Try like hell to get on somewhere to get "real world" experience. It makes all the difference when looking for a job.
It also helps to move to an area where jobs are plentiful. For example when I graduated I too couldn't find a job worth anything in Oklahoma. So I moved to Dallas. After working there and getting experience the jobs I wasn't qualified for in my home town area were now begging for experienced developers.
I also did lots of free work (software development related) in my spare time. You can always find non-profit organizations that need help and will give you a real project without the time constraints usually associated with a real job. This is experience and you'd be doing something good for your community (I still volunteer). Just make sure not to flake out b/c non-profit's get a lot of people who want to help but don't want to put forth the effort needed.

And frequently the patches cause more problems that they fix. This is why my company has switched to OSS/Linux (eat that GNU).
If you are a MS server admin you are always double checking TechNet and the other available sources because the delay between the patch on TechNet and the WindowsUpdate (critical area) can be as long as 3 weeks sometimes. Now that's sorry as can be. Lockdown tool is a joke.
I'm so lazy I just buy my software. I hate trying to find all the sit/rar files. Then after downloading the same app 3 or 4 times and it still doesn't work, you could generally buy it with your wasted time.
I learned on warez (in college) and bought for my business. This is why I switched to OS X and Linux (server side). My licenses were going to run in the 10's of thousands for MS products (that constantly need babying) and the Linux alternatives are free (with the exception of Oracle DB). I have 3 Macs and I'm getting a powerbook (thank god the high end went from 3700 to 2900) to use as my primary machine. I also have several x86/linux based servers and a UltraSPARC based box (running Oracle 8i no time for 9i yet). I'm going to convert my G4 tower to OS X Server when my Ti book arrives! Linux should pay attention to the UI tools available to Mac OS X Server. They are pretty robust (insert crude joke here)!
I guess you shot out of the womb with coding skills (doubtful). Everyone has to learn in their own way. In the end if someone wants to learn to program well, they will. Otherwise they'll just coast along until it's required.
I was a shitty programmer out of college and after moving between various jobs I learned along the way.
Business works by getting the most for the least amount of cash. Unfortunately most businesses don't have competent managers that can tell the difference between anything applicable in the real world and a buzz word they just read on CNet (most technical conversations are over their heads). That is my experience anyway.
While "Where y'at?" is common in New Orleans it is poor grammar. However with your enlightening addition to the slashdot.org comment section I'm extremely impressed and humbled by your obvious intellectual superiority over the previous poster.
How nice would that be? I've yet to see patents do a damn thing but stifle innovation. How the fuck can someone interpret a law written in the 1800's to apply to 21st Century society.
All laws should expire, if they are worthy they will be renewed (could you imagine the crisis if murder was legal for a day?).
Can you take me higher? Sales are driven by Jesus man. Oh yeah and a healthy dose of Angst. Scott Cornell (sp?) sounds weird as Rage's singer. Kind'a reminds me of 1993 with soundgarden. I've really got to dig up some of my old CD's.
I was a RIAA junkie in college but I've reformed. I listen to sports radio (the animal AM 640/105.7 FM & the fan 1400 AM). I still have around 600 CD's (unless my wife has sold them to the used cd store which is very likely).
The only new music I get is from the CD's my wife purchases. I have 3 jobs (2 full time and 1 contract labor) and as a simple fact of time I listen to SportsRadio (notice my username) when I'm in the car. I drove a 1964 1/2 mustang from high school through college without a radio so silence isn't bothersome to me, it's relaxing (ignoring the glasspack mufflers of course).
My wife bought me the Cult CD that came out last year and my brothers in law buy me KMFDM / MDFMK cd's for Xmas (Dec) and my birthday (June). I could care less if I ever buy a CD again. I am however fully against theft from the artists (even as it's more from the RIAA, some minute percentage still goes to the artist).
My solution is simple and yet expensive. I could probably bank roll it but I have no expertise in the music industry.
My solution: Setup a barebones studio, have the bands save and hire their own technicians (with local admins monitoring to help and watch the equipment). Produce their "album" (man i'm old) and setup a website that has the mp3/ogg files for free and cd's available for purchase at around $5.
The problem is it's an unproven model and wasting money isn't my goal. However, if my own company takes off I may do this anyway (allowing the artists to retain rights to their own music! how novel).
Although I'm a liberal/socialist at heart so this republican country wouldn't want anything like that, now would they?
However it became burdensome so they dropped it. In 1997-8 there was no better place to buy (no pun intended). Their service was spotty but overall if you had a problem and were consistant in your communications it would be resolved.
The way they formerly did it was you faxed them a copy of the receipt (at the time from any retailer) and they would beat it by 10% or pay the difference!!! Pretty cool (although not a good business decision in the age of PriceWatch and Shopper.com).
Lol, I'm a robert too, so I too am capable of being a complete asshole for no reason.
However, that being said, simply implying all these things by my wife choosing to buy used CD's is a stretch. So in the end piss off.
Oh and why anyone would marry someone they don't find attractive is beyond me. My wife is getting her PhD, and is extremely intelligent. She is hot too. I was very picky in selecting my life long mate and would hope you would be too. Maybe you're just pissed your significant other (assuming you can find one) is fugly. My wife doesn't smoke, isn't religious, loves animals and kids, is extremely intelligent, and for some strange reason chose to date me. So all in all I'm the winner in this situation.
I use WinSCP in windows and Putty and they work great. The command line ssh/sftp works fine in os x but like I said i'm looking for all GUI, preferably integrated with my coding environment.
However these look like good alternatives so I'll try them out. The frustrating thing is after buying MX Studio and the design collection (came with golive 6) it's sad they don't include this one small piece of functionality when they have so much shitty bloat in their applications.

The point I was trying to make is that it is no more difficult to copy it the first time you open it than it would be the 300th time when it is a "non-expiring" dvd.
