Only 3 companies sold more computers than Apple last quarter. Dell, HP, and either Gateway or Lenova (IBM). Apple came in 4th in sales. Not bad for a stupid computer company.
It wouldn't help me too much when I'm driving to work unless I hold my iPod in front of me. But I seem to think that would increase my chances of getting in a collision. So, no I don't see music videos in my purchasing future.
I actually preferred New Coke to Coke. But I was a teenager at the time. Sweet drinks were the requirement. Now I can't drink any soft drink that isn't diet.
At least in helping big business. Let's see first they make it easier for big business to steal your property. Now they make sure that cable remains a monopoly.
in the united states, it's legal to sell armour-piercing ammuniction -- bullets whose sole purpose of design is to go through bullet proof vests; obviously a device designed to kill or maim human beings. the manufacturers to do not even make the pretense of proposing other uses for said ammunition. this activity is all fine and legal.
by comparision, a device that may or may not be designed for, but is certainly capable of, infringing copyright is deemed illegal. the manufacturers at least attempt the pretense of proposing legal uses for the technology and make a somewhat-better-than-marginal case for its legit use. this is not fine or legal.
How about this? In the United States, its legal to grow and smoke a plant that is known to cause cancer and kill you, but its illegal to grow and smoke a plant that can be used to relieve the pain from the cancer caused by the legal plant mentioned above.
Its all about big business. Weapons and defense is big business. File sharing apps are not. Tobacco and drug companies are big business.
Not really. There are prisoners in a military jail in Norfolk who the gov't has labeled as terrorists and they have no access to lawyers. Some of them have been in jail for over a year with no charges against them at all. See this article: http://home.hamptonroads.com/stories/story.cfm?sto ry=87136&ran=93787
Hopefully it will prevent corporations from opening bogus operations in states that don't tax. For example, the state of Washington is loving millions of dollars in taxes from Microsoft because Microsoft has opened entities in Nevada which doesn't tax them. I've already decided that my 2 year old son won't go to college. Instead, he's going to be a 1st round draft pick in baseball. So instead of studying every night and doing homework, I'm going to have him in the backyard throwing a baseball. I'll do his homework.
His twin sister will go to college though. She's going to become a lawyer because he's going to need a really good agent.
I've purchased over 400 songs from iTMS. I go through stages where I'll go months without buying anything and then I'll spend $50 in one night. The store just makes it to easy to buy music. I still have a problem with DRM although it hasn't had any affect on my music. I don't share it out to anybody. I don't live on a campus. I have more of a gripe with the audio format being only 128Kb. I'd prefere a lossless format and I hope that day will come. But I can live with 128K. It actually sounds pretty good. Even better than a lot of my older cd's from the 80's which apparently weren't recorded too well anyway.
The biggest complaint I have is that I really don't own a physical copy of my music. I downloaded an album from iTMS. After listening to it quite a bit, I realized that I really don't like it. But there's nothing I can do about it. If I had purchased the CD, I could take it down to my local independent music store and sell them the CD and get a few bucks back. Thats the biggest problem I have with purchasing online. So if you are going to purchase an album online, better make damn sure you are going to like it.
Instead of going after people who download the shows, companies like HBO should make their shows available for download to paid subscribers. I get HBO, but I am almost never watch the TV that has HBO on it. Why don't they provide a way for me to download the shows to my own computer?
You can be a star in Cuba and earn $1000 month probably less or escape to America and get a million dollar signing bonus just because you're Cuban regardless if you have any talent.

It might have been useful 100 years ago when we were an agricultural society, but I just don't see the benefit now.
If you want daylight, get up earlier.
Yeah, deregulation has really helped me with my cable bill. Since Cox has become deregulated, my bill has gone up over 200%.
I'm for deregulation, but only when there is competition.
So why wait for Longhorn when you can do that now with OS X.

I haven't either and I'm married! Thats what twins will do.
Nobody will be allowed to go in the sun without Amazon suing you.
Its less dangerous than alcohol because the effects wear off sooner.

Maybe because there are only two manufacturers left for video cards. No competition equals high prices.

We're mostly a bunch of sheep.
Support your local stores, not the big conglomerates.

Apple is a software company who makes money off their hardware.

Would we ever expect an organization who profits from piracy to proclaim that the rate of piracy might be decreasing?

I'm sure Microsoft has set up a corporation in Canada which does allow exporting of goods to Cuba.
My kids have put about a million fingerprints on all my dvds.
Steve Ballmer just convinced me.
