I swear, it is like Apple designed a windows laptop. "we made it ultra simple to not confuse our dumb-dumb consumers, but for an extra $200 you can have this accessory that gives it what it should have had in the first place"
Bad. I think that each city, town, neighborhood, whatever should be able to make whatever rules they want on the subject. I like the inexpensive stays and potential side income from AirB&B, but living in an area with them can really suck because you get can get stuck with a different shitty neighbor every few nights. not to mention the fact that that additional income can contribute to the inflation of the real-estate in an area. I think any sweeping regulation on the issue would be heavy-handed, the determination of if it should be permitted should be determined individually in each area, by the people who live in that area.
yea, because groups of native guerilla soldiers could never drive out a technologically more advanced adversary, that only happens in Fairytales and movies... oh wait...
After dealing with the Wii and 3DS and the Nintendo account system I don't intend to buy a new Nintendo system till they get that figured out. Having to spend 2 hours with customer support to transfer my account from my old 3DS to a New 3DS is not an experience I'm looking to repeat ever. They need to follow catch up with Steam, PSN, and XBL, and make that easier before I'd even consider them again.
I have to disagree. You are right when looking at a tech-literate consumer, but most consumers are not tech-literate. I can not tell you how many people i have had to deal with back when i was in IT that just wanted a shiny rectangle to check facebook and email. These people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between an i7 and core m, because they never use more than a core m's worth of power.
The FBI can't complain about security flaws while taking Apple to court to mandate broken security. It is disturbing that they can't see how broken their logic is.

Actually, they have tried a system like this before, and you simply got a screen saying you do not have access to content in that region. I used to visit England while they were trying this and i had to VPN back to the states to use netflix.
While I agree with you that this was a stupid thing for the parents to do, I think you may want to consider that much of our society is technologically ignorant. My teacher way back in elementary school used to say "you can give a monkey a calculator, but that doesn't mean he can do math." I feel much of our society is that monkey with a calculator, they know what buttons to hit to get what they want, but they do not understand how/why it works and even fewer understand the deeper implications of their actions. This isn't due to a lack of intelligence, but a lack of needing to know and a lack of interest. My guess is the parents don't think of the power of the "toy" they hand off to their kid, because to them it is just a tool of convenience and at that moment the most convenient use is to pacify their kid.
So, as an avid gamer, i will be the first to tell you that there is rarely a 'need' for anything gamers do. However, there is an intense 'want' for any piece of hardware or software that makes us think our gaming rig is in any way better now than it was 5 minutes ago. This feeling extends from $350 graphics cards to $.50 stickers and everything in between.
This should be made illegal. When i purchase a phone from a service provider (Verizon, i'm looking at you) there should only be the most basic apps for functionality from the OS. I would even settle for the ability to uninstall this crap-tastic spam, but the best they will let you do is 'disable' aka, 'i'm going to sit here, take up storage, and bug you repeatedly to update me'. I should not have to purchase an unlocked phone from the manufacturer just to evade what essentially amounts to corporate malware.
If you think that someone who escalates an argument to the point of shooting someone without fear for their own life is a good guy, i'd hate to meet who you'd consider a bad guy.

I'm pretty sure it can be classified as both racist and xenophobic.
Owning a cat IS a mental illness
We should be encouraging STEM and medical degrees, not making them even more difficult to pursue.
yea, that works great if you didn't trade the first one in to purchase the 2nd.

I would love to have it filter out all prepositions to see what it comes up with.

If you read the article it clearly shows that this is a feature that can be easily disabled. People are just looking for reasons to be angry.
As a responsible gun owner and one of the 'people are going to cry "Second Amendment" and everything', Yea... you may have something here...
