This isn't like she had a couple of blisters. This means her lower pelvic area was BLACK with burns. That's a little bit more traumatic than your typical coffee spill on the lap.
They're a bullshit company with some of the most useless support I've ever had, they treat their employees like shit and really charge too much anyways. I hate Telus. I have a cell phone with Fido/Rogers and a cable modem with Shaw (which seems to always be faster than Telus' DSL anyways). If I ever have a problem I usually have a technician at my house within a week (sometimes by the end of the day) and haven't had a single problem that wasn't fixed within an hour of a technician being here.
Come on people, let capitalism work for you! VOTE WITH YOUR MONEY, IT'S THE ONLY LANGUAGE CORPORATIONS UNDERSTAND.
They're talking about identifying with the characters, not with the situations.
Homer is an archetypal American blue collar worker, marge an archetypal housewife, bart the rebellious kid, lisa the suck up do-gooder, maggie rounding out the family for the 2.3 kids.
The whole point of a satire is that it takes pieces of the world that we are rather familiar with and exagerrating aspects of it to emphasize certain points in human nature. if you don't see that in the simpsons, then you've missed the point of the whole show.
south park did this even moreso, except that's based pretty directly on littleton colorado, whereas springfield is supposed to just be an archetypal american city (hence all the debates over what state springfield is in).
i can watch that episode maybe once every other year. sure, you think it's funny early on, then you start to say to yourself 'the only thing keeping this funny is the riffing'.
by the end of the movie, even mst can't save this one. your finger just propells itself to your eye.
btw, i have a copy of the movie unedited. i've had it since my birthday, but still haven't watched it (6 months now). simply because i watched it back in april with mst and i don't think it'll be at least now.... maybe another year... before i can trudge through it sans riffing.
First Karma I got that went tits-up had a faulty hard drive that kicked out after two weeks.
My latest problem is that I can't charge the bugger. Plug it in, nothing happens. It sucks too because I've got this hard drive on there with a bunch of mp3s/oggs and my computer was recently stolen (yeah, I know, back up back up back up) so I've got a bunch of music on there I want to get off of it but can't.
Anybody here know of any home solutions? I'm out of warranty and don't mind opening her up if it'll fix the problem.
Tigerdirect sues Spiderman, the city of Detroit and Rudyard Kipling for similar use of the word.
I used Tigerdirect.ca once for buying a Rio Karma. Never again. About a month after buying my Karma (20G HD mp3 player) it broke (nothing against td). So I call Tigerdirect for warranty information.
First of all, they changed their website so that it no longer advertised the 1 year warranty I saw when I purchased the player and changed it to 90 days (the same as the manufacturer's warranty), and disavowed any knowledge of this mythical 1 year warranty (one of the reasons I picked TD over others). They just tried to refer me back to the manufacturer.
So finally I say fine, take the 1-800 phone number.
Phone number doesn't work in Canada. The web page did say.ca, right? Turns out all that means is they converted their prices to Canadian Dollars. That no-duty thing they advertised? Hah. I had to pay a $130 C.O.D. on the player when it showed up at my door because they shipped from Pennsylvania.
So yeah, the toll free number doesn't work.
I call back Tigerdirect. Complain that the number they gave me doesn't work in Canada. So the buddy tells me that they'll get in touch with me about it.
That was a year and a fucking half ago. I still never heard back. Ultimately, after a week of waiting, I went to Rio's site, and after extensive digging I finally found a number in Toronto I could call. So I call Rio directly, they honour the warranty and in two months (ugh) I have a refurbished player. That one lasted a year (never buy Rio hard drive players, they suck. There's a reason iPods are more expensive).
Tigerdirect is a horrible company that is out there for the same reasons microsoft is: Make a cheap buck out of people who don't know any better.
From the article: AOL's Bird predicts that teens will be among the first to embrace new, Web-based video technology. "You will very soon be able to shoot video messages and play those video messages on your blog that your friends can go to," Bird says. "So your community, your scheduling, your friends, your holidays - all of this stuff will live in an online environment."
IT'S UP TO YOU! If you see something that looks like obvious propaganda, press the "related" button... CORROBORATE! If you're not doing this anyways, then you definately aren't getting the full picture. Any History student will tell you likewise.
Frankly, I dislike the mainstream media in general. But at least this way I can filter through the stories that interest me and figure out what's fluff and what's the facts.
But why not? It's pretty much the exact same thing as Slashdot. The editors are just a bit more... automated?... and they don't give commentary at all, and there are no comments section. But just because it's not slashcode or MoveableType doesn't mean it's not a blog.
It's not like the "mainstream" media is going to be ousted due to bloggers. More often than not, a news blog will merely link offsite to a more mainstream news site. I really like Google News simply because it gives you plenty of options as to which news source you choose to listen to. Take Google News/ It's like a newspaper except that it's updated frequently (like, on a minute-by-minute basis), or a TV broadcast except you don't need to watch it when they tell you to.
The news media will still find ways of making money... usually the same way they always have: Advertising. Granted, there are problems with the blog system.... Even here for example, slashdot pulled a Silly user bug up to the front page of slashdot with a heading saying that Firefox was not as stable as we originally thought, thus sending a hint of FUD along with the release of Firefox.
That being said, at google news the story about Firefox's release and how it has started to kick IE's ass sat on the front page for a good number of days. In fact, as of this posting, it's still 11th on the Science/Tech page.
Crap. I realize this is starting to sound like a plug for Google News... but christ... IT'S GOOD. It ranks the same way that it ranks web pages, which means the news stories people are talking about the most get put on the front page. Again, this isn't always reliable, but what single news source is? At least with Google news they have a "all 523 related" link so you can try to corroborate between different news sources and see if you can inch out the truth from those.
Blogs just seem a smarter way to distribute news. The nice thing about this application of the internet (as opposed to say... MP3s) is that stuff like this is likely to get full backing from the news industry. After all, news blogs are just trying to serve the same purpose as the news media: Inform people as to what's going on in the world.
I believe this was a problem due to creative "differences" between the writer (an avid fan of Star Trek) and the director (someone who supposedly prided himself on having never seen Star Trek or something).
Apparently Lore was mentioned in the original script (I saw a little parody on the net that had Geordie and Data saying "Hey Data, you remember your brother Lore who was the OTHER android in the series?" "No." "Me neither!") and Wesley actually had a speaking role that was cut out.... and if rumour serves correct, the speaking role made mention of the Traveller...
I could be wrong, and I'm not about to go try and verify it as most the information I got from unarchived forum posts.
Everybody's pretty much fielded this one here. What I've gathered from the forums (now no longer attached to his blog) he uses OSX primarily, but when he does work on x86 he works in Red Hat/Fedora. The forums actually had a LUG forum (still do on the new site, found here) which I'm guessing Wil just put on there in order to have a place he could ask all the Linux geeks his questions without having to translate the man pages and howtos from Geek to English.
For third-degree burns to come from Coffee?
This isn't like she had a couple of blisters. This means her lower pelvic area was BLACK with burns. That's a little bit more traumatic than your typical coffee spill on the lap.
That's the worst fucking idea I've heard since I was a padawan!
Have you ever worked in a call center?
I want to write an Emo song and call it "I never call into Phone Sex lines because all the chicks who work at call centers are fat."
Except that this is actually an exploit in IE that affects firefox. But thanks for coming out.

okay. how is someone who doesn't want to spend a a couple months learning how to deal with rpm hell and running ./config scripts supposed to do it?
and how, pray tell, is one supposed to get rid of ie?
'quick manos fix'???
such a thing doesn't exist.

seriously. manos fix? you poor masochist.
Dude, we get worse on 9pm on standard cable.
Showcase and shows like The Hitchiker fucking got me through puberty.
His right to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law? Everybody else's rights to see justice served? The rights he's given up by breaking the law?
Just because it's relating to rights doesn't mean the case shouldn't be happening.

They already can, there's already a subculture based around it, and Maddox has already made fun of it.
This is where Google really shines.

Time for another game of FANTASY VS. REALITY.
Ready...?
If you're going to be a grammar nazi, don't forget the "r" in Loser.
Thanks,
Me.
Loser, Idiot, Nobody.
Don't you mean "Lose, Idiot, Noone"?
