seems to be a problem relative to 98, 'cuz i tried it here on a box connected via cable (DHCP, ethernet), and it kept telling me i wasn't connected to the internet..:-)
the database in itself isn't slow. That is, unless a vacuum full isn't done regularly, in which case it comes to a crawl. Vacuum Full is quite slow too, and does lock the whole database, which is quite infortunate when it powers a website which is supposed to be updated 24/24... So i can definitely see why a website operator would choose mySQL over PG (if he don't need transactions, for exemple.)
The BSDs already had their court battle, against ATT at the time.
ATT lost the case so thoroughly they settled out of court and asked (and managed) to have the terms of the agreement kept secret.
The BSDs have been deemed IP-violations free wrt to Unix (all releases up to sys V, i think), and since no big name like IBM & all is proeminently featured in the BSD's dev', they have it quite easy on the "trade secrets" front.
and let's not forget VACUUMDB. Want to claim back all this space lost when you deleted something? guess what, you'll have to lock your database. greeeaaat.
And it's so sloooooooow that now i have to dump/restore the DB every week.
And don't even mention database replication: you can do that on mySQL (with the logs), while the postgreSQL team is still struggling with this one.
You signed a non-compete agreement, have been fired/resigned. You can look for a job anywhere, if you land one, you must tell your former employer, who will then decide if he wants to enforce the non-compete part of your contract. If he does, he has to pay for your salaries for the period he prevents you to work.
null encryption can be useful in the folllowing case: you use public key auth and you like to use scp to automate some file transfers on your own network. encryption can be quite a burden, and it's nice to be able to specify a null cipher on the command line when you know the files you transfer aren't especially sensitives.
i'm looking for a CRT with a *real* DVI interface (not DVI-A, the analogic kind..) to bypass the DAC-on-vid'card problem (my reasonning being that if the screen has a built-in DAC, there's a very good chance that this DAC has been chosen carefully and has been tuned for the tube and hence can offer a better picture ).
Some were announced as of a few years ago, but i could only find one, with a DVI-A (so, still analog). Guess i'll have to wait some more time..
read what you quote. the HAL (the part which must fit into 4Mb ROM, and is equivalent to a PC BIOS) has some of its function based on the Linux Kernel. The offer to make the source available. If, because in the "BIOS" they used some GPL code (and follow the GPL, by releasing the source, as they state they alreeady do, and as they state they WILL, since it will be an integral part of the port of Linux to their new X-Scale based platform) they have to release their kernel source, something is seriously fuxxored up, and i think u don't have the right to distribute any x-86 linux distro, 'cause it goes on the reverse: the BIOS isn't Open Source, by a far cry, even if the kernel is...
Principled stand for world peace? Tell that to the people rioting in the Ivory Coast who battled French special forces.
Yeah, compare the body count from french army in Ivory Coast (zilch) to the one from US spec forces in Somalia (a thousand, if you believe Black Hawk Down). go tell to the somalians that the US stand for world peace, and see how they laugh.
well, it make senses that both FreeBSD and slackware installs make sense.. Slack is the most BSDish of the linuxes out there:-) I started using linux with a slack, then tried a couple other distros (redhat, debian, namely) and didn't like those very much... Then tried FreeBSD, and just love it:-) An OS for engineers, not for political statements. See FreeS/WAN and 1DES support to see what i mean.
Seems like on slashdot, even the one who fscking SUBMIT the story can't be bothered to read it. Amazing...
"This information leakage vulnerability is trivial to exploit and has potentially devastating consequences. Several different variants of this implementation flaw result in this vulnerability," the @stake researchers wrote in their paper on the flaw, released Monday. "The Linux, NetBSD and Microsoft Windows operating systems are known to have vulnerable link layer implementations, and it is extremely likely that other operating systems are also affected."
yah yeah, and u forgot to talk about challenger... Challenger did a "tactical retreat", after killing a whole village of farmers (including some 1 to 7 years old NVA fighters), hanging some black men while wearing pointy white hats, and just plain eradicating native americans from the face of earth (those non christian scums, they didn't live our western lifestyle, and didn't pray the One True God (yeah, the one mentionned on all those $$$, you know..), they obviously deserved to die.. oh wait, i think i heard this not so long ago..).. The only good thing to come from this bloody mess is that cvhallenger came down with an All American School Teacher, that's one less for you, all for the better.

it has been cancelled.
The concorde-to-be-donated will in fact fly the Statue Of Liberty back to France, by request of moronic USKAians.

wjat, you mean that they couldn't have won WW2 on their own, as they love to pretend? come on, that can't be true..
it's definitely between 60 and 70% of total used bandwidth.
just a side note:
Poland was handed to russia by (mainly) the US of A.
Yalta?
This new technology will not arrive in Europe before 2006 at least.
And the US are so backwater that they're not even mentionned, just like Africa.

12th century is 'new'? :-P
that's how it works in France.

remember, FreeBSD is dying.

if you don't like iTunes or safari, you can drag it to the trashcan and install xmms and mozilla, and OS X will never complain about that.
Try doing the same with WMP or IE on windows.

if you're at wat, then there was no terrorism on 9/11, "merely" military "surgical" strikes on the US power infrastructure (economical and military).
guess what, french and german govs answer to the french and the germans, respectively. so why should they bow and take it in the rear from the US?
read what you quote.

Happy War to you
yeah, it's british, like, say, The Washington Post?
Funny how some googling could prevent you from sounding like a nationalist prick.

I guess the factory was infringing on some pfizer or whoever copyrights/patents. :-)
that's WIPO for you, man
