I only discovered Guitar Hero III last week and I'd like to see them release any albums they can get their hands on as playable tracks - the best Metallica albums, Pantera, Sepultura, etc. I don't mind if they don't take it to the level of the Aerosmith release (mo-cap on the talent, etc), just bring across the songs.

The default install of the printer drivers for my last HP printer meant that I had 4-5 processes running continuously for a printer that I used barely twice. Ridiculous.

    Also on my shitlist:

AVG - for popping up "finished the scan" or "updated your virus definitions" messages and stealing mouse focus every day.

Acrobat - you'd think the contextual "Convert to PDF" option on right-click could just convert in the background and create a PDF in the same directory, but no, it has to open Word, then ask where to save the document (starting in a default directory each time) and then create the PDF, and then open the PDF. Batch convert and you have to deal with this manually each time. Excruciating.

Outlook 2k - can't minimise a Reminder if you don't want to Snooze or Dismiss it.

CFStudio - chokes sometimes when editing over FTP and can, unless you're careful, mean that you lose the contents of the file.

Around about the same time, Gabriel Funes was quoted in the Vatican newspaper saying that the discovery of alien life wouldn't disprove the existence of god, etc.

  11. Re:Misstep? on id Software Announces Doom 4 · · Score: 1

Doom and Doom II both had triggers revealing monsters, just like Doom 3, but perhaps the difference was that they were revealed in a plainer way (less realistic graphics, for example) such that they were presented as a simpler challenge (kill this sprite) rather than a more realistic surprise or scare? You knew exactly how many shotgun blasts it would take to kill an imp or a pink beast.

I loved Doom and Doom II, playing both many times, but never bothered finishing Doom 3 - just lost interest. It was a lot less run-and-gun which is what I like in a first person shooter. Doom 3 seemed like more of an interactive movie than a game, at least from the bits that I played.

(Sorry, struggling to explain why I didn't like it.)

They will instead continue down the path of selling software (including games) via iTunes (or a similar mechanism) and become a gateway for other developers in the same way they sell music.

A lot of troublemakers aren't that technically minded and this stops people when an IP ban won't or can't (e.g., a whole company or ISP).

Other things worth trying are suspending posts from new/anonymous contributors or sharing the moderation workload (whether you moderate by approving held posts or removing auto-live posts).
