  1. DVD Box Set on 7-Year Old Prequel Fan On ANH · · Score: 1

I am actually very excited for the full 6 episode dvd box set (probably HD DVD/Blu-Ray when it is released). I am going to watch them all in succession. I want to wait a while though so I can see everything like I would for the first time (I forget things easily).

There are some more links in his blog that are very interesting, especially the one that is about Uncle Owen not recognizing C-3PO.

I think you could easily transfer these findings into the OS world. Mac's and Linux are generally safe because they are a much smaller target. It wouldn't make the news as quickly, or as widespread as it does when they hammer Windows with viruses. It is not only more convenient, but more damaging to flood Windows with viruses.

I would be willing to wager a very large bet that if Mac OS X was the industry leader there would be the same difficulties with viruses, and other criminal activities that are currently associated with Microsoft's products.

It also definitely comes down to how adept the user is too, and how knowledgeable they are in internet/computer security (such as not opening email attachments unless you know how sent it, or using up-to-date virus protection).

I'm going to go ahead and disagree with you on this one. I hate to say it but Clear Channel in Minneapolis only plays 10 minutes of commercials per hour (on their FM stations). I'm not sure about how much they play on AM, but this argument is about FM. I agree that their play lists aren't that great, but don't try and tell me that it is commercial after commercial.

Have you watched TV lately? I can get through an hour show in less than 40 minutes some times with my TiVo, never over 40 minutes. That is 20 minutes of the same crappy commercials.

We even have a new NPR FM station that is fantastic if you are in the Minneapolis area that plays a ton of local homegrown music, along with a lot of other great indie stations. I really, really wish my iPod had FM just for that station alone.

I can always flip to other stations when I get bored.

You clearly listen to the wrong stations, or the radio in your neck of the woods is sub-par compared to Minneapolis.

I think it is completely wrong of them to use pre-rendered images, and say it is actual gameplay footage (killzone, anyone?), but I can't imagine that this early on the developers have even gotten close to figuring out the nuances of the systems.

It all comes down to the games. If a console has powers like a supercomputer, it still won't be fun if the games are terrible.

You don't play the hardware in the console, you play the games. That's all there is to it.

I agree, the hardware is going to be so close. It is going to come down to the software.

This is what Microsoft is betting on with releasing the console 6 months before. They are thinking that the earlier release is going to give them more time to have a strong library of games before the PS3 ever comes out.

What would you buy? A PS3 with 20 decent launch games? Or an XBox 360 with 80 games, with a bunch of them that are great?

I think most people will pick the second option. Look what Halo did for the Xbox. Now take that to the next generation, and not have any next-gen competition when they launch. People will be awestruck at the Xbox 360, even if the PS3 is more powerful (it won't matter because it hasn't launched yet at the time).
