don't many of these viruses use the same vulnerabilities? if that's the case, doesn't that mean a statistic like this should be pointed to not as an indicator of rising numbers of viruses, but as an indicator of the lack of response from the applications being exploited?
i'm not certain that these viruses use the same vulnerabilities, so my second question is pretty heavily weighted on the first:)
why do people keep reiterating the fact that this document was exported from Quark Express? is there a fundamental misunderstanding of what Word/Office is capable of or marketed as? This document is well laid out and visually designed in a way that not only is Word unable to do, but isn't expected to accomplish.
MS knows the capabilities of their software and they haven't tried to position the Office suite in competition with Quark, InDesign, or other professional layout applications. you're comparing apples and oranges in this criticism and it comes off rather silly.
I have no way of knowing in what situation you're having the alignment problem, but in case you weren't already, set width:100%;height:100% on html, body to ensure that when you're positioning elements below the body in the document tree relatively they have something to relate to. I've noticed this to be the most common problem when people are having trouble with alignment.
if this doesn't apply to you, ignore me. just trying to be helpful:)
the drive could easily just assume you're brand conscious (you just bought a cd burner with a feature that can only be used with certain cds, after all). the process which "writes" to the top of the CD doesn't etch anything or put ink anywhere it wasn't already. it's the same method used to burn the cd itself - that is, the laser heats up inks which change colour. if you're using a cd that doesn't have this ability and you flip it when the drive asks and try to write a label, no big deal. you just won't have a label.

no, the word of her actions came from her own mouth. if it was just rumour, then it was her rumour, that she started, which she perpetuated and she accepted. really messed up girl overall.

urban legend nothing, i'm from new jersey and knew a girl in highschool who had to change schools after everyone found out how she was enticing her dog into licking certain parts of her body.
not a friend of a friend of a cousin thing, this girl was on my bus.
wouldn't it be far more consumer friendly if they just checked their IP blocks for open relays rather than stifling their customer's use of the internet at large?
checking for open relays isn't hard, and is easily automated.
well i think the divide is that we're looking at these programs as sci-fi or not sci-fi. sci-fi is just a vehicle for the drama. i didn't like babylon 5 because i don't like soap operas. i liked farscape because you could pick it up whenever and just enjoy the action. i didn't have to commit to watching it.
i'm kinda hoping for 64bit support, myself.
could they simply fire back by pointing out iTunes?

you should probably tell him to stop putting a . after the H if he doesn't want people to think it stands for something

though for the price of a new drive you could set up for one-colour silk screening and have enough ink to last you to 2007 :)

it's just not aggressively "bad" censorship. just because you've assigned an evil tint to a word doesn't mean you can change its meaning.
they also have a slightly significant problem with Apple even being in the music business.
Some of their sales can be attributed to this, however I doubt that it is statistically significant. The majority of consumers are not doing this.
psh not anymore!
