I mean, there was always a part of me that hoped it was true that when he originally made SW, GL really didn't have the technology to make the movie he really wanted. Of course, after hearing about how really awful the first cut was, a little doubt crept into my mind, but still, there was a sliver of hope that the re-releases wer born more out of a desire for change, than a desire for change.
But now, there's no doubt that GL is truly just a greedy bastard. I can see how discussions of how cool it would be to see the opening screen crawl in 3D, followed by the corvette being overtaken by the imperial ship, but beyond that, christ.
This is going to be as bad as Jaws3 (in 3D), and there's really just no excuse for it.
Is neverland ran...i mean skywalker ranch losing that much money? Did he heavily invest in pumpkin futures and then hold them for too long? What the hell is he thinking?

Face it, the EV1 failed because, well it was the EV1. GM counted on a breakthrough in battery technology that never came. Instead, we've got a bunch of manufacturers producing hybrid vehicles that are actually competing with regular gas cars. Hell, Ford even makes a hybrid SUV, for christ's sake. I mean, a hybrid SU-freakin'-V. C'mon - has there ever been a bigger oxymoron?
If the EV1 had to fail in order to prove that electric-only powered vehicles weren't/still aren't ready for prime time, then so be it. It's a fallen soldier on the road to liberation. I'd rather have a better solution instead of suffering with a mediocre one. Maybe (if better battery or fuel cell technology goes gold) we'll all drive EV 2's or EV47's one day.
are annoying to me. I can see them flicker in my peripheral vision and it's damned annoying. I figured that they musts oscillate around 60Hz or so, but does anyone have any more information about them?
Wait - is this all of a sudden? I mean there have been two Slashdot stories in the last few days, and now this?
I'm going to RTFA now, but what the hell is going on? Didn't Firefox just pass 1 million downloads not too long ago? It seemed like there was a bit of a buzz - is this the beginning of the end?
Is this why Open Source can't compete with companies like Microsoft "commercially"?

Does anyone else find something wrong with the progress/height chart on the new splash screen?
That's what i'd like to see. Your default google.com page would display your weather, and a check box for a local.google search. I mean you can save your location preference in local.google already. And how hard would a link to gmail be? And news? Why not display the top headline for categories that you choose? Why not put everything you want together? Put some settings in our preferences, and call it what it's becoming - a Portal.
Then again, i don't consider google a "portal". Wired just had an article about google vs. Yahoo!. It's quite an interesting read.
I read the Google cache, and Google should hire him. If he doesn't already work there. This type of thinking is what Google is all about. I think. I'm not smart enough to be sure.
If you consider the market these are aimed at, the length of time it would take a Windows box to become unuseable due to spyware/crapware, and the cost savings of not having someone "fix" it every 6 months to keep it from "slowing down" it is a better deal.
I suppose these are the same upcoming revisions they proposed last January, which people are still waiting for.
No thanks. I'm glad i got out when i did. They need to either fire the management staff or triple their developer staff. There's no excuse for how poorly managed this MMORPG is.
I was in a local apple store recently, buying an iPod. There was a woman buying a G5 and she was asking what the difference between two 512MB sticks of RAM and one 1GB stick was. The sales guy said, "Well, the 1 Gig of RAM costs $700.."
I nearly choked.
I've found that you can do more to effectively improve the sound quality of your stereo system by providing it with a true ground.
I'm not entirely sure why, and i'm sure someone can explain here, but it's a difference that you can actually hear.

That's it. I've had enough.
I'm out.
SuSE here i come.
Eye candy GUI stuff like this is cool, sure. But you're hungry for more after about 30 minutes.
Where are the fundamental changes in the ways that we interact with our applications and systems?
Sure, keep up with quartz and aqua for now, but i want to see some changes in fundamental Graphical User Interfacing system.
The last paragraph is priceless:
It took my mother about 330 hours of work sewing the Beastie
I hope he gets her something for Mother's Day.
The article said "About 80 percent of Microsoft employees who have a portable music player have an iPod"...

Leave it to Slashdot to post fake news. From BBSpot, no less http://www.bbspot.com/News/2005/01/counterstrike_m ovie.html
If they try to hollywood it up - make it a Pearl Harbor with that Affleck hack, it'll suck.
Then again, if it turns into another vehicle for Christian Slater it could suck as hard as Alone in the Dark.
They need to make it indy-style with some no-name actors and few special effects.
But they won't.
And it will suck.

Does anyone else find it disturbing that NASA named a mission aimed to penetrate a comet after a [bad] movie about a comet penetrating the Earth?
I guess it's better than Armageddon - they probably couldn't get funding for that one.
