I agree with copyright holders. Shame on you slashdot people! Wont you think of the children? How else will dodgy old men be able to get addicted to pain medication and molest little boys if they dont have a right to be given a penny every time you hear part of that one song that that britney spears person wrote as you are walking down the street and you hear a bit of it playing from some ghetto-wannabe persons ride? I say we allow the RIAA access to our homes and allow them to crash little kids birthday parties with guns blazing to mow people down for singing happy birthday. I think that makes sense, and stick with me here for a minute people - if we allow them to come and arrest us for inadvertently being exposed to content, then we can ALL sleep better at night knowing we have nothing to hide!!

PC video cards will actually work in the Mac Pro under Windows XP, they will not however work under OS X or during any of the pre-boot period of starting the machine...we got a lot of display corruption as you can see from the screenshot below...On the OS X side, if you try to boot with a PC video card you'll simply get a black screen from start to finish.
I'm a huge mac fan and this is my number one hardware complaint.
What? Huh?? Permission?? What are you guys talking about? I will make backups as I see fit, just like I always have with tapes, cds, dvds..../rolls eyes at silly media companies
I think it WOULD work for the new star wars films if they weren't crap. Beautiful movies, ruined by mediocre scripts and acting. Just my opinion. Actually I don't think they would even be half bad if they weren't hyped so much. There isn't nearly as much hype around new BSG or ST:TNG, that PREVENT your brain from ignoring those issues.
they DO come with two-button functional mice. how hard is it to see that all macs come with a mighty-mouse, or laptops, which come with a right click functionality built into the touch pad. way to back up your wild statements with a lack of experience and fact.
You should have been provided with an offer letter detailing the amount of relocation (at least in terms of $$ and vendor) that you would sign. If they did not provide this and the offer was purely verbal then I imagine it would take the form of any other verbal agreement. I used to work in HR and this was standard practice to include the total amount (i.e.: Offer relocation services with Company X not to exceed X dollars over X amount of time). Offer letter should include other details such as annual salary, sign on bonus, benefit plan, retention bonus and annual bonus if applicable.
Well I guess Tempest could look at it this way. Tons of people that would have never heard his track have had several highprofile chances to be exposed to it - and I have downloaded the mp3 version of his.MOD and added it to my music library. Would that have happened if some looser holywood producer didnt rip it off? I hope Timbaland gets his (which even in this case is probably a fat sack of money, but hopefully will include the outrage of the internet) , but I think that Tempest has probably had his song go much farther now than he ever intended.
For LOST you could use the iTunes store. The episodes are available the day after they air, and I just wait a couple weeks so I can watch a couple in a row. The season pass is usually around 30-50% cheaper than the DVD set. I do the same thing with Battlestar Galactica and it has served me well over the last year. The only issue is that the episodes are 640x480 which bothers some people, I think it looks fine. If you have a regular CRT it will look great, and it is still acceptable on HDTV.
I wonder how the airlines are going to keep inappropriate video (i.e. porn or even just movies like "Snakes on a Plane" or "Alive") from appearing on the seat-back displays.
I would imagine in the same way they keep people from reading hustler magazines on the flights - social humiliation and common decency. Besides, in this post 9/11 world, you *really* don't want to mess with flight attendants.
But seriously, its true. They show this in the southpark episode. The only way to compete with the uber-griefer was to become even bigger losers than he was! It is completely possible to just not care about being the most-uber and just play the game to have fun. I play about 5 hours a week. I am not level 60, and wont be for a while, but it doesnt matter because I get to enjoy some wow with my life, not have it BE my life.
That is what I like about wow. With rest, and shorter 5 man instances you can still get to 60 with 2-5 hour sessions of your chosing.
I wish I had mod points for you. This is very typical of/. and something I have been meaning to say. I think its pretty true across the internet too. (OMG never read the WoW forums, it will make your eyes bleed)
You know what would be a "compelling physical product?" CD's for $5.00.
Yup. The only way I would EVER give them money for a CD again. I have not purchased a CD in over 5 years, having obtained all my music illegally via the intarweb. I would gladly pay what I thought the music was worth. Five dollars sounds about right. I even think the 9.99 price is a little steep on iTunes, though I have purchased a few albums there.
download in Qtrax's proprietary ".mpq" file format. Users will then be able to play the downloaded.mpq file in full-fidelity sound quality for a pre-defined number of times.
I am sure most./'ers stopped at "proprietary". When will they learn? I don't want to deal with that crap. A file that only plays "X" times before it dies? Great, I purcahsed this mighty computer with a brain the size of a planet and I am using those cycles to determine how many times I can play "yellow submarine".
I'll just stick to free music and podcasts, thanks. I want some more DRM in my life, but I'm good. No, really I would love some, but I'm all set.
There's already quite enough of that on the internets thankyouverymuch!!! >
That was one of my favorites too (def. got a chuckle about Bobby being the Lama!) and was going to post something similar!

" I believe what happened is that they thought I would never accept the debate offer, and they planned to use that for p.r. purposes."
And then you didn't. And now they will. GG Jack!

lol. touché!! :)
I wonder how much sco.com will be sold for. Somebody should make it point to kernel.org, just as a lesson to the patent trolls.
The internet version of severed head on a pike. I like it!

How do you kill that which has no life?
Sorry, I had to!!

I think they would call it the MacBerry. shortly followed by MacBerryPro. :)
