Don't forget manditory repossesion of cars, houses, and other material possesions if "caught" violating this law, with no means to appeal or buy back your posessions. Oh.. you don't know that happens when they find a joint in your car. Wait till they start repoing systems for file sharing.
Thanks for the link Spoticus. You just made a new friend. I posted a reply asking for the source. Hopefully he will respond and I can put another burr in the the RIAAs' side.
I was reading this and had a thought. Has anyone set up a FTP or P2P honey pot to attract attention from the RIAA?
This could be a great way to annoy the RIAA when they try and sue or fine someone that actually doesn't have illegal material on their hard drive. Has anyone done this yet? Any storys? Could the honey pot project be used to simulate a FTP server with mp3 goodies?
I had the same experience the other day when I was sitting around at my friends house. I kept loking for the remote to skip the commericals and twice found myself biting my lip from asking my buddy to rewind it because I couldn't hear some of the dialog.
"With the ReplayTV units, the service is "free", but the retail price of the units are a few hundred dollars more expensive (or at least they were when I compared prices). So even though there's no explicit subscription fee, you're essentially paying for the same thing as a TiVo with lifetime service. "
Sorry your wrong... Both have the same payment options. Either a one time lifetime fee, or a monthly payment.
What does "ReplayTV maker Sonicblue to file for Chapter 11" actually means "ReplayTV and Rio maker Sonicblue is a goner?"
Nothing.. like many other posters commented chapter 11 is not closing it's doors, its reorginization. and any good editor would have know to make that distinction.
Oh and BTW "that $140 deal on Amazon isn't looking so hot now, is it?" Thanks for alienating all the replay users. I for one wont be contributing to ANY of YOUR causes any more. Or reading tacos shitty ass posts either.
Like another poster commented the first day was against targets of opportunity. It was also a bit of a cat and mouse game. The goverment wanted to do preliminary bombing in hopes that Iraq would light up it's radar arrays and move key units thus giving us more intel and targets for the actuall event.
Hey, For your information MBNA has a do not call list as well as a seperate list that stops them from mailing the silly checks and other offers they do.
Call them and let them know. I have had my MBNA card for over two years and don't hear a thing from them anymore.
(previously they just claimed to provide guide data, now they claim to provide functionality actually provided by the box I purchased).
Hey,
I have a Replay and Sonic Blue just did the same thing on their latest software upgrade. My understanding is the company is covering it's back. If these law suits make part of the service provided illegal they can disable that service with a software upgrade and without breaking the previous EULA. With Sonic it is the Commercial advance and the ability to share that may end up dissappearing.
I agree it sucks, and I don't see how EULA's can be indefinatly extended and modified without both parties agreeing, but that was my understanding as to why.
Am I the only one that see this as something lacking in most faq's.
You go to the page after looking through a manual to try and fix a problem. The manual has the normal things to look for, most a third grader would think of checking.
So finding nothing there you go to the page to be presented with a FAQ page that has the same third grade solutions. No more information, or anything that is even remotely usefull to solve the problem. Get with it people I know to check to see if it's plugged in!!
I downloaded the IE6 beta yesterday and it actually pops up a small box inside the picture when you point to the left corner, and allows you to save/print/email/ or open the my pics folder.
Pretty cool feature for Win users to get pics and stuff from the net.

That is not a reason not to allow servers. What you have here is a Gatekeeper problem. If you don't support users running server programs then you shouldn't be getting phone calls, and who ever is transferring them to you needs to be repremanded, or informed that these are unsupported questions. What your doing is using it as an excuse, and basically infringing on OUR rights as consumers to use the product as it best fits us! REMEBER WE ARE ALWAYS RIGHT!

"D&M Holdings intends to keep all ReplayTV
customers and will design, manufacture and distribute a line of ReplayTV and
Rio products."
Sounds like they plan on continuing as normal. Hopefully D&M won't be buryied like Sonic Blue.
Mysteriously the mail volume seems to increase every time the article gets mentioned
hummm talk about publicity being a bad thing
