I agree with this post and the article. Furthermore, I can't remember the last time that I went out of my way to buy Levi's jeans. If it's on sale and it fits well and looks good, that's good enough for me.

Actually, somebody mentioned an R/C car. I think if you attached a camera to an R/C car and received the video on a monitor, it would make driving it even more fun. Imagine driving the little thing around on the ground and seeing what it sees.
Reminds me of the bank skit on SNL long ago. The bank would make change for you in any form you wanted, you could get 4 quarters to a dollar or a hundred pennies. That's all they did; they made change.
Anyway, in the commercial, the bank president says, "People are always asking us, How do you guys make money? Volume."
Seriously, if you use Emacs and like to keep notes on variou things, such as work, do yourself a favour and grab Emacs Wiki Mode.
It lets you set up a private Wiki, with each entry just a regular old text file. Honestly, I've spent a lot of time in the last decade coming up with my own record-keeping and note-taking tools and after I found out about Wiki, and especially Emacs Mode Wiki, I've never gone back to older techniques.
Google just started to find my page properly yesterday and today A9.com found it right away. Not bad as far as I'm concerned with this non-scientific, totally-biased test.
If there's no pressure, it's difficult to get started on something. Sometimes I'll just artificially create pressure by limiting resources to my tasks (perhaps unconsciously) so then I get it done better. I find when I'm under pressure, decisions are easier to make because you HAVE to decide something. You take all the information you have, mix it up in your head, and then choose one as best as you can, because you HAVE TO. Without pressure, it's hard to be motivated to decide anything.

I'm not sure, but I suspect the fact that we have 1/10th the population of the U.S. would help.

Hey, your user id is 560838. Thinking . . . thinking . . .
IT'S NOT PRIME!
There's really nothing like a soarn eagle. It's breathtaking. I suggest you try it.
Thank you, sir. That made me laugh.
Oh yeah? How about this: Don't believe the skype, don't-- don't-- don't believe the skype!
So the next time you're walking on the beach, enjoying an hourglass, or making cheap, low-grade windshields, think where we'd be without ... SAND!
Hey, so long as there's a three-breasted alien. It's all good.
Thank you for this. I was wondering if anybody else had noticed it.
Christ. Some people just don't get it.
He's doing this because he wants to and he enjoys it. A lot of us have high esteem for this work. This is what hacking's all about.
My thoughts exactly. Very nice work. My SFII engine (see link above :-) pales in comparison.

Can someone explain why there is a push for ID cards of this sort?
Sure, we do have driver's licenses and passports, but are people wanting to combine them just in the name of efficiency or what?
On the other hand, what's so bad about having a card like this?
The thing weighs 3kg! Maybe you could build up your wrist muscles while solving this thing.
Heh, you're paying for the fact that Sega no longer has a console.
I have 7 invites if anybody wants 'em.
I went to a couple shops and they have a half dozen copies on the shelves. I'm in Canada, though.
EmacsWikiMode is essential.

Nope, it's still screwy for me. Seems 25% of the
time, it renders Slashdot incorrectly. Reloading
often does nothing.

Well, that's a vote for "Cracks under pressure."

But that's just me.
If Sony were smart, they'd hire the X10 guys to do the advertising for this zoom feature!!
