Breaking DVD encryption is already a DMCA violation in the 2600 case if I recall. And if the product breaks the DVD encryption, it violates the DMCA by a set precadent. Keep in mind, I have no problem backing up DVDs for personal use that is allowed under Fair Use(and I hate warez kiddies), but 321 has it's work cut out for them:-(
Speaking as someone who works for AT&T Broadband and who is helping customers transition to the new domain, we don't give it to other companies, and we never plan to sell our customer's out like that. Most likely it was someone clever enough to realize that nearly every ne.mediaone.net account has become the same thing except it's @attbi.com
Mythic Entertainment already has the servers post 'scoring' info onto a web server, the Herald lists players scores(called Realm Points) and updates automagically, as well as the entire realm status.
As I said when I submitted this 5 hours ago(no I'm not bitter:-) ), is that this technology has potential for very good non-military uses. The enchancing of strength could help people with Muscular Schirrosis move around more freely, or help people who've had a leg smashed by a car or something walk again. Lots of fuzzy warm stuff could result from the development project that can benefit humanity(as well as letting otakus live out anime dreams of a exosuit).
"Ambrosia roll call!" I loved all the MST3K references including the 'Song to the theme of MST3K' lyrics. Ambrosia put a lot of nice little references into EV, and hopefully they'll be a lot of them here in Nova as well
Escape Velocity was the first shareware program I paid for(I was 15 or 16 at the time), and man it was worth it. The game didn't have the best graphics, or coolest sound effects, but it was still an amazingly addictive game. I have no doubt that EV:Nova will be worth it's pricetag as well.
Battle.net is their own network that they created. I think it's reasonable that they want people to log on with only Blizzard authorized clients and not to use a emulator for that. Just my opinion on the matter...
7 PM EST sunday night? Talk about a toss it and forget it time slot! Half the episodes get preempted(and cancelled for the night) by sports events, award shows that we don't care about, etc
If you gave Futurama the 8:30 slot(currently in use by Malcom in the Middle, directly after the Simpsons), Futurama would do a lot better ratings wise.
No more N64 controller...anyways, ya, sucks that Loki isn't doing well, but honestly, the Linux game market isn't nearly as profittable as the Windows one. Maybe it's because a lot of Linux users have a Win partition and rather than wait for 'Awesome Game X' to get ported, they buy the Win version...
Speaking of banning guns, here's a quote from the Chatterbox radio station in GTA3
Caller:... and countries that don't have guns are unamerican.
Lazlo(the host): I think you touch upon a good point there sir. Countries that don't have guns not American.
Chatterbox Rocks, I pray in GTA4 they have even more Lazlo Oh, according to one of his callers, there was a Austrialian-American war, where the Aussies wired kangeroo's with explosives.:-)
I'm not even from Australia(though my dog is a Aussie Shepherd), and this makes me mad. GTA3 is such a great game. I am almost mad enough to fly down there, rip some OFLC member out of their car and run over them a few times while leading the cops in a high speed intnercity chase. What? No, video game violance doesn't inspire real violance!
Honestly, the story of MGS2 seemed to...well, fall a little loose as the game wrapped up. It went from really nice in the majority of the game but became to a tad too philiosophical for it's own good near the end.
Also it seemed that some of the neater things(the sword, the partner mode) were SERIOUSLY underused and both were so cool!
Oh, and I disagree with the thought in the article that Raiden was 'overly feminane looking', nancy might be a better for him:-)
All in all, I still enjoyed it greatly. Great game, maybe we'll even see a sequel. One can hope
If you are on your 6th PS2, then there's something VERY wrong at your end. My PS2 locked up maybe once in 8 monthes, and was fixed by simply hitting the reset button. Seriously, what's the room temp like? And are you blocking the exhuast ports in the back?
-MS gets to increase it's market share(by displacing Macs in schools)
-Does not need to change it's monopolistic practices
-Gets a $1.1 billion tax writeoff(They will try to write that off)
Wow, sounds like a great deal....for Microsoft and states idiotic enough to sign this(Kickbacks anyone?)
The difference between radio and the onstar thing is that the radio does NOT spontaniously turn itself on. You expect to hear stuff from it. you do not expect to hear OnStar speaking to you, so it is more distracting than the radiio in that respect. Plus, if a OnStar customer has no clue this is going to happen driving down a busy street with no one else in the car at the time they are likely to be freaked out hearing a voice within the car speaking to them.
"The State of California has renamed itself.... State of Emergency" -Radio news guy from The Critic(while it was on ABC)
Is the Framingham theater near any MBTA stops(either bus or subways?). I might have to go check it out :-)

You should read the YRO section more often, there's some good stuff there, like this

This story seems oddly familar

Microsoft doing something unethical to try to get out of a possibly harsh anti-trust penalty?! Surely you jest

Most judges have no clue what a MMORPG is. let alone what the hell BSI will be talking about...
I hope those losers at BSI lose bad.
