"As they said in the game, Jenova was a body that fell from the sky, meaning they don't know where "she" came from, just that it appeared to fall from space."
And is there reason to believe no more will fall from space?
"The Cetra race were extinct, aside from Aerith's mother."
And why wouldn't there be any more on other worlds?
"Remember, movie piracy doesn't just hurt actors, but also camera operators, key grips, makeup artists, and costumers."
The MPAA themselves are hurting them with heavy-handed tactics that make me boycott their products. Or am I somehow now a "bad person" because I'm not parting with my MPAA tax?
And what alternative do I have? I only know barely enough Japanese to answer "Nihongo ga wakarimasu ka?" in the negative (and what little I do understand I got from anime/manga and BattleTech novels) and even then it has to be in romanji or I'm pretty much in the dark. As much as I like Final Fantasy, I'm not about to learn a foreign language just to play the game when I have a reasonable facsimilie right here, complete with corny translation flubs tossed in for spice. Therefore, my only other alternative was to wait for them to port the game to yet another console (and that probably won't happen until they re-release FF III, sometime after the release of Duke Nukem Forver).
So I may not fit your definition of "hardcore" gamer. And if I'm not hardcore enough, I have to ask: When was the last time you showered?
Cloud wasn't a bad ass, he just thought he was a bad ass (namely, a bad ass named Zack). And then he had a mental breakdown when he learned he wasn't half the bad ass he thought he was.
"Best FF villian: Sephiroth"
Kefka. Sephiroth just had dellusions of grandeur and/or an overblown ego. Kefka was driven mad by magitech infusion, began to think he was God, then actually was God. And Kefka used WMD more often (though perhaps not as often as X-Death).
"Best FF bimbo: Tifa"
Tera/Tina never could make up her mind about anything. The Empire probably put the slave crown on her just to get her to shut up already.
"Most annoying FF kid character: Yuffie"
Relm. Especially since Yuffie's special skill didn't cause my SNES to freeze.
"Best character no one gives a !@#$ about: Cait Sith"
So I was the only one getting choked up when he sacrificed himself?
And Cait Sith was infinitely more useful than Edward, especially in the ET game.
"Best mysterious but useless character:Vincent"
I'd have to say Edward again. His sexual orientation is still a mystery.:)
"Korea does have an embargo against Japanese products"
I don't think it's an embargo per se so much as a cultural aversion towards all things Japanese. Kinda like how Slavs or Jews might not be all that interested in German-produced goods.
"The end of the original game, no matter how ambiguous, wrapped up the plot quite nicely."
It did? Then maybe you can explain to me where Jenova and the Cetra came from, and why either of them or their ilk won't be coming back in the future (near or otherwise).
"To wit: two cars going exactly 90 miles an hour, side by side, can bounce off each other repeatedly with very little damage and with neither driver losing control."
Only if the two drivers in question are talented enough to handle the obnoxious moment of inertia their spinning wheels have. Torques applied to spinning gyroscopes have the nasty habit of being deflected 90 degrees. Ever wonder why your car's frame rocks more while changing lanes at highway speeds than you think it should?
I liked that too, and I think that putting that baddie in OoT was also a nice touch (he was just about as hard as the shadow in Zelda II for me the first few times). But at this point I think that the boss fight in Wind Waker was the best of the series. Nintendo actually got me feeling sorry for the guy at the end, and that's not something I can remember any other game doing.
"So if you buy a meatball sub and a turkey sub at Subway and get them both to go, if you get them on separate checks, one is taxable and the other isn't."
"When is the last time your car mechanic told you that you couldn't drive your vehicle because you are an idiot?"
They don't have to. That's what traffic courts are for. And then there's the cop with the bemused face who pulls said idiot over while they were trying to drive out of the courthouse parking lot with a suspended license.
You know, some of us actually like to use a processor that multitasks. You should have said that a 386 is all you need, so you can (kinda) run vi and emacs on linux and properly participate in the editor wars.
"The Open Source community are not your "customers"?"
They have a point. Look here and count all the posts that say "Why should I spend money on StarOffice when OOo is free?" It's kinda hard to be a customer when you don't spend money.
"And if you crash the bike, it won't leave you drenched in acid"
Most motorcyclists I've seen would be lucky to have skin left to be drenched after a crash. Unless you're counting the bits of skin strewn across a few hundred feet of asphault.

Who's going to be the poor bastard lugging around the diesel generator to recharge the squad's Segways when they're rolling around BFE?
"And don't you go bitchin' about not being able to download a j2e translated ROM."
Why would I care? I already have Final Fantasy Chronicles. Or have you not gotten a copy yet?
"So when can i play tetris against someone else simultaneously?"
For that you'll have to wait until some time after 1989.
Are you referring to the upcoming Square-Enix release, or IGN's Flash-heavy pages?
"it appears a scan from the upcoming V-Jump magazine"
If those pictures are what the movie looks like, I'll wait for the paperback, thanks.
"Best FF bad ass hero: Cloud"
:)
Shadow. He'd slit is mamma's throat for a nickle.
Cloud wasn't a bad ass, he just thought he was a bad ass (namely, a bad ass named Zack). And then he had a mental breakdown when he learned he wasn't half the bad ass he thought he was.

" I know all sorts of stuff has been done to PS2 and X-box, but what about GameCube?"
:)
<FLAMEBAIT>
You see, unlike those other two consoles, the Cube is fun right out of the box.

"Computers will operate at the speed of light in the future."
IIRC, if you play your cards right you can use spintronics to make a computer that operates faster than the speed of light.
"It was Nixon, a Republican, who began trading with China."
And it was Clinton, a Democrat, that signed the bill giving China "permanent normal trade relations" status. What's your point?
I liked that too, and I think that putting that baddie in OoT was also a nice touch (he was just about as hard as the shadow in Zelda II for me the first few times). "The average F16 doesn't have any trouble at all taking off by itself, (...) given a long enough runway."
A long enough what? In 1903, you were lucky to find a paved road. I'd like to see an F-16 (or an F-18) take off from a beach.
"They can, they just need a longer runway then the carrier deck."
Ah, but it's far easier to get a paved runway in the early 21st century than it was in the early 20th. Or a paved anything, for that matter.

Dear God! I don't think the aluminum foil in my deflector beanie is thick enough to handle all that! Quick, get me some sheet metal!

"Mechwarrior 1,2,3 (sarcasm intended)"
ActiVision, ActiVision, and a collaboration between ActiVision, FASA Interactive and Microsoft.
Forget MechWarrior, forget MechCommander, why did Microsoft have to give the axe to a straight, well-done translation of BattleTech?
