At what point will we have so many wireless devices that wireless communication becomes impossible? Yes, I'm sure that one could build in a lab a device that transfers power this way without much interference to nearby wireless devices, but what happens when the products are being built in China?
Given the record of the Clinton and Bush admins on technology, I think that total gridlock is the best solution. "No more laws" is better than bad laws.
That looks pretty cool. I should also point out that Python comes with excellent documentation that by itself is more than enough to learn the language. I just like little portable books rather than online docs or printed paper.
For anyone who has ever programmed before, the O'Reilly Python Pocket Reference is all that you need to start. I say that because Python is so simple to learn that I am afraid that some giant book might end up being a hindrance rather than an asset at the start. You might lose sight of just how simple a language it is- yet its very powerful and extensible. (the Pocket reference is around $9 or $10)
Search Amazon for the Terrorstorm DVD by Alex Jones. One section of the video has some excellent pictures of the camera systems in use in Britain. On a more general note about the video, it is an excellent documentary about the rise in state sponsored terrorism. Last I checked it was #21 in popularity for Amazon DVD's. Alternatively, you can find it on Google video or at www.infowars.com.
Oh well, I should be used to computers being obsolete the moment I buy one. I have run Numeric Python on this laptop. I have some programs that use Complex-128 numbers and the performance is pretty good. About what I would expect for the speed of the cpu. I guess if I want raw performance I should get a Powerbook!
I have an Acer Aspire 5100 here with a 1.7Ghz AMD Turion. Other than the speed differential, is the Intel chip any better than the AMD one? I have kind of lost track of the dizzying array of chips out there.
Asked about how the United States could own a vacuum, the Bush administration spokesman said that "the President had been associated with a vacuum for many years."
Regarding the Curie temp, you are absolutely right. Magnetic materials vary in the Curie temp, but some are as low as 120C. I doubt if that would be used in a drive though. There is no need to heat a drive a thousand degrees above the Curie temp to destroy it. The whole thermite discussion is total nonsense in light of this fact.
Check out the MSNBC.com version of the story. He and his nurse remind me of the old Benny Hill show. I guess if you're stuck in a wheelchair, you may as well enjoy yourself.
I can still get on Gnutella and find almost every song that exists. What a bunch of nonsense. I believe they are just saying this so they can save face in the midst of their defeat.
Nike was the leader in "sweatshop engineering" although I think they have cleaned up their act quite a bit. But I can see a combo Ipod-sneaker in the future. Oh no, I shouldn't have mentioned that. (one week later Apple applies for the patent:)
I'm wondering if a similar system can be used to cut out commercials from TV shows? It would be great to have some system that doesn't rely on anything incredibly sophisticated to accomplish this. Perhaps like tripping on commercial type keywords and then using IR remote to mute the TV or switch it to an usused video input to blank the screen.
Wow, I'm going to add a bunch of pr0n to my web site. Hopefully I can get it blocked in Ft Meade. I'm sure the NSA uses filters to rid themselves of objectionable content.
These ever expanding new "addictions" are ridiculous. Its a jobs program for third rate psychologists and treatment centers. Here is an excellent book on the subject which says it all: "The Diseasing of America" by Stanton Peele.
I personally stay away from the "self help" sections of book stores. Who knows what new "disease" I might find that I have, lol.
I just bought an Acer 5670 Aspire laptop. I had to install the Dapper Drake beta initially as the ATI Radion X1400 high end card wasn't supported by Breezy Badger. The particular Broadcom ethernet wasn't supported either by Breezy Badger. But with the new version, everything works very well.
After hacking FreeBSD and other Linux distros for years I got into a mode where I "just wanted to use" a computer and not have to be continually fooling with it to get an OS and apps to work. Ubuntu has been the perfect solution for achieving that goal. A job very well done!
Its been known for quite some time that at least one numbers station was broadcasting out of a military base in the US. I wish I had the reference but I saw it in a book on shortwave listening some time ago. A nearby ham or SWLer realized just how strong the signal was and by taking a receiver to the perimeter of the base, was easily able to conclude that it was the source.
I have also seen in the past revelations about these stations operating out of Cuba. There was some dissident who defected to the US and spilled the beans on it.

I for one welcome our new ionic overloards.

The Republican Party has decided to use the same system to safely shuttle away incumbent lawmakers from the Whitehouse.

What will America look like when the population gets to 600,000,000? (or insert other country or world as whole and scale)

OK, I just made that up.

It will work great until your neighbor on CB running 10kW speaks into the mic.
(same for BPL Internet)
