back in canada EH.
Again this brings up the o so fun identity theft issue / Cracking. Great go to local coffee shop with someone else id card, or some crack, steal all you want and go home. In the end the law will get some people but hurt a lot more as like any technology they come up with to try and enforce it, there will be more people out there trying to break it then trying to keep it working right. And hey try to prove you did nothing and your identity was taken for a few mp3's. It can be done but will cost you cash, greif and everything else. I like it the way it is, we pay a tax on blank media, we put what we want on it, RIAA/ MPAA thugs get payed form it as the artists sure as hell don't see that cash, and we keep going. But then we still pay for media, but get whatever the hell we want.
And you bring up the only good reason to get a zune, retailers are forced to drop the price to get the things out of there stores. I am by no means a ipod fan, but hey there are other alternatives, take creative labs offering. Brother has a Zen which in all honesty I think is better then either the ipod or the Zune. but hey ya ipod > zune any day. But again not only alternatives.
I would say fine, guess what you live in NY, I don't sell to you. As in the end every online store needs to add this sort of thing in at there expense and is something that is a joke to begin with. So Hey take Newegg, anazon and a few other major ones say nope no NY, to bad, the backlash would be nough to get somthing roling in getting this joke removed as again how can NY state tell me in Michigan what to so.
I play City Of Heroes and have a mix on male and female characters and see absolutely no reason to worry about this. Really its ROLE PLAYING so why can't I play a gun toting girl character with a gun almost as big as she is. Relay this is just a minor group complaining and the developers lissining to them and thinking thats the entire community. I have seen games destroyed like this where small groups complain beyond all about things because its not good for PvP or something where the 99% of the rest of the game players like it as is but the game gets changed. Then the developers wonder why they lose people from the game after the changes. In all honesty I would leave a game that set a policy like this in place, and they may find many with my attitude but will still st around thinking why they lost people.
Make a patch for there older office systems like 2003 which allows them to save to there OOXML. Now this concept will go right over M$'s head as they will say "well why would we do that, then there is no reason to update to 2007". Well thats what people say now, why go to this new system when 2003 works just fine, dose all we need and hey everyone can read and modify ours docs. We upgrade we will have to save in the doc format because hey then everyone can deal with the document basically. But if they make it so that the older offices can deal with the newer format, people will be more inclined to move tot he newer format and will then not have any reasons besides cost to moving to 2007 as then all can read the documents. Microsoft has to realize people are not just going to jump when they say jump, and are not going to switch formats because they say so. If it works then why change right. Fastest way to change is let everyone deal with that format on any of there systems then that one less reason for not upgrading.
Logetic had a good larger sized one I had for many years tell I well wore the darn thing out. They no longer make that one.
Microsoft also use to make a good sized trackball that I am currently using but again it is no longer made.
there have never been a big selection of trackballs, and every time I have to buy a new one the models I liked are gone and its even harder to find a good one. I have been using trackballs since about 2000 and as a heavy gamer its night and day between a mouse and trackball, especially for a sniper.
Look Clinton had a BJ and they tried to get him out of office. Bush has been screwing up a war form day one, went in when the evidence said no WMD's. Hell he even tried to pion sept 11 on Iraq, tho the evidence just was not there. Toss in things like the wire tapping issue where illegal wire tapping's occurred even tho getting a warrant to do it was basically a rubber stamp, and nothing happened. This is not the first time someone has said bushes gang tried to change the facts, and force bad info down on the public. In the end Bush is a oil guy, he don't care about the environment or anything, just making his own cash. Yet some how he is still in office, and Clinton who ya was not perfect almost got tossed out because of a BJ, give me a break.
Boy are you guys SCREWED
I was in the Us for about 2 years on TN visas but would have liked to get the H1-B and would have been willing to stay longer (I am Canadian), I was working as a ldap expert doing contract work and worked with Apple and EDS on the GM contract yet when my contract company applied for my H1-B that year 3 times as many applications hit the office in the morning as there where H1-B visas for. Wiggum: What do you got, the whole town's DNA on file?
DNA guy: Y'uh huh. If you've ever handled a penny, the government's got
your DNA. Why do you think they keep 'em in circulation?
To be honest I don't know, let me do a google search to find out

This smells like the SCO all over again.

don't get my hopes up, RIAA declaring its bankrupt would be jut to much to ask for
