yeah most 'blogs might be masturbation, but does that make the concept (publishing your thoughts, questions, hopes...) invalid? I guess I diagree with you about the "underlying purpose of a weblog".

    analogy:
plenty of people don't speak the english language very well, so I suppose the language is flawed and should be disregarded intirely.

the only time I've seen ctrl H's on a terminal was when my TERM was broken and when I backspaced all I would see was ^H. it would never print what I wrote anthen^H^H^H^Hd then backspace and overwrite it, and so it ended up looking like the examples above.

use chords on a two button mouse

    point taken...

there will always be a function that will not be immediately available. however I enjoy having the option to decide which function is most important and therefore resides in a key binding or a specific mouse button.

as far as the specifics go, I don't need to put anything behind another window since a middle click just opens a new tab without giving it the focus.

  9. Re:Who cares, really? on Apple Requires Three-Button Mouse for Shake 2.5 · · Score: 0

so, in a properly designed Mac web browser how do you open a link in a new window/tab? do you hold the mouse button down for a second until you get a contextual menu? highlight the text and go over to the omnipresent context menu? drag it over to the app launcher?

    come on... just middle-click it...

seems like there are definitely reasons to have extra mouse buttons and in my opinion apple seems to be ignoring these.

Yeah we should just pave anything that is green and grows.

Anyway, Albany is alright, 4am liquor laws are nice, and if they don't totally trash the area with cheap new buildings it might be a really good experience for most people. Also, this might keep some of the creative types around, instead of heading of for NYC due to lack of interest, energy and others that share their interests.

have you heard anyone use final scratch?

Final scratch is a step towards what they like, but the sample rate and resolution of mp3's and even CD's are not rich enough to completely match the performance of analog records passed through effects and slowed down

all i can tell you is that what i heard come out of the jak system in detroit this year was phenomenal.

I agree with you. people really should cut others some slack during discussion, if they did you might actually be able to *communicate* with them. the only thing i'd like to point out is that many people would probably take offense to your comparison between Hitler/Communism and visual/special effects. dismissing a psychotic genocidal tyrant as trival seems like a serious lapse in judgement. other than that your point is very valid and has been expressed here more than once.
