Because the number of users whom don't care or didn't read this news is greater than the people that do. And they will continue to use the service no matter what.
Yeah, the problem it seems, is Firefox not releasing Memory when it's no longer in use. This has been an issue for years, but the devs seem more concerned with implementing features nobody wants; like that new Download manager and linking Web History with Download History so clearing one also clears the other.
What gets me is the OS is Linux based, yet they continuously snub their Browser on actual Linux desktops. To me, it looks like they don't have good leadership and have their priorities backwards.
Now, I don't WANT it (the OS) to fail, but maybe the community needs it to fail in order to put the zap on their heads and get their act together.
See, that's what I've been saying, Consoles are going bye-bye. People have come to the conclusion that the previous Gen is just as good and not worth upgrading. And didn't devs already say the next generation of Video Games will be $100+?.
I really haven't heard any young people talking much about the Next Gen. Frankly I think they are more concerned with their Phones than sitting at home in front of a Television. I predict this new Gen of Consoles will pan out to be in-line with what happened to Wii U.
I'll personally be playing my Ouya and not concerned about what happens to the big boys. I still have a PS1, PS2 and SNES with tons of Games that treat me just fine and not like a Criminal or trying to Rape my pockets and have silly requirements like phoning home.
But how so if the Game is locked to the original owners box?. That's not even the worst part, the worst part is that people will buy this new Console, oblivious to the downfalls. I have a question also, what if your Console breaks and you need to buy a new one, do you also need to buy new games? I suspect not, but I imagine you would need to jump though hoops.
I've been pimpin' the Ouya to people as much as possible. So even if a few percent of the Market Share is taken away from the 'Big Dogs', I'd be happy.
Unfortunately, million and millions of brainwashed masses will buy one; maybe even two. Nobody cares about privacy and the like anymore. I collected about a dozen or so links to real facts about Skype and the backdoors for Law Enforcement etc, and posted on many topics, nobody cares man. In fact they will attack you textually. They could announce right now that in order to use the Xbox One, you need an Always-on camera and a full time connection to a monitoring dept.; it would sell like hotcakes.
I've come to the conclusion that there is no hope for Humans and they completely ruin it for people who DO care about their privacy and other matters. So just let them have their fun and in the end it will bite them in the ass.
I actually like Xubuntu, less eye candy than you can shake a stick at and is faster than Windows could dream of. Hey, no fragmentation has it's advantages. Switched last year after a 15 year Windows run. Zero compatibility issues with Native apps or my Win Games. No Crashes and I don't have to worry about being locked in to an App Store or forced to upgrade by cutting me off of Security Updates and removing all references to self help from the companies site. Believe me when I tell you, no entity paid me to say this.
I like that Idea. If a Company has a product that it refuses to sell, license, update, support or any other option that allows people to continuing to use their product for whatever reasons; then, the Company should have two options:
A) Open Source B) Placed in Public Domain without the Source Code.
The whole thing works itself out. If it's Open Sourced, people can make it better and have a alternative. If It's released freely without the Source, eventually usage of the product would halt as host Operating Systems progressed, which is what the Company wanted in the first place. It's same as if you legalized Drugs, the addict would eventually stop using, or OD which ends the subjects life -- problem resolves itself.
haha yeah I know what you mean. Always thinking you need to defrag, clean out temp files etc to gain more speed because something didn't 'feel right'. Wiped Windows, Installed Xubuntu, realized absolutely nothing was wrong with my Computer except Windows. Makes me wonder if that's why some people buy a new machine, because of the dreaded Windows degrading performance over time. Well, that and along with having to run software they won't update anymore, AKA Forced Upgrade.
After almost a year of extremely heavy use in Linux, It's just as fast as the day I Installed it. Now that's real innovation. As far as fragmentation in Linux? Old timers were right, e4defrag reports that absolutely nothing is fragmented. And no, new Software doesn't make a Computer new since the Software totally relies on the Hardware. But when you change out all your components for new goodies and smell that new scent, that's what makes a Computer New.
What the hell do you think powers electronics, Hot Dogs and Dough nuts?. It's using Electricity even if it's turned off. And who is Scaremongering? I said the FUTURE will tell if it's true, get a clue honcho.
Exactly. I think people aren't getting it though, with this and the Router; It's starting to become pretty clear that our invisible signals are having an effect on nature. The future is going to tell whether or not it's negative. If it is negative, I can't see people caring much until all of nature has been wiped out by our selfish and care free lifestyles. Isn't that how it works now, Ignorant until it's too late?.
And a lot of those sets are out of warranty. That means no updated software for the already available hacks. That means some clever hacker could drive by your house and watch you. I admit it's probably not likely, but it can be done if some pervert was willing.
Flamebait or not, I think in the end, all the tests and experiments will show that WiFi has a negative effect on both Animals (Including Humans) and Plant life. If Magnets can negatively impact Human behavior, why do people deny these invisible signals of don't?. I'm not saying they do or don't, I'm just saying the test results will show a negative light on these signals.
All my equipment is wired by the way, and It's going to stay that way. Not only because of the unknown, but for performance and security reasons.
They didn't have what we have now. While, for them it was 100% fantasy and 0% reality. In the here and now we actually have the Technology to make it happen, it's no longer a daydream. Unless you're saying they predicted AI and Automated machines would replace future generations, us. Like it or not, it's already started to happen, like the robot that makes Burgers and all the Automation on production lines that replaced Human beings. But 30 years, I don't think so, we live in a world now where one year goes by as fast as two months, although, it's possible.
Oh please, even on a super computer the Firefox UI is as slow as Molasses. I can say that since I use Firefox everyday as my main browser. Why should I stick up for something that I know has issues. He wasn't even talking about RAM, he was speaking of lightness, like Midori for instance; Firefox use to be lean and mean like Midori.
I haven't personally looked into it, but I'd be highly interested in a Fork that brings it back to what it use to be. I can't find any information, but for Linux, as of last year the 3x branch of Firefox was still being updated; but don't quote me on that.
It's always been funny to me, I find it silly that Humans all but worship Element 79, other Metals and Paper. The only value any of it has, is the value given to it by feeble Human minds.

You know what idiotic thing they did? They combined Download and Web History. So since FF20, when you clear one, they both go. The reason they give is because Options such as that are hard to maintain. BS. Not to mention that silly, huge, Download dialog. Are they trying to scare people away or what?.
Duh, because 7 will be EOL soon, updates will stop, vendors will halt driver development etc. Windows isn't Linux, at least if a distro is at EOL, someone usually back-ports updates. You just can't compare Open Source to Closed Source. Also, in true Microsoft fashion, you won't be able to get previous updates either, they love to remove all references to self help. Not to mention the DRM and questionable privacy issues related to Law Enforcement and Governments.
I'm sorry, after 15 years of Microsoft, instead of another forced upgrade; they actually forced me to a better Open Source OS. I quickly found that I could customize the look in any way I see fit, I have the exact same functionality as I did in Windows. There is nothing I miss, except the Hand Cuffs. And after a Year of use so far, I can't understand why people still use Windows, or I do, but their reasons are invalid.
...If, in 2000 Years, my old bones will be scooped up out of the ground by some anti-gravity Bulldozer and used as a beauty product ingredient. Can you imagine some teen-aged Girl applying Lipstick made from my Bones?. Would she would be shocked that the product she is placing on her silicone-enhanced lips once belonged to a Slashdot poster whom used an actual Desktop Linux box?. Nah, she wouldn't care and wouldn't have the faintest of clues as to what a Slashdot was.
Obviously I wouldn't care, and I seriously doubt the Mayans whom built this Temple care. It's a tragedy for Archaeologists and History buffs like myself, but the Earth continues to tick without it.
As someone that has been to quite a few quacks, I can tell you that's true. You wait an hour in the lobby, go to the back with a grumpy psychiatrist and his assistant; sit down and answer his questions. His questions are very personal and usually confusing and feel designed to make you upset. After about 10 minutes he writes you some prescriptions, tells you to come back next month but doesn't tell you what's wrong with your Brain.
You have to take the prescriptions, because next month when you come back, some blood-work will be issued to make sure you're taking the medication. If you're not taking it, the quack will not see you anymore. Unless your problem is extremely severe, I have found that eating right, exercise, social activities and a good Vitamin work just as well.
You have to understand, unless your case is severe enough for hospitalization, the whole process is designed to extract funds from you. Eighteen years worth of these people, I should know. Yes, I'm a local Slashdot loony, nice to meet you.
Apologies if I overlooked a Comment. With that said, I'm surprised nobody has brought up Cell thefts and Password Authentications. With Phone theft on the rise, It's logical that Authentication via Cell Phone isn't as secure as it's made out to me. Heck, Google is damn near forcing people to add a #, hows me? I don't even own a Phone so how the heck am I suppose to access GMail.
If they want me to add a Cell, then maybe they need to buy and keep up the payments on a Phone for me. I seriously dislike being forced to do things I feel are not in my best interest, both financially and mentally. Forcing, isn't that what Slavery was about?.
It's a Monkey see Monkey do kinda of thing. Some Teen sees his friends with the newest Phone and they want one also. They would probably be laughed at and bullied if they didn't. But I agree with you, I'm fine with outdated Tech as long as it still does what I want it to do; I don't even own a phone, I don't have a use for one currently.
In my opinion, Tech is the new Religion, most of it is a want, not a need. It's a Crutch.
Because the number of users whom don't care or didn't read this news is greater than the people that do. And they will continue to use the service no matter what.

Judging by pre-orders and their Kickstarter, Ouya. Totally open.

Homeopathy is worse. After they finish diluting your pee, you're just drinking Water.
Voting for a Republican is going to make it all better huh. After they kiss your wounded feelings, they are going to kick you in the cojones, amigo.
