    Wow, that sounds so degenerated.
I easily survived 13 years of walking / biking to school in Germany as did most of my friends.

The only person of our school who got raped and killed was raped and killed by her uncle. Four people died in car accidents - while sitting IN the car.

The most dangerous people to your children are not the people on the street but your family. That's statistically evident.

    > tags with their full name and the school's name on it which must be worn at all times.

Where I live parents teach there children their name, address and telephone number.

    > it's hard for students to go someplace after school that they're not supposed to be, and this is part of the point.

This is soooooo wrong. When are they supposed to learn to make use of freedom and to make their own decisions if they don't have the chance to do so as a child?

Banning iPods etc. is not effective and gives a false feeling of security. There are still thousands of ways an employee could smuggle out valuable data, but people will feel safe because of the obvoius security hassle.

Just ensure that you have loyal employees, give them a good pay check and treat them respectfully.

The complete network is a single subnet populated with some hundreds of Win2Kpro boxes, that are usually never updated and just waiting for the next virus/worm to distribute sensitive data.

That is: you would be offered the same books as people who donated $5 to each candidate bought. (if you had no history of purchases at Amazon yet)

This is why collaborative filtering can be so dangerous: If you have a huge database and know a person you have data about is (libertarian|anti-war|republican|gay|whatever) you can just ask the system to show you people with similar purchasing behavior - and now "know" a lot about them.

  16. Learn to enjoy good habits on Getting Back Into Shape While At The Office? · · Score: 1

Don't make the mistake to do things just to stay in shape.

    Some examples:
    You don't need a negative-list but a positive-list.
Enjoy fresh fruit and vegetable instead of snacks. Try new stuff, fruits you didn't know, vegetable you never ate raw before etc. Carrots make a pretty good snack, bananas are great, too. Figure out, what you might like, there's so much you can eat that hasn't been processed by Kraft before.

Learn cooking and prepare your meals yourself. The deep-freezer at home and the microwave in the office are your friends. Vary and be creative. Be brave and try vegetarian meals, Indian dishes, whatever. Care about the quality of your food and be interested into the ingredients. Don't stick to recipes, cooking is fun and can be like meditation.

Enjoy walking. Try to walk whereever possible. Use public transport systems. Try to walk different ways. It's fun spending some time on getting from A to B. Maybe take your digital camera with you to take pictures of whatever you like.

Avoid escalators. Try to avoid elevators if the building is not too high.
Again: Give yourself time to get from the basement to the buildings top, have a look out of the windows on the way there or whatever.

Maybe, if you really started enjoying having a body with parts that you can move not only to get you another beer of the refrigerator, try doing some sports, maybe swimming with some friends, maybe coworkers in the morning before work. It just shouldn't feel like "sport".

Actually, I don't think that you can be successful if you only do things just to stay in shape. But if you figure out what's fun for you, you will do just the things you like and still stay in shape.

Don't get religious about food and sports, this would work for some months but you'll be back to square one in no time.
