Why buy a new version when we have the DVD set already, rather spend my cash on something I don't have. And relay a DVD vs BlueRay/HD-dvd, ya there is a difference but not near enough for me to re buy my entire DVd collection. And like any smart person I am letting others figure the format war crap out and getting the winner later when its a decent price.

Ok I am a Canadian working in the US on a TN visa (1 year visa specific for Canadians and Mexicans), my company was applying for a H-1B Visa for me, but now I have to wonder if I even have a snow ball chance of getting it because of this. I actually never looked for a job in the US, this company literally called me up, the interview was a few questions and they wanted me down within 1 week. I have been working ever since on a TN visa. The TN can be renewed every year, usually not a big issue, but all it takes is one time for homeland security to say no and I am screwed. I am asked by a company to work here which to me shows they have a hard time finding people to fill my shoes state side. Yet the government dose not understand this and looks like I may not get a H-1B this year and hell its a crap shoot for next.

As sad as this sounds, I am actully rooting for Billy Gates lobbying for more H-1B visa's, and I am no ware near a supporter for Gates in general. I will agree if the skilled people to fill my shoes are state side, then great let them work my position, I do agree with putting your countryman first, but if you can't fill some positions why make it so its near imposable to get someone else ware to fill it. Say I was from England, then I can't get TN visa status leaving my only hope in the H-1B and thats a 1 year event thats like concert tickets to the most popular band around.

When do most smart people use bit torrents. Well if you are like me you do not sit there and watch a linux iso, video game you bought, or whatever download for 3 hours. you either let it run in the background or you start it before going to bed. So hoe effective is this if any of us would start the download and go play a game, watch tv or surf the net.

  10. Re:Yuk on BitTorrent Inc. Introduces Ad-Supported Downloads · · Score: 1

To be honest, eh whatever, I have seen so many adds that they relay do not affect me much at all. Really I can't think of 1 occurrence when a add made me want to go with a specific product or anything. I literally ignore adds as they have become non effective because of the MASS overdose of adds we all see on a daily basses. When I go to buy something I spend my time doing research, do I buy this brand or that, well I look up the info, O look this has 5 year warranty this one 1 year, guess what I get. And as for things as simple as even milk or smiler items which re still advertised, I see 3 brands of milk for example, I try all 3 and get the one after that I enjoyed the best. I honestly believe adds have lost the majority of there effectiveness these days and its the fault of the people who are spamming us with adds, they have gotten the public to the point that we can just ignore them and move on.

If I get a Dell Linux box I am sure I will be changing the config FAST. but for a desktop machine, make it so anyone can grab it and just use it for e mail, text editing and such. that way more people would buy a Linux based system, save the cash, and with Dell backing it (assume 1 distro only) they can get help with the system. I see this more as a move for people to start getting Linux better prepared for General Desk Top use then anything else.

Hell because of this, I may be looking at Dell for a low to medium end Linux system to replace my aging Linux system for testing and programing use. 15. whats the numbers on Blu-ray Disc Among Top Selling DVDs at Amazon · · Score: 3, Insightful

If you can't tell me how many of these actualy sold then I am not interested. Was it 40 DVD's for #1 and 10 for #8 which means very little in the end. Or was it 10,000 for #1 and 8000 for number #8 spot. Knowing a standing in a chart means extreamly little unless you can give me the actual numbers sold.

also would like to point out that Blue Ray DVD's are much harder to find compared to standard DVD's that are even for sale in the local 7-11 including Casino Royale. This point could explain why it was bought more on amazon, as I can get the standard DVD any ware, but the blue ray and HD-DVD for that matter, are harder to find so would increase sales on things like amazon easily.

and yes this has been beaten to death point, but again more people have blue ray for the simple fact that its stock in PS3, not because a lot of people have bought specific players. From the numbers there is more stock HD-DVD players sold over stock Blue-Ray players. I just hope Sony realizes they need to avoid the fate of there Beta and actulay allow others to make Blue-Ray players, then they are in a position to actully win out.

I am already running mostly energy efficient bulbs, not having to change them for 5 years and such is a great thing to me. The price of the energy efficient ones in general is not that high, so why would anyone relay go out of there way to find cheaper standard bulbs. I know you said prohibition doesn't work, but lets be honest here, the prohibition you are thinking of is on liquor, and darn right there thats one thats not going to work. but in thta case, there is cash to be made, but with light bulbs, how many would you need to sell to make a profit, and a great enough one to make it worth while. I just don't see black market in these things being a HUGE issue.

If every house hold in the world moved to energy efficient bulbs, imagine the savings in fuels burnt, it would be massive AND would drive the price of the new style bulbs way down. Now I know you did state a recycling concern, well again how many people recycle canes of coke, LOTS. This could become the same thing to be honest, So I believe it could be a non issue.
