I don't know about you, but I have found an even better option over at our Seattle friend's Amazon store. And it transfers songs directly to iTunes. Rather sweet, I would say. SO, there IS an option, AND it is done well, AND it is fully compatible with iTunes and thus the iPod.

So, what is the actual problem? Are we actually seeing another SCO type 3rd party stab in preparation for a big MS push into the field? Not a bloody clue. BUT, it still stands to reason that the ability for Amazon to 1-up the iTunes store seems to break their argument a tad, don't you think? It is not a closed device, really. MP3, AAC, WAV (who really uses that?!), OGG (just joking!). If you use any of those formats, it is on! And they have a right to pander to their own store with their formats if expanding the range of compatibilities means shelling out cash to one of their competitors, don't you think?

Now, I am not exactly an Apple fanboi on this, but come ON! This is just a load of crap. They have absolutely NO corner on the market. The people who were competing with apple on this were using different methods that were all based on a competing format using a subscription service method for the most part. Amazon is beginning to show major promise for taking them on and that only came about when the record companies decided they could get multiple revenue streams from different stores only if they opened it up to ALL players through other stores. That and people want unDRMed songs. /rant

In Jewish culture, the torah is usually hidden behind a gate of some kind. These gates are decorated. What they are decorated as is very important: plants. Trees, shrubs, anything that grows.

Christian beliefs are stagnant and dead. There is no room for growth, for change to seek the truth (as they are fond of saying) but now is very protectionist. The hellenization of christianity has lead to some major shifts from the Judaism one of which is the belief that what has been done can not be undone in the present. If you ask Rabbis, you will find that most of them (I don't know about orthodox) don't care about the ID debate.

point being: Modern Christianity is far from what it was and is a bog of incorporated religions and foolish backpedalling throughout the ages.

Well, they are not using the Apple name for music. It is explicitly, iTunes Music Store. Not Apple iTunes Music Store, not Apple Music Store. There is no confusion here.

It was foolish to settle back in the '80s, but they did. Now they have to hash this out with a defunct record company who very few people give a shite about.

Have they even released anything NEW in the past 20 years or are they just floating on the Beetles and their legacy (yes, Yoko is just a Legacy. she Sucks, IMO).

as for Apple Corps owning Apple Comp, I think it could end up being the other way, if The Steve gets pissed enough at them. Maybe that is what they want, to be bought out.

    Erm... "renting"?

if you are doing a subscription service, that is renting. If it is a download service, that is just buying restricted files. The things that I have always done with my p2p mp3s I still do with my AACs. I give them to anyone who wants them, burn CDs of them, I authorized my old roommate's computer and he still is able to use the songs he wants to that we swapped. No big deal. You know what else is odd, he also has his on mine and we have no problems.

really, I do understand the problem with other digital players, it does kind of stink, but I see why they are doing it. But just because you have this absolute fear of anything being "restricted" or "controlled" does not mean that it is not a good thing. This has allowed more artists to get funding, to be found by more of the public and is paving the way for new sales structures.

yes, this is not ideal, but it is as good as we are going to get right now. We should still be making it clear what we will NOT tolerate (only 2 installs?! What crap.)
