It's almost one year now since I jumped into the Linux lake, I don't regret it at all. I'm going to be blunt, I got tired of worrying about drive-by malware and being forced to upgrade by cutting off security updates, I mean even if a Car is well past it's Warranty, it can still be repaired. I also got tired of having to use whatever UI was forced upon me with no choice.

I have had zero problems finding replacements for software and games I once used, and the games I played work good in Wine. I know why it's so hard to switch, it's an addiction, you've smoked that MS Crack and now you look to them as a Father or Mother; not realizing you can fly the coop anytime you want if you get over that three day hump. But like Smoking, I tried several times before and failed, I'm very thankful it took root this time.

Yes I understand people have gotten addicted to Games that are just not really possible to play on Wine, even I secretly wish I could play one or two; but it's not important enough for me to turn away. I also understand people don't have much of a choice when purchasing a new PC and don't have the tech know how to install something else. But where there is a will, there is a way; if you like you can remove those chains of Slavery and jump in that lake. You just make up your mind to do it, and jump.

As far as Miguel, he is a traitor and I hope he enjoys his closed, walled-in garden. Good riddance and don't come back.

The 'relationship' is wide open at this point, everyone is wondering around trying to find a new partner to grasp onto. As long as Software is still taking advantage of x86-16/32/64, it's not going anywhere. You know what they say, if it's working and no clear option exists for change; then leave it be.

That's right, but we both know that Modern was the first step for removing the Classic UI. Yes more people use Windows, but when XP and 7 finally have their support ended, the people using those Microsoft platforms will be forced into using precisely what they are avoiding, the 'modern' interface. It's going to be interesting to watch if they move to Mac, Linux or suck up to Microsoft and push themselves into that new UI.

Let's say they pushed themselves into that new UI. Now after months and years of using that, they will be hooked into it by Microsoft's hooks. At that point, switching to Mac or Linux would be extremely difficult due to the UI differences. It would be devastating for the future of Linux without a similar UI, that's what worries me. For Linux to have any future, the users of these OS's which support is ending, need to jump in our (Linux) lake and let their feet get wet.

That's how I'm thinking, it may be difficult for some to understand what I mean. In any case, Defender's Quest shows that there is money in the Platform. And I don't give a hoot what Microsoft is doing, I have already jumped in the Linux lake and no interest in going back again. But there are a lot of folks that, apparently, enjoy being chained up and forced to do things. You can't save the world, so grab whoever you can, unchain them, and run as fast as you can before the roof caves in.
