    I think it is just a matter of time before Comcast decides to block all traffic to and from their VOIP competitors. How is that for competition?

    Comcast has a major disadvantage that the other VOIP providers don't have, that you can't move your box and phone to any IP connection, you have to be on the Comcast network. And since VOIP only requires about 90kbps any broadband connection should be able to handle it.

    More people saw the movie in the theatres than have ever seen anything from BitTorrent. And most studios won't pay to promote a movie if it is going to be given a way.
    Studio release and publicity IS the best way to get the message out.

    For everyone wonder why you would want to download instead of getting in the mail is the incredible Tivo interface. I hate trying to rewind or jump forward on a DVD, and that is after waiting through the "clever" menu mini-movie.
    As for the copyright problem, this is the first thing I thought of when I heard about the partnership. Of course Netflix just can't copy DVDs and make them available for download unless they are willing to redo every contract they have with ever motion picture producer.
    I would love to see this available, especially with the terrible selection of CinemaNow.com but I am not holding my breath.

    I think he will abandon the books mythos all together and not worry about conflicts.
    I think this is a real shame because there were so many great characters in the books. I like that spidery-type guy who could spin brain cells.

    The gmail search and threading interface is the best I have seen.
    I am currently using 1% of my gigabyte.

    Maybe Google had the crazy idea to make something that will work in 80+% of the computers out there.
    It is really boggling why they didn't make a version that would work on only 7% of the computers first.

    What Henry Ford did for certainly for his personal and corporate wealth, and also for the benefit of "the citizens". Is that greedy? Should he have done it for welfare?
    If there is no property right than how are you going to reward people who sacrafice their lives?

    Even hinting that property and commercial enterprise is not going to be possible in space is a sure way to cripple space exploration. All large scale exploration is done for either commericial or military gain, take your pick.
    For the near future though, exerting property rights over anything you can not "meaningfully control" goes against all the common law up to this point.

    As an "admin for a major university" I would hope you are basing upgrade decisions on the service pack numbers. Maybe do some research and check stability statistics and use cases.
    I guess this kind of reasoning is why Java 5 is so much better than Java 1.5.

    Think that is a good thing? The Minority Report and Total Recall books were ridiculously antiquated and would have made terrible movies if they hadn't been changed. In Minority Report punch cards were a major plot point.

    Doesn't the "soon to be released" MPx phone offer this service? It has 802.11b support and claims to be able to switch back and forth. Wouldn't it just be a software upgrade for these phones?

    How does the Chinese government expect to localize their "experiments" within their borders, whether they are successful or not?
