I'm hoping that Dodge alternates the cylinders so they wear/build up carbon evenly. It'd be kinda bad to have the engine heat up unevenly because only 4 cylinders are being used most of the time, and the other four tend to stay cooler.. Switch cylinders every other revolution...
A magazine (not sure which, friend gave me highlights of the story) said the engine went from 4 to 8 cylinders seamlessly. Yea, not as efficient as a real 4 rodent engine, but it's an improvement that satisfies my desire for gobs of power, and helps out with emissions and fuel economy.
Yea, but I only hit the brakes a few times in my 16 mile commute from home to work. It's back country roads, and lots of farms. I'll stick with internal combustion for now. Unless one stop from 65mph to 0 will recarge them enough to get me back home, I'll let the 8 little pistions do their job nicely.
Diesel fuel is just more power per volume... which is why it's more efficient. I agree, i'd love to see more diesel vechiles here in the US. I loved seeing the video of the 7000lb ford super duty truck beat the pants off of a Mazda rx-7. Of course, it had a cummins diesel in it, not an international.
But, anyhoo, diesel is becoming the hot-rodder's dream. Not only can you get oodles of torque and hp out of them, when you do, you often keep the same fuel economy, or increase it.
Imagine what a small 4-cylinder diesel with a large intercooler, turbo, and propane injection could do in a small vehicle, like a Jeep Liberty.
That's almost as bad as someone I know breaking the entire Verizon cel phone number portability for several weeks... dunno if it's working yet... probly is...
Here's a tip, don't try to forward a verizon number to a t-mobile number and then try to move the verizion number to the t-mobile phone. Things go ka-boing.
My 94 Bronco has 240K miles on it, everything in the engine and tranny and transfer case is original.. rear main seal is leaking (about 1 qt every 1K miles), and I've wrecked the rear 3 times. (though, it was through abuse, not bad design) Kinda lacking power though. The 02 WJ I have is nice 'n quick compared to the bronco, so far, no issues.
...I'm sure some resourceful/.'er could find at least one of his e-mail addys... maybe we could get that number from 150 up to 1500 a day or so. He's be REALLY happy then.
That's just a shitty dealer. They can hook up a scan tool to monitor and record data. Drive it around a while, let the tool capture data, then transfer it to your computer, look at the results. I'm sure they'd see something amiss when the engine RPM dropped.
Damn, I do this stuff at home with an Auto X-Ray, it's not that difficult.
But, your case doesn't seem unusual with GM dealers, a friend has had his 2002 S-10 pickup in for service a bunch of times for the same issue. (4x4 vacuum and heater/vent control issues).
I already run my own diagnostics, it's called the OBD-I or OBD-II diagnostics. A good scan tool, like the Auto X-Ray, will let you monitor every sensor in the vehicle, and do testing. I can't program changes with it, just figure out what's not right. Works fine, no issues, nothing blow'd up.
Yea, but there are loads of CPU upgrade cards for the Amiga. Our amiga 2000 had a 33mhz 68030 CPU card in it. That made the thing quite a bit faster. We also had a 386sx/25 bridgeboard, which we later upgraded with a 486slc/50mhz upgrade chip... ya know, the type that snapped onto the 386. That worked well, too. Two 500MB drives (one IDE, one SCSI) for data.
Can't carry a knife? I always leave a rather large knife in my truck/vehicle, and most of the time I have a folding pocket knife on my belt. I've used it several times outside of work, even as a makeshift screwdriver.
Well... I guess that's not as important as the 9mm hole punch I keep on the other side of my belt whenever possible.:)
I woulda submitted this, but it hasn't been covered here before. I got this thru Avantgo on my palm and read it in the shitter before/. posted it.

Hahah... I live in NY... But I'm planning on taking a cross-country trip one of these years, so I'll have to drop by there... I'll be sure to avoid NM, though.

Dodge's new Hemi is working on a variable displacement system in the Chrysler 300C and the new Grand Cherokee.
330+HP (more or less depending on whether the engine is tuned for more HP or more torque) with 27MPG sounds pretty good to me.
Old ass story. Please mod this down to the depths of atlantis.

200HP isn't that far to reach.
Go Whiterat! Finally got a story posted... After all these years of working, slaving, toiling, and torture.
Well, at least clicking, copying, pasting and typing.
Anyhoo...

Agreed. Starting to sound kinda feeeeeshy to me.
Been there, rejected, too.

(That was a quote from Bugs Bunny.)
Anyhoo, I bet the same can be applied to many of the left wing enviro-militants. Who knows, "Global Warming" may really mean "Natural Earth Cycle".
Heh, ya know?
Hypertech has their Power Programmer, which allows (at least GM vehicles) you to set engine parameters. A lot of it is done with reverse engineering.
And, Banks has pleanty of reprogrammers for diesel engines, too. 10 minutes to get 100+ HP from a diesel... drool.

Sounds fair.
...I thought it was the evil Republicans that caused the death of them. It must have been.
And use a strong cable... like an IEEE-1284, for example. Should be able to hold several hundred pounds at least.
