So what if they were inspired by a video game or by The Matrix. The entertainment industry still has a ways to go before it catches up to God, Allah, and Jesus. More people kill based on religious beliefs than anything and I don't see a whole lot of regulations on worship.
Until I got XP and discovered there wasn't support for the joystick. I was looking to upgrade anyway to a force feedback but avoided another Sidewinder since Microsoft essentially abandoned me with my perfectly good stick. Still, my joystick lasted a good 7 or 8 years. I had CH Products joysticks that would wear out in less than a year before that.
Any serious geek has a raised floor and a communications rack in the linen closet to tie it all together. This article is for people who prefer ceramic tile and carptet to the clunck of a raised floor.
The great things about this deal: the Army is going through a reseller, when clearly they have the purchasing power to buy direct; and most of the computers they purchase are normal consumer machines which will be purchased with Windows and Office already installed, so the Army will be paying twice for each machine.
You assume that the PC's purchased will come with Windows and Office already installed. This isn't always the case. The company I work for has a huge deal with Microsoft. We buy large quantities of PC's from Dell. We take our software and configure one box and then we use that box to make an image and image the rest of them. I know of many companies that do this with large installations. It doesn't mean we're buying the software twice (once with the PC and once in our volume license).
I understand your point but let me ask this. First of all I haven't played a Blizzard game in years so I am not sure what kind of anti-copying methods they currently employ. But just to make my argument lets say they use CD keys. Could a Linux user who has FreeCraft play the FreeCraft version of the game and get around Blizzard's CD key? If so I could see this bothering Blizzard somewhat.
This is the second time that Blizzard has done something to tick off their fanbase. But I still see people buying their games and raving about them. First bnetd and now this. How much do folks have to take before they decide they are tired of supporting a company? Just to be fair, how many times will someone tread so closely to Blizzard's IP and be shocked when they flex their legal muscle?
To make an AmigaOS skin and put that on your Mozilla running in Linux? I would agree that it would be fun to have a working copy of Mozilla to run in UAE to show my friends but I honestly don't see any real world use. Even in AmigaOS4 is finished, it isn't going to revive the Amiga to its 1980's glory days. The Mac and the PC have long taken over the reigns that the Amiga once held in sound and graphics. I'd much rather see the efforts go into a more modern and existing OS like Linux or even Mac OS X.
I love when people try to justify their criminal activity with excuses like you give. So you may not use it professionally, you still are using it. And if the product is too expensive for you, it doesn't justify stealing it. Theft is theft.
I went to buy the T68i last month and changed my mind when I saw a map of AT&T's GSM network. I decided to give them a couple more years to roll out that network before going GSM.
With the number of apps trying so hard to look like their Windows or OS X counterparts, why hasn't someone done a GUI for these video players to make them look like Media Player or Quicktime?
I guess once the developers get their players to where it will play their latest pr0n downloads it becomes too hard to code using one hand?
When I first went to the website to see the copy of the cease and desist letter filed by the lawfirm S,W,&W I was amazed how much their logo looked like Smith & Wesson's. For shits and giggles I am going to start calling and writing them for questions about S&W firearms and then finally complain to S&W about how this law firms logo confused me into thinking they were S&W.
I think it is time to show some of these law firms how stupid and confused the public really is.
Moving the software (i.e. disk reformat, buy new computer) requires buying it again.
This is not what the article said. The original installer only has to hang on to the key and activation code and they can reinstall it on a new PC. It may sound like a pain in the ass but you can just keep this info with your tax records that you have to keep anyway.
I guess people are just pissed they can't split the cost of one copy of the program with their friends and family anymore.
If you don't know how to code, or explain the difference between an abstract base class and a regular class, then you don't deserve the job.
The problem is we're too busy laughing when you ask "Tell me a boat an abstract class and tell me a boat a regular class.
This actually happened to me during an interview. I was being interviewed by an Indian and he asked me about "ice uh" and a "hass uh" classes. I looked at him like he was from the moon. I asked him what he was talking about. He spelled it out. I-S-A and H-A-S-A. He had me stumped. I went back to the office and asked a few people what an ISA and HASA were. Finally one guy smacked himself in the forehead and said "oh, do you think he was asking about 'is a' and 'has a' relationships? I got a damn good chuckle from that and still do.
This should give MPAA a lot of food for thought - not only about copy protection but also about producing inferior movies like the Nemesis.
I don't think the MPAA sits down and says lets make a really bad Star Trek movie. I think Rick Berman is the one who does that.
The MPAA might have something to say about using franchises and trademarks of existing properties though.
There is a good Star Wars based fan film over at http://www.crewoftwo.com Lucas is a fan of fan films. It will be interesting how Paramount will react to Exeter.
I'm a Windows zealot who keeps Linux around just to use as a cheap web and mail server. I could shell out some cash to support the platform I like and purchase a server license so I can run IIS but that doesn't make sense to me. Now if the shoe was on the other foot and I was a Linux zealot who only had Windows to play games then I think I would want the platform that gave me the most games. I wouldn't punish myself by limiting my choices to just a few that were native on Linux or ran "ok" under WINE.
Sometimes you just need to bite the bullet and use the best tool for the job.
I hammered nails with an ice cream scooper once but once I realized it was much easier to use a hammer I only use the ice cream scooper for dishing out rocky road.
Just don't see the films you don't want to see, but do more than that. Write to the director, producer, MPAA and tell them you are refusing to see this movie and state your reasons. Either the MPAA will get the message or those that make really crappy movies will think their problem is really the MPAA and we'll all have a good laugh at their expense.

Another device to seperate the responsibility of parenting from the parents.
Is that the same video that is on the XBox magazine demo disk? Some of that sounds familiar but at this point I can't remember where I saw it.
A review for MS-DOS 5.0? QBasic hasn't been included with Microsoft operating systems since they stopped selling DOS if I am not mistaken.

1080 is the default port for a SOCKS proxy. Perhaps you see all those ports open on your network for a reason.
I love when people try to justify their criminal activity with excuses like you give. So you may not use it professionally, you still are using it. And if the product is too expensive for you, it doesn't justify stealing it. Theft is theft.
We need better definitions of a sport. To me, if you can do it while eating a banana it is not a sport, merely an activity.
But where is the harm. Overtrampling areas causing erosion? Come on, the "activity" isn't that popular.
You misspelled Debian...
Relax, it was just a Thaipo.
And hence it'll be settled (if ever) after a lot of shenanigans.
Great, I'll get my broom!
Optimoz [mozdev.org] (for Mozilla [mozilla.org] has mouse gestures, too, you ignorant clod.
People like you are the reason I spent $39 for Opera and $15 for subsequent upgrades.
This is with AT&T's new GSM network.
I went to buy the T68i last month and changed my mind when I saw a map of AT&T's GSM network. I decided to give them a couple more years to roll out that network before going GSM.
I'll take python over C in a maintainability contest any day. Pointers and memory management are notoriously hard to maintain.
Especially when all you know is Python.

I certainly will never use anything from them ever again.
:)
If they are right and they win, then you are already using their stuff.
