I think Microsoft has some competition, finally! Check out this from the release notes:

    * The path button is now more obviously a button.

Wow, a button this is ... MORE OBVIOUSLY, a button! Alright!

    * GNOME 2.10 introduces a new applet for controlling your Modem, integrated with GNOME System Tools.

Words fail me. I'm going to go out and get a modem, just so I can try this!

    Finally,

    * daily weather forecasts / Get even more weather

This one, I am not so sure of. Geeks don't leave the house! Why couldn't they make an applet that checks how much of their parents money they've spent living in their basements? How about how much more money they need before Scott Bakula will agree to do the next season of Enterprise? THAT would have been helpful.

I don't know about "real good" but it was a descent update to an already great song. A lot of bands cover new order, although this Orgy version of blue monday was probably the best so far. Ever hear the Stabbing Westward version of Bizarre Love Triangle? Horrible. But a german band called Commercial Breakup did it, and it was pretty good, very techno. But, I realized the other day, New Order is less about techno, even though they arguably were at the forefront of such music, and simply more about the music. Its great wonderful stuff, and I highly recommend everyone go download it from iTunes music store, or whatever piece of crap you Windows guys use.

Please, you can come up with whatever reason you want for things, its your site, but don't be so blatant about it. You never passed on a story because something else was too important, unless it was 9/11 and someone submitted a review of what they'll think the next Duke Nukem will be about. You spell words wrong, you never check your sources, you never even check your own site (sometimes on the same goddamn page) to see if a story has already been posted. You're a goddamn idiot, and you should stop trying to act smart.

I can't believe the hypocrisy on slashdot, even after all the ass reaming cmdrtaco takes about it. Is he trying to do this, maybe slowly switching things over to 'Hey, XP is cool!' so that all the morons who switched over to linux because of this site, will slowly switch back to XP because of shit like NWN? C'mon, its a fucking game, and I think it even runs under Linux (or will) and is being ported to the Mac. I'm sure CmdrTaco and the rest of the /. bunch ran out to get Xboxes, even as they come back and bitch about how much "M$" sucks.

I don't run MS Software. I run Omniweb for a browser on Mac OS X. I don't use Office, I use Appleworks, and if not, I could always run KOffice or even star office.

Mods will probably mark this as off-topic, but c'mon, is cmdrtaco's offhand "Look I run XP" comment on topic? Of course, he's not as easy to moderate, I suppose.

My parents also always push to get a degree ... Sometimes i wonder if it would help, as right now I'm out of a job, and starting to get desperate .. ;). But I have one thing a person who spent 4 years in college won't have over me, and thats 5 years experience as a System Administrator. Who would you rather have in charge of your systems, someone who has been doing this for a while now, or someone who's only read about it?

Anyway, congrats on wanting to be an SA, its a good career choice I think, as you get exposed to a lot, and it can lead to other things, programming, DBA, network guy etc etc ....

Over all though, college looks like its a lot of fun, if a lot of work. If your parents will pay for it, I say go for it! Maybe you'll get to go to a few good parties ...
