  1. Series 1? on TiVo to Go Released · · Score: 1

What about my lifetime support for my series 1?
Oh, wait, what? I don't get banner ads when they happen? ..nevermind then.

  2. "OK" if they do it , but doesn't mean it's OK . on New iPod Firmware Locks Out RealNetworks Music · · Score: 1

Defend Apple all you want, this stinks. Bottom line, Real sells music b/c it has DRM - it's how they get the industry's permisison. now apple tried to shorten Real's market. Good business move? Sure, according to numbers. Good busisness move? Horrible, according to PR. Typical Apple? Dead on.

Another reason I'll stay away from Apple products.

  3. Great fan fare, but what really happened? on Reliving The Glory Days of SGI · · Score: 1

What a weak article. It talks about the current cult like following of SGI, but says nothing about what actually happened to the company. Why did it die, who killed it, mis-managed? Surely they could have kept in the market if it weren't for inept directors and managers. I don't want to hear how the PC market or Mac market killed them, they could have, and should have, kept a leg up on future technologies.

  4. Screw spam, let them take on spyware/malware! on Microsoft Sues Spammers · · Score: 2, Insightful

Spyware and malware is partly their fault. If they really want to clean up their own image, apologize and take on the jerks who cause so much frustration. This stuff is killing productivity, costs millions, and drives people crazy.

    Spam's got nothing on spyware.

  6. Easy fix, season pass priorities, then reruns. on Network Scheduling to Mess with Tivo · · Score: 1

It's simple, I put the season passes of shows which do this at a lower priority than normally scheduled shows. If a show goes over, or starts early, and I have another show that I want, it will get the other. No conflict, then I get it.

Sure, Tivo doesn't record one episode of my season pass, but it's the network's scheduling at fault. I just won't watch their programming that night. Once re-runs come around, it will automatically record the episode which I haven't seen yet. VOILA.

We all know that my viewing habbits are somewhat tracked by tivo. Therefore networks will discover that I won't put up with their crap. - click, channel changed.

  7. Valve, you have a bit of damage control to do! on Valve Cracks Down on 20,000 Users · · Score: 1

Maybe I'm completely mis-informed here, but if I am Valve has a lot of damage control to do.

I'm in the process of building a nice pc, and have been planning on purchasing HL2. Now I'm affraid to do it.

I just can't stomache the idea of "owning" a game that I don't have enough rights even to play it w/o an internet connection. I have one, but it comes down to the principal of it all.

What happens if Valve goes down? Or their servers have a problem. When I want to play a game that's on my computer why should I ask permission from a server that may or may not be up? The whole "in 5 years when I reinstall the game" bit. Too scary for me to plunk down my hard earned money for. Too big brother.

I don't think I can buy it. Steam doesn't seem to have the personel or resources to handle heavy loads of customer support. Did I hear right that isnt' even a support phone number?

  8. P2P? on Porn Site Sues Google Over Linked Images · · Score: 1

Surely we can see the similarity between this and how p2p software is responsible for pirating - providing a mechanism. Google must, and will win, and this will be used in p2p cases.

  9. Took too long. on Thin CRTs to Challenge LCDs in 2005 · · Score: 1

I'm suprised that it took them so long to recognize that the size of large crts is a problem. But I'm not sure 32" @ 16" is a big enough improvement. I have a sony crt hdtv, while it's 34" diagonaly, it's also 22" deep. True, it's 6" different, but I would think that the slim-down would be more significant.

  10. Series 1, oh yeah. on TiVo to Sell Your Fast-Forward Button · · Score: 2, Informative

I apologize for all my whining when I heard that TiVo was going to stop updating my Series 1 software. Now I'm glad I stuck with my old classic.

Once again, our Series 1 value bounces back. I have a series 1 w/ network card, additional hdd, web interface, and lifetime service. You couldn't pay me to trade a series 2 for my series 1.

  11. share fakes? on MPAA Sues Movie-Swappers · · Score: 1

I really really really want to share gigs of fake files - movie names, bogus content. Not to mess with downloader but see if I can get a court date from the MPAA. I'd love to sit back and show my home videos to the judge.

  12. not due until the end of 2006?? vapor what? on Konfabulator Coming to Windows · · Score: 3, Insightful

not due until the end of 2006!?

This is what vaporware dreams are made of. I doubt we'll ever see an official release of konfabulator. With that kind of target date for release there will be dozens of other copycats ready to get their versions embeded with spyware out to the masses.

  13. Series 1, baby! + People will stop buying. on TiVo Plans More Functionality Reductions · · Score: 1

Thank goodness they dropped software updates for series 1 TiVos! It looks like the series 1 resale value is going to stay high. (guessing, didn't read the whole article).

BTW, keep this up, Tivo, and people are going to stop buying these things. Who wants a dvr w/ dvd recorder if you can't record everything you want? I'm not buying one.
