I picked up XIII for the PS2 for Christmas. While it's based on a French comic, it technically isn't a sequel, so it would qualify. Definitely one FPS worth owning. Not only can you have all kinds of fun, the game is actually HARD! I haven't played a game that is hard since god knows when. You actually have to put some effort in to beat it.
I don't think the DMCA will get them. That's what they have CARB for, at least in Cali. Not to mention any emissions in your area. Luckily, my home county is completely emissions-crap-free. And I have plenty of family members who would be willing to allow me to register my car under them should i move...
This article is quite old, albeit funny. It doesn't really involve ANY form of tech whatsoever, tho hopefully it will bring nice people on VWV.
Basically, they tear out anything and everything they can and mod anything and everything they can that is free. So I do suppose that puts it with the overclocking crowds...
"Manos" The Hands Of Fate. Hands down deserves absolutely NO awards whatsoever, besides what I think to be the highest percentage rate of cast suicide due to release of said film.
Will Largo go into the Ever-Promised Hibernation? Largo has been ranting and raving about NWN since it was announced, it seems. And Before. I wonder. We shall see, we shall see.
UW Staff Bios. Read the very last one. Robert Winglee. He has been developing M2P2, a technology similar to Solar Sails, but much easier and efficient. I don't have a link to his essay on it [pdf], but it is very lengthy, and describes all the needs of such a system. Basically it takes gas, heats it to a very high temperature, strips away everything but the plasma, and shoots the plasma into a magnetic field which then catches the solar wind. Rather ingenious. Speed are incredible (twice current technology), and it has massive fuel economy. I was at a speech of his, in which he explained the technology, and it's competitors in the field. Basically, a solar sail is extremely inefficient, because it has to weigh nil, be thinner than paper, and not tear easily.
"Rather than form a federation with Microsoft and work with what we had already created, there was this notion that the world should be offered an alternative," Mundie said.
Now, I have two qualms with this: 1: Well, well, well. We sure do love that Columbus had the ALTERNATIVE to sitting on his butt for his life, ne? 2: I think he doesn't realize how stupid that comment was. In fact, he can shove it where the sun don't shine, because we all know that he uses alternatives. Bacon or Sausage, Mr Mundie?
Maybe you should make Case Mods a seperate category of news. I mean, lately there have been about 1 a day. that should be enough, considering some categories come up RARELY (Amiga, MacOS, etc). Just a suggestion. -teldak
Ahh!! I just watched something like 2 minutes of Invader ZIM, and loved it. I read a few pages of Johnny The Homicidal Maniac (Disturbing) and got hooked on it. My friend has the graphic novel of JTHM, so i guess i will have to borrow it. But when are Invader ZIM DVDs coming out? That'd be great to add to my DVDs.
Shrub Jr. and Heart Attack Man(tm) have done enough damage to our country already. They need to be kicked out of office as quick as Shrub Sr. should've been. At least Clinton never bothered reading a speech that said "I have three points to make here tonight. 1:' duhduhduh' 2: education 3: make education number 1.". And he doesn't believe in Strategery. Hah!
those morons in the US government. more numbers to memorize. God. It's horrible. In some areas, they are having to go to 11 digits for every goddang phone call as it is. I mean, it's good in the sense that i will have the internet available, becuz hopefully my mom will stop calling our neighbor when they're both outside, less than 200 feet away, on a perfectly fine day. but still, people don't want this becuz they don't want more numbers to memorize. and someone said something about spam: horribly true. Great, my toaster printed GOD^!%*& SPAM on my breakfast. yeah. I can't wait till my alarm clock wakes me up with "RESOLVE YOUR DEBT NOW! WE CAN CONSILIDATE ALL YOUR BILLS!"
What idiot thought this up? They need to be shot.
I live in a backwater town, have very low income (I'm 15. $5 for mowing the lawn is about it.). I couldn't get to the library, and even if i did, they prolly woulda been closed. the only other computer here is basically the same as this, but the modem's fried.
I would like it if you guys could e-mail us when uknew it goes down. I was about to destroy the only net-able pc in the house cuz it wouldn't access slashdot. then when i found out it wasnt this computer, I would destroy this computer even more.
contact a game developing studio, and ask them what they did. try to interview them or something. try www.superxstudios.com. my friend owns that company, and they released their first game about half a year go in UK. I have a copy that i could play, but this crap computer can't handle it. jthrush@superxstudios.com. he owns it and is the main coder.

Cheap notebooks with even cheaper batteries only used to take notes and stuff. I wonder if the shutdown time would be quick enough. Run bash, and Vi or emacs.
The problem with Linux Gaming is that hardware support can seem esoteric, or copletely foreign to a windows user. I got a computer that I installed Linux on a year and a half ago. I couldn't get the sound or modem to work (The modem sure looked like a Hardware modem, its an 8-bit 28.8). The thing is, most windows users won't want to deal with all the levels of hardware and software issues. Windows users (Hey, I tried Linux, but my box sucked, so I am gonna build another one) are used to installing the whole shebang at once, or having it preinstalled. If you gave me a SBL Value, a GeForce 2 GTS, a P!!! 600EB, hardware modem, and a good mobo, I still probably couldn't configure it right out of the box. Window seems to stifle people into thinking that they can't mess with the settings without breaking something.
I tried my hand at installing Wine on my Linux box (running rh61). It installed fine. After I figured out the CD was ISO-9906 (or was it ISO-9960?, seriously). And on previous knowledge was I only able to find and modify Fstab. And the CD was burnt on a Windows box of my friends. Once I finally did get Wine installed, I set the reg files up for it. I tried my hand at installing StarCraft. Unfortunately, it didn't work, only because of the crappy sound card.
I think what I am trying to say, is that Windows users want to be able to have the crappy, bug-ridden, Microsoft-written code because of the drivers. The crappiest software based card will work find under windows, yet die under linux. They don't want to have to mess around in Fstab, deal with mounting, installing, and in general, figuring things out.
Unless a game is made solely for Linux, with a perfect installer that works on every machine, no matter how cheap, old or beat up, then you won't get nearly as many people to migrate to Linux for gaming.
Seriously, I mean, I suppose if it were in their facilities they would have the right to track it, but is it legal at all to track someone outside of your company's facilities, cept legal wiretaps, etc..? I don't really see any reason as to why a company would need this, in the way of it being mission-critical... Why? Why do you need this Sun? Makes you wonder even more. What happens when you take the product into a competitor's werehouse (spchek?)?
LEGAL PRECENDENT! If you can do some research and find a case that exists, with similar circumstances (in this case, against blocking software), get all the info you can on it. If it rules in your favor, present it, if it's not in your favor, discount each and every argument point. Remember, it's your best friend or worst enemy.
Okay man, this is my suggestion: Write letters to the newspaper. Write letters to School officials. Find school employees who consider BESS incompetent and get them to write letters to newspapers and school officials. Get well-known public figures (I.E. local business owners, government officials, etc...) and show them BESS's stupidity. Have them write letters to newspapers and school officials. Influence the people and you will influence the goverment, because it's a democracy. Have other students write letters. Start a petition. Find other ways to motiv8 people. Don't be passive.

My parents put $1500 into this Dell. Only $70 was mine (to upgrade to a GeForce4 Ti4200). Simply put, I can't put linux on it because I don't own it.

I love the wording. i will start using it around MCSE teachers.
