Frankly I have no issues at all with 100% surveillance at all times, even
within my own home. Yes, all people commit crimes these days as we have so many laws that not breaking a law here and there is impossible. But we can eliminate the armed robberies, drive by shootings, rapes and kidnappings easily. Frankly the system will be so full of criminals that getting arrested for cutting the tag off of your mattress will never occur. Go to Miami Beach and have a nice swim and wonder if your car will be broken into. The bad guys know your waller is in that car. This kind of terrorism could be stopped completely. People often avoid using bicycles as they get sick of locking and unlocking the bikes. Imagine bike, motorcycle and car thefts reduced to zero. And yes, hidden cams can catch you cheating but imagine they also can catch your wife cheating. Cams can be a blessing. I'm all for them.
I had a close friend who announced that he would hang himself in one year if his music didn't sell. In fact he did it. He refused to get help and did not believe that any real help was available. Laws regarding mental health make it next to impossible to put people in a controlled environment until real therapy is applied. The right to not be in a mental hospital has now trumped the right to life. There really are people who have a real need to kill themselves but most suicides are not such cases. Certain cancers combined with things like an expensive divorce and poverty are a good reason to commit suicide as the future is bleak and painful.
Surely many local fish will love them as a dinner and perhaps they taste good to humans as well. My area is bombarded with exotic fish or invasive species. They are fun to catch and make a great meal as well . So why always be against invasive species?
Sadly this study points to a flaw in the system that we have no way to repair. When sexism or racial issues arise statistics should matter a lot. But yes, in fact there are conditions in which facts suggest that one group is not being discriminated against even though the data collected makes it seem that they are victims.and that will expand to provide a court argument for any sexist or racist claiming that the data should not be used as evidence. In my community we have 160 housing units. Only one has a black owner. And it really is due to racism but any lawyer could argue that is simply because black folks don't want to live with older white folks and in a way that is sort of true. The racial tension is great enough that black people might really have negative feelings about living here. No solution in sight is a problem for all of us to solve.
I have noticed that many women between the ages of 18 and 25 might as well have their smart phone welded to the side of their heads. I told one date that when we went to dinner if she answered or made a call I would walk out of the restaurant and stick her with the bill. Some of these girls would answer a call at graveside as their parent was being buried. i also am aware tat when women go outside the home to talk on the phone it is time for the family to seriously reel them in. Cell phones are involved in an endless stream of narcotics transactions. I know one addict that spends about four hours a day chasing her next high on the cell phone.
Today anyone can watch th earth rotate and clearly see that it is not flat. So exactly how can someone believe that it is flat? Ignorance and psychosis can at times be identical.
It comes down to birth control in the end. If our population does not increase we will have the same level of congestion that we now have. Almost all of our major problems relate to excessive population and we do need to take care of that. We now have 350 million or so Americans that produce X amount of pollution. If we expand to 700 millions we will have more than 2x pollution as congestion and land use will further destroy our way of life. When we hear politicians promising growth we need to make certain they are no longer politicians. Science will not get us out of these issues. Population control can.
It is true that minority members tend to murder other minority members. I suppose that it is also true that the rich tend to murder the rich. After all, people tend to murder family and close friends rather than strangers.
However when a system does not work for a segment of society it is normal to expect all kinds of crime and rebellion. You could see this among young males during the Vietnam era. People were being drafted and forced to fight in idiotic wars. So a message went out to young males and females. "Turn on" meaning take dope as you could not be drafted if you were loaded with dope or had been arrested for use of dope and the resistance was smart enough to try to apply the same to females as if there were no females the tactic would not work. "Drop out" meaning become jobless and a burden upon resources. "Tune in" meaning stay in touch with resistance forces, music and culture. So a generation spent their time "Puffing the Magic dragon" clogging jails and hospitals and generally making the war far less possible to sustain. I know that people revert to the patriot vs. coward nonsense but the fact is that those young people actually saved thousands of American soldiers lives by stopping that war sooner than it would have stopped without the resistance movement. People like Jane fonda were patriots of the highest order and helped save lives including innocents caught in the middle and enemy forces as well as US lives.
This week the first call for impeachment will be heard on the floor of the senate. I don't expect a win on that first call. But the calls will pile on and add up and if he is not removed for being unfit the impeachments will put him out of office. He may well spend his last years in prison. Today's date is 12/1/17.
Half baked movies about 300 lb. cockroaches from space taking over Earth can make a decent low budget horror movie. But bacteria from space taking us out just isn't worthy of being in a low budget flick.
Foul owls tend to know their own kind and they are bright enough to have friends carry their cell phones to destinations that will confuse and misdirect those trying to follow them from cell tower reports. In other words those same records could be used as a false proof that a bad guy did not commit a crime. In a way it is a form of discrimination against the ignorant as those who are stupid go to prison while those with a bit better intelligence or education use a law enforcement tool to establish false innocence.
The jerks who denied global warming exists held back projects that might have saved millions of lives as well as the stabilization of economies and nations. Yet they will pay no penalty for their idiotic remarks and beliefs. Maybe we should be in deep prayer that the world enters an ice age while the warming pushes in the opposite direction. Wars and calamities are already taking place due to global warming and here we have a US president failing to take meaningful actions to alleviate or moderate the effects of global warming. it is almost like treason when an official acts against the best interests or survival of a nation.
Unless someone gives you a productive farm what sense does it make to acquire one? A farm is like a roulette wheel. Once in a rare while you hit a jack pot but usually something bad ruins your season. Drought, bugs, wilt and fungus and all kinds of changing laws and tax rates stack the deck. So not only must a farmer fight the obvious problems but new farmers also have to pay off mortgages, pay for major machinery etc..Farming is a hard path to survive. Odd ball types of farms may do better than traditional farms. In my area some farmers get by with sidelines that are gimmicks such as selling dwarf goats that are usually kept as pets or odd ball chickens or baby pot belly pigs. Collecting honey for curb side sales can add to the till. And if you have enough room for a horse barn and path you can make a buck keeping other peoples' horses or even have a catfish farm.
In order to turn agencies like the FCC around we need to kill off the monsters in the swamp. Trump and all that supported him must be purged and entirely different leadership applied to all agencies.
People tend to murder people that they know. Regardless of race you are far more likely to gun down a family member or neighbor than some stranger. yes, the poor live near the poor. The rich live near the rich. You can bet that some of those rich folks kill family members or neighbors more than strangers.
I'm not so certain that you are correct about who is the largest victim. Obviously any retailer wants to sell in an area in which buyers can afford to purchase their products. There are plenty of poor areas in which owning a fancy car puts you in great danger. Not only will the steal your car or strip it they may kill you to prevent you from being a witness. Protecting a new car lot in such a neighborhood could raise the price of the product substantially. But the other reality is that government response to issues will crawl at such a slow pace that no improvements are ever made. One good race riot can wake up city, state and federal authorities and generate change for the community. It is a racist assumption to look at the people who riot and loot and think that what they are doing is not in their best interest. Sometimes it is very much in their best interests and sometimes it is not. Programs that might help is to make certain that no form of alcohol can be purchased from a store of bar or restaurant anywhere near an area of poverty. Tobacco should also be kept far away. The poor need to be free of tobacco, alcohol or items like Red Bull can be easily purchased in poor areas. The poor need their money. They do not need to be soothed by a cigarette of a beer. And of all things guns stores need to be kept far away from depressed neighborhoods. Use the law to prevent crime and then you don't have the expense of punishing someone for that crime.
During the last recession any arrest at all disqualified you from even being interviewed. That included misdemeanor arrests as well. And they did not give a hoot if charges were dropped or you were found not guilty. As soon as you checked the box asking if you were ever arrested you were a done deal.
Perpetual punishment is hardly a constitutional practice. In a way a convict who has completed his sentence should be considered as good as anyone else. On the other hand if we adopt that idea we create another wrong. Suppose you have two job applicants that are so close to perfect that it is hard to find any fault at all in their life history. Bother were honors students with awards for academic and athletic prowess. Both graduated from top universities with honors in difficult fields of interest. Word for word i have heard "But he has a family to support.". I always had one answer for that. I would tell the employer flat out that i would never work for an employer who discriminates and quit on the spot and sometimes cause a few others to walk of the job as well. That is even more infuriating when the other guy has to miss all kinds of work due to sick kids etc.. The old school way was to fire people who missed work without asking why they missed. For example, late or absent five times in one year and you were out of a job. That meant that the guy that woke up with a hangover one day a month would generally be unemployed rather quickly.
Jolly old England got ahead and stayed ahead for several hundred years before they lost the number one spot. The US had about 80 years before we lost the number one spot. One would think that the top position would shift every few weeks as new developments take place. But it does not work that way. Money attracts money and power attracts power. A nation with money and power can hold other nations down for centuries. This is a huge factor in the generation of war. A nation feeling that it can be higher in the pecking order than another nation will often attack trying to gain status, money and power. Japan in 1938 was like that. There was no way out of that trap other than taking areas that could provide natural resources. Germany was similar. First Germany is cold and thus is limited in crop production. The only problem is that it can easily be taken to explore every detail of every person's life. Imagine if the government had the power to totally investigate everyone all the time. I'll bet money that only about 2% of the public is free of committing some sort of serious crime. It may be telling lies in order to get health or medical insurance or some games with under the table money or the use of some sort of illegal drug now and then but we now have so many laws that just about everyone belongs in a prison if they dig deep enough and hard enough. The other issue is in proof of a motive. For example, in a farming community a guy might ask around if anyone had purchased too much fertilizer for the season as he was short on cash and would be willing to buy the excess to save money. The seller probably would assume that the man had crops that needed more fertilizer and being that it doesn't store well agreed to sell him 1,000 lbs.. Now that seller could be innocent as a dove or he may really know that the guy is looking to blow up an abortion clinic. So that seller will end up at trial which will bankrupt him for life, risk prison, all the while being totally innocent of any wrong thinking or actions. Meanwhile a prosecutor may drag everyone the seller has ever known into court and try to prove guilt by association. That guy the seller has a beer with at the American legion just might be a KKK member and avid race hater. Imagine how far off the rails such an investigation and police action can go. And also keep in mind that the OJ Simpson case taught us well that cops can lie under oath and also alter evidence. Giving government too much power is dangerous.
Crime has so many ways of costing us all money that it is vital that these people are caught and serve life ruining sentences. As a simple example riding bicycles produces all kinds of benefits for all of us. It frees up parking spaces. It reduces pollution. It improves the health of the riders and thus keeps medical expenses down for the community. So maybe you've got a cheap bike that gets swiped. How harsh should the sentencing be? Keep in mind that you are forced to carry keys, purchase cables and locks and that many people do not use bicycles due to the locking and unlocking rituals that get so very frustrating. And by the way more murders occur during bicycle thefts than in bank robberies. So would it be unreasonable to put a first offender in prison for 15 or 20 years? Isn't that just a simple message that if you do wrong society may really crush you? When I was a youth any arrest for use or possession of any illegal drug was pretty much a life ender. The consequence was that in the suburbs there was almost no drug use at all among school kids. They are still digging up the bodies of these missing youth who the authorities simply claimed that they escaped and vanished. Teens would actually say they didn't want to go to Marianna when others asked them to get involved in some sort of crimes. I am aware that rabid justice is sort of a sick idea but the catch is that it worked.
Investigation can be a very powerful tool and it can be misused as well. If there is a very strong reason to think that accomplices were involved then maybe violations of privacy are justified. But when confronted with the notion that a person just might have had an accomplice i don't think warrants or arrests are in order. Arrests can also be a rather evil tool. Cops can make an arrest all the while knowing that they will release a person if information is provided to the P.D.. The potential is disturbing. Imagine your young daughter being swept up and drilled about whether you might have mentioned tax evasion. The cops manage to grab her with a small amount of dope and threaten the daylights out of her if she will not talk about your business dealings. It is far too easy to end up living in a police state.
If the US went to war with China our only hope would be nuclear war. There are simply so many Chinese that we would be dwarfed by their numbers. The US would have no good choice other than robotic warfare. Therefore I want my bots to be stronger, meaner and more in numbers as well as quantities to prevent a really horrific war. There are also huge monetary concerns. What does it cost for one prison guard? Lethal bots that prevented escapes would save us a king's ransom. Your local convenience store and gas station might also be a lot better off if robbers had no chance at all of pulling stick ups without bots taking them out. We could also gain control of our streets making crime next to impossible so that civilians could walk at any hour of day or night without fear. Also mass shootings might be eliminated as drones would be all over a gunman when he acted out. We might also learn quite a bit. These days when we pass laws and supposedly try to prevent certain situations we really don't want to control those crimes. As an example hookers know to work the expensive hotels as they rarely get arrested in expensive locations. But if they try to work in cheap motels the cops will be all over them. The truth is that the expensive hotels do more business if they have some good looking girls available and the richer folk who haunt these hotels want to be able to hire girls when they get the urge. Since drones could be used to track hookers and summon management you can bet that you won't see that in the expensive hotels. Gated communities act the same way. Some escorts will only go to gated communities as the cops simply do not interfere behind those gates. Our system accommodates certain crimes for certain people.
I certainly like an environment in which everyone is happy and friendly. Yet when we promote this sunshine and sugar cookie type of behavior we take a huge risk. At this very moment our nation is under a severe attack that will have very long lasting, negative consequences. Our national leadership is corrupt evil and dangerous. I certainly hope that people get in the face of the right wingers and push back hard. Being rude and dismissive is at times totally appropriate behavior. If Attila the Hun is on your lawn with a sword it is time to destroy, not time to hold out a welcome sign.
