I get many emails, so I had to find a way to save emails without filling up my Inbox. An Archives sub-folder (from Inbox) for recent mail works nicely. Once an email is no longer needed then I move it to one of the following folders:

    /personal

This is email from friends or personal contacts go. If I'm in constant contact with someone then I'll create a sub-folder for him/her and archive mails here (such as Bill, Frank, Jane), otherwise I simply archive emails in Personal.

    /business

This is for other non-personal emails. It varies on so many things but the main thing I try to do in this folder is create broad, generic words like "Flash" (since I do Macromedia Flash development), "Movies" (you've got to have a Lord of the Rings folder and Apple's Trailers folder), "Games" (for Gamespy newsletters and the like). And for legit mailing lists, I have a "Spam" folder (for TriggerStreet, J-Crew, Buy.com, and so on)

I also use POPfile, which does a nice job of filtering out illegitimate Spam.

  5. Interesting on SCO Announces Final Termination of IBM's Licence · · Score: 1

So does SCO's claim say that only Linux 2.4 and 2.5 contain chunks of Unix code, or was this Unix code always there as part of the original Kernel? If the code was always they're as part of the original Kernel, then I find it interesting that Linux from day one was open-source. This meant SCO has access to the source code, probably reviewed it thoroughly and would have determined that parts of the code were from Unix.

One has to wonder why they didn't address this issue in Linux' early years. The obvious answer is the market was privy to Linux. So like a good company, they sat back quietly and waited for Linux to germinate the Tech Industry. When this was successful then they would start their campaign of extracting license fees.

On one hand I think this is a shady thing to do. Yet since they own the rights to Unix' code they have a legitimate claim to ask for money to use that code. This puts them in a unique position of being a Monopoly in that they can do whatever they want and they'll probably still be alive tomorrow because frankly we all know that Unix is a DAMN GOOD platform to run just about anything on (enterprise or non-enterprise).

    My two cents...

Maybe for newer model Xboxs. But Microsoft can't implement this on older models. Unlike Windows, the Xbox is isolated from the web (unless you hook yourself up to XboxLive). There's no mecanism for Microsoft to do anything to your Xbox. Which is probably going to lead to these first and second generation Xboxs being worth a load of money on auction sites.

Let's say in one scene the director calls for certain effects to be swapped around with others. Or in another scene the director tells you to the effects need to be reduced due to length reasons. Once the special effects have been rendered and are in place, do you use video editing software like Apple's Final Cut Pro or Adobe's Premiere to make revisions, or do you go back into the 3D rendering tool directly, make the changes and re-render? If you use video editing tools, on average how much time, for an average big budget film, is spent utilizing these apps?

Is there any Linux video editing software you and your staffers are currently excited about that you would recommend?

What are the main differences between a rendered cinematic and a special effect? Which one involves more brainstorming and creativity?

Are there any schools or books you would recommend for learning how to make 3D rendered effects and cinematics?

I remember one my co-workers told me about this convention he went to. The presenter asked how many people did web developers. Around 90% of the room raised their hands. And of those, he then asked how many actual wrote HTML code. Only 5% raise their hand. The harsh truth is many of today's developers don't even hand code anymore. They use WYSIWYG editors like DreamWeaver, FrontPage, etc. that write the code for them. I get pissed off when I come to a major company's site and it says, "This site best viewed in IE". To me that shows a total lack of respect for me as the customer and a complete lack of talent and knowledge on the part of the web developer(s). The solution to our dilemma is to get rid of WYSIWYG web developers that pass themselves off as actual web developers.
