  1. DANGER!!! That is NOT nitrogen vapor, it's water! on P4 2.80GHz Overclocked to 3.917GHz · · Score: 3, Informative

I know where you can get Liquid Nitrogen, it's incredibly easy to do. But a word of note to those who may want to keep their electronic systems working longer then the test time.

Unless you live in the sahara desert or another place that has incredibly low humidity. This is incredibly dangerous to the motherboard. Those whisps that you see coming from the Liquid Nitrogen is not Nitrogen vapor. It is water!! Nitrogen vapor is not visible. The fact of the matter is, that the air around us has a lot of water in it, and when you start to cool it suddenly to -160 and below, you create a lot of water vapor. Now doing this with a computer will likely leave a nice little pool of water on the motherboard when you are finished. So unless you are willing to take that risk. I do not recommend doing this.

There is even a pic there where it should the frozen water buildup on the outside of the containing device they built. Can you imagine what the motherboard would've looked like after a while of this?

Having working with Liquid Nitrogen, and knowing how dangerous it can be even without electronics. I don't recommend this as a friendly try with buddies experiment.

I am hoping that's not really how he is, but man, its so hard to shake that image of him being a total jerk. I was just kidding about it before that point when we talked about Wesley.

And, the other thing that has disappointed me about the Star Trek world is how everything got so good with section 31, and some of the really excellent concepts brought up in the last couple of seasons of DS9 and VOY. Yet, it's all gone. Hopefully this movie will bring back some of it.

I am not totally aware of what E&CE does, and I am not saying that you do not do theory. I am just saying that a CS major is exposed to more theory then an engineer would be. As the CS student is studying the science of computers and the engineer is studying how to engineer a computer.

They are inherently two different subjects.

Don't take me the wrong way though, I am not saying engineers have it easy. I have seen some of the courses that are taken at Waterloo for engineering and they definitely seem to be challenging. I am just saying that they will learn it from a different perspective then a CS student does.

Even though I am majoring in Pure Math, I am not (as you politely termed it) "speaking out of my ass." I have experience with a large number of CS courses, and I know very well what the curriculum is like. I think it would be great to have the high-density of New York, with some nice high-tech structures and better looking buildings. Wouldn't you prefer living with people in a neighbourhood full of modern, beautiful, gemstonelike, high tech style buildings, then living in a neighbourhood of generic 1930s "beer bottles". As well, there is one more benefit. Updating the technology and the buildings will make it so more people can live _comfortably_ in such a close area.

This is not to say all of New York has this problem. There are definitely some very nice neighbourhoods with some amazing buildings, nice neighbourhoods and interesting people.

On the other hand, the Engineering dept. (which is the one that is being forced to take these courses) is more dependent on working knowledge. Which means knowing the languages intricately over just knowing the concepts behind programming languages.

E&CE IMHO is more an applied CS course then anything else. Thus, MS purchased the right dept. when they pulled this fast one. And at Waterloo, the engineering students would never do anything uncorporate so they'll probably just bend over and...

It really does not matter if you are winning at one table or another. If they begin to think that you will take their money instead of give it to them, you will be removed. Simple as that. If I found a ring that looks beautiful that my wife would accept as an engagement ring and it didn't have any diamonds on it, I wouldn't mind.

The diamond is just an accessory to the final artistic piece that is the ring. Unfortunately, most people don't realize this, and just decide that the bigger the 'rock' is the better. When it's more a question of how much effort was placed in the creation of the piece of art that is jewelery.

The British Crown Jewels are all works of art, not because they have large 'rocks' in them. But rather because those rocks have been so well placed in a way that shows beauty and light.
