  1. There are still blackouts in the NFL? Haven't heard or seen of one in years. Oh, maybe you should read up on the current black out rules before blabbering like a fool - they are suspended.

Perhaps you are thinking of one of those lesser, boring sports where 2/3 of the stadium is empty daily.

Data such as this should be required to have a not small monetary value due upon gathering - if they want to convert it to 'services' for the 'customer' after that, fine - but only on an ongoing lease that can be revoked at any time. The politicians will love it because that monetary value can be seen as taxable income.

Too hard to implement and people won't like it? Fine then legally don't allow gathering of such data, or at least make them responsible when shit happens. Corporate death penalty really needs to be a thing, equifax should be a cautionary tale that is no longer in business.

  17. If anything, apathy is only affecting manufacturers in that they can be lazy and still sell product. Those that are infected by apathy are actually we, as consumers, who simply live with this shit, eat it, and are all too happy to buy more of it. We as consumers need to me more discerning and choose better.

It is amazing how many poorly designed products people are willing to live with. As an example I give you the clock radio, they used to be simple to use with enough buttons to easily do anything you wanted while still half asleep in the dark. Today the options all mostly suck, every single one has reduced the button count to about five, of which half you have to know what mode the thing is in, or sub function you happen to be in to operate the thing. The remaining buttons are usually tap to do this or press and hold to do that - so much fun when half asleep. The one I wound up with if you press the snooze button more than once you start adjusting the brightness - wtf. Feature-itis is killing what was once good designs, and we are simply living with it.
