I have to admit that I kind of agree with this guy. I get the explanation and the switching but to me there are two separate problems. First you pick one door from three, a 1/3 chance of being right. Then you get to see a goat door. This eliminates that door. When you are asked if you want to switch you are in effect being asked to choose between two doors. The revealed goat is no longer a valid choice. The problem is no longer the original problem, it is now a new problem, the odds need to be calculated fresh for the new problem. It is now a 1/2 choice.

I see driving as requiring three different skill sets. Car handling skills, simply how well can you handle a car. Spatial awareness, reaction time, etc. Information processing skill, knowing how to read traffic. The last skill is attitude and it may be the most important of the three. I don't care how great your skills are in the first two skills if you have a crappy attitude you will never be more than a crappy driver. A good attitude will make up for shortcomings in the first skills.

You seem to have a good attitude towards driving. I wish everyone did.

The problem with a PS3 as an HD player is that it lacks discreet analogue audio outputs for 7.1 sound. This means that to get the 7.1 sound you have to have a receiver that does HDMI 1.3 and have the proper codecs to decode the audio.

My current amp has discreet analogue inputs and the BD players have the outputs. Four pair of audio cables later and I get the new HD 7.1 surround. With a PS3 I need to also drop about a grand on an amp. I consider the audio more important than the video so I wouldn't even consider the PS3 for movie playback. At this time. If I had a suitable amp I might.

Downloading copyrighted stuff is not wrong. In fact the internet relies on our ability to download copyrighted stuff.

The page you are viewing has a copyright. It was downloaded so your browser can display it. Some vendor's pamphlets could carry copyright yet the vendor wants as many downloaded as possible. The problem exists with copyrighted material that was never authorized for free distribution.

Downloading isn't even the real issue. The copyright violation on some piece of music occurred when it was copied and shared freely. Notice that the RIAA keeps going after the sharers, not the downloaders.

I do think that the incessant downloader who never ever buys any of the material is a bit of a scumbag. I like to purchase movies, music, games and whatever because it encourages them to make more.

If my ISP called and tried to warn me about downloading copyrighted material, I hope the poor schlep on the phone is prepared. I do download, I do use P2P and I do download copyrighted material. All with full permission from the copyright holder. If you think I'm breaking a law, call the cops.

The Mona Lisa is a great piece of art except for that ugly chick. Let's replace her face with Paris Hilton. Better now?

Let's take all the sex and violence out of the Bible. That would leave us with a nice, if not substantial, notebook with a nice cover.

It's very important for people to encounter concepts that they find "morally objectionable" otherwise how do they understand their own morality? How can you grow as a human being if you live life in some sterile bubble of flowers, puppies and happy things? Someone has to challenge your morality to grow you has a human. How do you teach morality and ethics to children if they never encounter anything questionable? The world will turn out to be a big scary place if you never have your ideas challenged and then you suddenly find yourself faced with all the questionable morality and ethics we all deal with every day.

Oh right, I remember now. You give the little ones a bible. Tell them that's all they ever need to know and then stick your head back up your own arse.

Of course that is true on the surface. Gets more complicated in reality. The problem with calories from carbs is they leave you hungry. Most people eat when hungry. Diets with lots of carbs make reducing calories almost impossible. Fat and protein calories stay with you longer and without feeling hungry you eat less.

Tough to cut calories when you are hungry all the time. Easy to cut calories when you aren't hungry all the time.

I eat two slices of fried bacon and two fried eggs for breakfast everyday. That's about 260 calories. I'm not hungry again for about six hours. If I add two slices of toast it almost doubles the calories and I'm hungry again in an hour. That's the secret of low carb eating. Never feeling hungry.

Why does gaming always mean video games? I have a family legacy of being hardcore gamers. We were hardcore gamers before pong was popular. Road hockey, baseball, golf, cards, board games anything as long as there was somebody to beat. Let's face it a hard core gamer needs an opponent. Playing a solo video game alone for hours is to hardcore gaming what masturbation is to sex. You get the reward but really have nothing to brag about.

Consequently I played games with my kids and still do (they are now 18 and 21). All kinds of games, video games included. My son owned me at Quake and Star Craft. I owned him at road hockey, just like my old man would own me and my friends.

Funny thing is that my parents seemed unique for parents among my peers. I can't recall any of my friends parents grabbing their ball glove to came out and play with us. My guess is this non-gaming with kids extends well beyond just video games.

My old man is still a hardcore gamer. He may be close to seventy but can still shoot in the low eighties which makes him tough to beat on the golf course.
