Why do so few question how MPAA can have these legal powers to train dogs to find DVD discs and get them to open them to check if they were pirated? When there's apparently no good legal ground for it (the DVD's were all legal). How much of a police *are* these guys anyway?
In USA, can anyone basically gain police powers if there's a suspicion for crime? Wait, scratch that. Can anyone basically gain police powers when ther's NO suspicion for crime?
MPAA isn't even a government body. It seems to surely be an organization that unifies the government, police, and media industry though. I just wonder how the heck they do it and have so few complain. This is obviously not just a concern for the pirates, but for anyone who wonders what a basic organization can and can not do even without suspicions of crime.
bigger and more powerful than a PDA, but smaller and less optimized for traditional desktop PC tasks than a notebook computer or a desktop PC.
Well, the summary pretty much nailed why I won't buy one. It's neither as small as necessary to carry it conveniently, or powerful enough to compare with a laptop.
Hmm, why is positioning and keystrokes saved? It sounds like it's to be able to reconstruct the document step by step, or maybe the opposite? Do Word's undo feature work cross-sessions? That would be quite nice actually.
Another company gone thanks to an out-of-court settlement due to RIAA's lawyer army and economical advantage. They've really found out a working model for being right regardless what a boring test in court would say. Your tool can be used to infringe on copyright, therefore it should not exist, and no one has anything to say about the lack of logic in that argument. *AA and all those companies that live on registering, then suing for patent infrigements should merge to form a Coalition of Law Abusing Powers. Now that would be really scary...:-P Corporations that harvest the economy crops on destroying things rather than constructing. Unfortunately for the media business, they need the latter today, not the former, assuming they wish to keep their customers that is. It's a funny world when you're better supported by pirates than iTunes if you wish to use your music.
In the future, Microsoft said, it expects to launch ads in e-mail
When Gmail doesn't need this and still clearly make a profit and Google's revenue is still almost entirely ad-based, and MS base their revenue mostly by selling products, why do MS need to do this as soon as they enter the ad market? Is it pure greed or inefficiency in using their revenues?
Yeah, I wonder if they can after having announced this... Maybe they'll hire actors and cut together a new edition, calling it the original one.:-p
Seriously, the only thing that claim would tell me is that: 1. We don't plan to release the original one in more editions => this is your last chance. 2. We changed our minds. 3. Profit.
With this debate about who should shoot first or who didn't shoot or who should've been shooting, an outsider would imagine you'd be directing a porn movie.:-p
Suicide isn't an injury, it's a psychological state leading to quite irrational behavior, and stress from long work days can have psychological effects. Not commiting suicide is clearly one measure of health to me.
However, since differences in suicide rates are probably greatly overshadowed by other more common diseases and health standards, I don't think suicide have much to do with the discussion still. Both in Japan and USA is it a minority problem. Yes, Japan may have it be more common, but who knows why when countries with other stressful environments don't?
As soon as people tries to install an OS designed for generic hardware (Windows, Linux), they risk running into both driver problems, stability problems, or both, and suddenly they may get "that crappy computer" again, running on Mac hardware and Boot Camp.
As usual, running on hardware the OS is designed for is both a blessing and a curse, and most PC users I know are fully aware of what a Mac would offer and why they won't use it. But there's probably large masses of people who simply use Windows at home for Outlook, IE, and Word, and they could of course benefit from taking a look on a Mac. Or Linux with Ubuntu, if they want to get away much cheaper and happen to use supported hardware.
Try installing XP (retail CD version) on a system with only an SATA hard drive. You have to have a floppy drive and disk, copy a driver to the disk, and hit F6 during the initial start-up to load the driver.
Unless your BIOS shows the SATA interface as an IDE to the OS.
Mine does and I've never needed to do anything special with driver disks.

Is this old news or have they found galaxies additional to those already known?
You need to start reading the first sentence in the Slashdot article summary.
If they include a Leeroy Jenkins move in it, it could turn into a brilliant horror movie. ;-)
Press release.
Not found him? I'm not sure many scientists are even looking for such a being.
I'm just relieved that the battle of two bazillion dollar companies turned out well.
:-)
Apple Corps has however appealed the decision.
Also, there's some name hilarity in this article:
"I find no breach of the trademark agreement has been demonstrated," Mr Justice Mann said in his judgment on Monday. "The action therefore fails."
Justice Mann is even more cartoony than Judge Dredd.

2. Move to the land of muppet chefs.
3. Get some sponsors.
4. Profit!

Do what I did. Have a kid and
Whhhaaa... *head explodes!*
Since this is a retro edition on DVD, you may just have figured out the accompanying DVD bonus content. :-)
Sounds like you're the perfect match for Lucas' target audience. ;-)
Yeah, I wonder if they can after having announced this... :-p

And after having watched the godlike 4 min. shorter edition, you will finally enter Geek Nirvana and live happily ever after? :-)

Bah, "a new hope" this and that... :-)
It's not really original unless the story revolves around the Starkiller, son of the suns.
MMMMMMM...polygon'd boobies!!!
One may laugh, but...
Why isn't the funny foot used in his articles? Seriously.
I think I personally like CNET's list more:
1. Webvan
2. Pets.com
3. Kozmo.com
4. Flooz.com
5. eToys.com
6. Boo.com
7. MVP.com
8. Go.com
9. Kibu.com
10. GovWorks.com

Misread the title as "Greenpeace's Custom Underwater Giant-Squid-Scam".
;-)
:-p
Then I saw things about a toy specialist and it really got me wondering.
Bah, as so often with misreads, the real story was boring in comparison.
I want Greenpeace squid scam conspiracies with toy specialists!
