"Spider man the movie was very true to the comic. The movements of the 3d character were very close to what the comic books portray. The movements, the poses, and the motions of spiderman in the comic are not what you would expect from a real person, they are all highly exaggerated. I think the the movie did a superb job in staying true to the comic."
Exactly. They weren't trying to simulate the motions of a man, they were simulating a Spider-Man! Who can say how a Spider-Man should look and move?
The same can be said about the matrix. Since these aren't supposed to be people fighting, they are computer simulations of people (they're in the matrix after all). What better way to portray computer simulations of people, than by simulating them in a computer!
... or 15 years too late? When I was a young lad, we had a service from out cable company for downloading games. There was a little box that we had to plug into the side of our Intellivision game console, and for a small fee (something like $10-20/month, can't remember exactly) we had access to approx. 20-30 games. They usually changed the selection monthly, but the more popular games stayed for several months.
I gave PE a try. I managed to walk about 50 yards before I got killed by an animal. I then travelled in my dead "spirit form" to the nearest outpost, and managed to resurrect myself. Then, due to some weird network hiccup, I instantly jumped about 10 feet to the left, which happened to be inside a locked room. There's no way out. Every time I'd reconnect to the game, I was still in that room. Gave up after about 15 minutes. Stupid piece of crap game.
"I was actually able to download the video using my full bandwidth. Does that mean no one cares?"
No, it means it's hosted by hp. Big servers, big bandwidth. This ain't no P3 Linux box on a cable modem. Some sites can actually handle a good slashdotting.
The thumb can be useful depending on your key config preferences. My brother invented a keyboard/mouse layout that works wonderfully for fps. Goes as follows:
Right hand Fire: left mouse Forward: right mouse Alt fire: mouse wheel button
Left hand Backward (ring finger): left shift Crouch (middle finger): Z Jump (index finger): X Left Strafe (pinky): left ctrl Right Strafe (thumb): spacebar
Any other commands can be placed around the left hand on keys like A,S,D,C,F,V etc.
It's amazing how easy it is to circle-strafe with your pinky and thumb on ctrl and space. Give it a try for an hour or two, and you'll be a convert, I'm sure.
Don't forget about all the environmentalists compaining about the birds that are killed by wind turbines. I don't think there is any truely clean source of energy.
Just found some more stats on statcan.ca. The "extented golden horseshoe", or the the urban areas around the west end of lake ontario largely considered as the "real" greater toronto area, had a population of 6.7 million according to the 2001 census. It also accounts for more than half of Canada's total population growth.
Those figures you stated are for the greater metropolitan areas of each of those cities. According to the 1996 census, the greater Toronto area had a population of 4,492,000. After the amalgamation of the city of Toronto with all it's boroughs, current estimates put that number up over 9 million. That's right, almost 10% of Canada's population lives in and around the Toronto area.
Generally, lines speeds are measured in base ten, so gigabit is correct in this case.
You could put a few dozen gigabit lines in, and it still wouldn't do you any good if the web server is running on a 486SX.
My cable modem is still pegged at it's max. It's only 110KB/s, but not bad considering the popularity of this download.
His subject heading has a typo, but it's not a typo of a typo, it's just a regular typo. A gibibit is a real unit. No, really, it is!

There is no spoon!
I second that. Must... have... tivo... gah
"Why is it a "beatles"-esque pun? Please don't say "go ogle" or I'll punch you in the face until I can't tell it's a face anymore."
Because "Beatles" is also a made up word. It's a play on "Beetles", but they do music, hence "Beat"les. Punny, isn't it...
"Didn't Yahoo switch from Google to Inktomi?"
Last line on the yahoo search results page: "Search Technology provided by Google"

I prefer the old Car and Driver comparison tests. They don't seem to do them anymore, but a couple of my favourites were:
- Chrysler Intrepid vs. USS Intrepid (aircraft carrier)
- Chevrolet Beretta vs. 9mm Beretta (handgun)

I always post in Plain Old Text mode, and I've never used all caps. Very strange that it doesn't work for you.

Unfortunately the Hauppauge unit doesn't work in Canada. It uses TitanTV for listings, and they're USA only. I guess I'm stuck with ATI...

You know it. A nice trackman marble ball in the end of a tube sock can deal quite the death-blow :)
Eureka marketing moment! You can call it a refrigerouter! :-P
"Yes, but cars have much stricter safety tests."
How do you know that? There aren't any fuel cell laptops available right now, so I'm pretty sure the safety standards haven't been set yet.
Should have got the IBM T40. Check out these specs from the CNET review:
:-)
"anywhere from 256MB to a big 2GHz of speedy 266MHz DDR SDRAM"
Whoa, 2GHz of RAM? So big and new, they had to change the units of measure

Oops, I meant 30%. Sorry about that.
