This open-source story is being brought to you by Disney maker of Tron 2.

Yes we may be a heartless, monopolistic company, but we're not that other heartless monopolistic company who doesn't like open source. We at Disney love open source. Ummm. Look at Pixar! They use Linux! Granted we really don't own Pixar. But we regardless, we love Linux, and open-source, and you.

Just remember, when you think of Tron, think of open-source, and think of buying Tron 2. Better yet, don't think of buying it, just buy it! Hmmm, it is Windows only right now. That's not going to make you very happy.

Maybe WineX will work. Give it a shot, just buy it.

Tron, and open source platform, and a really nifty new game!

Now that I have a TiVo I could never give it up. But the fact this offers network connectivity, 5.1 digital out, and composite video is quite impressive. The price may seem a little steep, but a new TiVo with a lifetime subscription is about 650-700, but this box is subscription free.

The real question is the interface going to be able to compete with TiVo? The ability to do season-passes are (IMO) what will make it or break it.

The [Mozilla] Project needs to get its act together, though. No more rehearsing for the Navel Gazing Split Personality Idiot Savant role. No more antique cars stuffed with vague X-technologies nobody understands anyway. And no, not even one web standard. The Project should put Mozilla on a strict diet and star it as the Viable Alternative to the Senile Evil Dinosaur Usurper in the epic multimedial co-production "Browser Wars II: The Saga Continues".

If the Project does so, it has a future. If it doesn't, it will sink further into obscurity and silly names.

Apparently this guys has been out of the loop. I agree the silly name changes, and change in directions hurt, (hell it confused me too), but now they are on a strict roadmap. The Firebird browser is on a strict diet, it's slicker, leaner and meaner than anything Microsoft has to offer. Even some of the biggest Windows advocates have jumped on the bandwagon.

Hopefully enough eyes will be opened, and will see that the future is Firebird.

"It is unproductive to think of games as âinteractive movies,â(TM) although many people tend to think of games in those terms. Let's be clear: games and films are different media. The techniques, processes, and skills involved in the creation of each are unique and not interchangeable. The metrics by which each is judged are also different, meaning that many of the properties that make for a good film would lead to a lousy game, and vice versa."

How true this is, let's see a list:

    Popular/Good Games - Awful Movies
    • Super Mario Bros.
    • Street Fighter
    • Wing Commander
    • Tomb Rader
    • Mortal Kombat

    Good/Popular Movies - Awful Games
    • Enter the Matrix
    • ET
    • Many (but not all) Star Wars games
    • Many (but not all) Star Trek games
    • The Die Hard Series

And yet, these trends will probably never stop. We keep hearing rumblings about a Duke Nukem Movie, a Doom movie, and we're already getting another Tomb Raider flick. But as long as people keep buying these games, and going to see the movies we'll keep being exposed to this dreck.

Why can't we see more games like GTA that skirt the fine line between movie and game?
