It's important to point out the absurdity of the wording--the fact that it's too broad and could even be used to target Mead and other paper companies for making tracing paper.
It's heavy handed legislation whose wording leave too much open for interpretation. That alone is enough to have any sane legislator view it as unsound public policy---regardless of the bill's true vs perceived/implied motivations.
Keep it short, but point out how ridiculous it is.
Why bother? I mean....if I have to leave my chair, then it's not my bag. Currently, iTMS caters to that lazy side very well. I just can't see myself going to Best Buy to use a Kiosk to burn a CD when I could have done that very thing without leaving my chair.
You sound like my uncle. "Back when I was your age, we didn't have all this fancy fuel injection and ABS and we got by just fine. Who needs a computer to run a car?"
Then his dad would pipe up and say "Car? In my day, we hooked up the horse to the buggy and we got by just fine!"
Some states (AZ) allow "open carry" without a permit. Works like a charm. Walking down the street, packin' some heat--only a fool would try to take my laptop from me. And being a true geek, I carry the latest in over-engineered polymer frames complete with an integral laser sight (can't even tell it's there).
Agreed. I went there out of curiosity--to see the Dinosaur. When I saw "Dino" I almost blew a half a can of Mt. Dew at my laptop....LOL! That's classic!
Java was ALREADY forked by none other than our good friends in Redmond.
"Some vendors, notably Microsoft, have insisted on adding platform-specific features (for example, in Microsoft's case, for Windows) and Sun has reacted strongly....Sun sued and won both damages (some $20 million dollars) and a court order enforcing the terms of the license from Sun." source
And I really think this is the type of thing that would pollute the language and destroy the whole concept of the platform, and as Marc Fleury points out, Sun's oversight is really what's holding the developer community and the platform together.
When I was lining the inside of my SUV with tin foil, my wife said "isn't the hat enough?"
I knew it was coming to this. Now I'm ready!
Once I leave the store, nobody will ever know what I bought (except Visa, my bank, and their business partners, and Walmart and their business partners, and whoever is behind me at the checkout, and the girl who checks me out, and the kid who bags it, and the old guy who checks my receipt, and the guys operating the 10,000 security cameras at the store).
Sun went out of it's way to make sure it's customers know that it will indemnify it's customers against any legal issues that result from their having used Sun's products.
I already wrote a letter to mine. Do it now.

The funny thing is, I wanted to read your post, but I could only make it to the "...so I'm not really..." part before my attention span lapsed.
So, I'm assuming whatever you had to say had some merit. But keep it to one line next time.

My brain is prior art.
It gets it's energy from my body, and uses it as a data bus to send messages to my various other parts.
I hear luddism is making a comeback.

How myopic.
You mean the owner ate all the customers!

Let me tell you from personal experience.

You're right.....I have no idea what scale means, and I don't work on distributed systems for a living.
I just play games on my Dell Windows box and read slashdot all day long.
