I think the No Child Left Behind push towards standardized testing pretty much made that go away. That and budget cuts with art and shop being trimmed way down or tossed out all together in many places.
My kid spends way too much time imo learning cursive. They make her do a lot of her work in both cursive and print which seems like a waste of time when the number of hours spent in class keep shrinking. They should be learning to type and print; forget about cursive.
No. You launch processes in Win8 the same you did in Win7; hit the windows key, type the first few letters of the program and hit enter. What's the big deal?
They'll announce it in two years after the market has proven successful. But by then it will be dominated by other companies and it will be an up hill struggle to get a toe-hold.
Oh how I feel this pain. Every time I'm asked to install a mod for my daughter I swear it will be the last time. But it isn't. The tears of your child are corrosive in nature and work their way through the thickest veneer, finding their way into your heart one way or another. So inflicted, we return again and again to that which hurts us. Powerless to those tears.
It's got nothing to do with porn sites. The sites where you have to go to get mods are a bitch and deliberately try to trick you into clicking on false downloads and the ads often trigger virus alerts because they know everyone that goes there has Java.
I've been liking it on my desktop system too. It's nice to be able to pin Hulu in the corner of one display and not have it interact with other windows.
Yeah, but for a growth company like apple, wallstreet doesn't care how big your profits are *now*. They only care if the growth rate is going to keep pace. At this point apple needs to break open a new market. Maybe Jobs could have pulled that off again but people worry that Cook isn't up to it.
"More than half dozen". So more than six and less than twelve facilities use these and it makes news? Then a few sentences later I read that "some of them even run windows". More wtfness going on. So someone is buying over priced hardware to run retail (because Apple doesn't have an OEM agreement) copies of Windows. That's a winning business plan right there.
I'm a nerd and I like it better than Win7. I'd never have the nerve to try and speak for all nerds though. I hear some nerds don't even like Win7 all that much.
I have Raynaud's syndrome. There are times when it's cold and I've gone to the doctor's visit. They put the little gadget on my finger to take a reading and it doesn't work because the ends of my fingers are white. Will suck the first time I can't buy something because of this.
Pick a platform and start making games and apps. It's low cost to get into. It's fun. And even though I've not made much money at it yet I may in the future. I honestly don't understand why every programmer doesn't do this on the weekends.
No, MS does it the best way. They show it in GB so regular people will know how much space is there. Most people don't know what a GiB is and adding more terms just makes it more confusing. Then *right* next to it they tell you *exactly* how many bytes that is so there can't be any confusion. Apple does do it the wrong way because they give the incorrect marketing value from start to finish.
No, this is a non-issue. They advertise that it's a 64GB SSD. And it's neither misleading or false advertising because they put the little not right there explaining that the OS and pre installed apps take up a bunch of space. Much of which can be recovered btw. The 64GB surface pro I checked out at best buy had nearly 50GB free. It's just funny that so many otherwise technically minded people think this is an issue.
I'm not so sure. The Apple brand is getting spread pretty darn thin already. It no longer feels special to own Apple gear and their brand was mostly what it's all about for them. The one thing they do really well is marketing though, so maybe they'll be able to milk it for a few more product cycles.
What did the server do that it ran entirely in ram and was also useful? Or were they just leaving it on to see how long it would go at that point?

No. There isn't enough transparency to be sure we are killing the right person in such a case. We bomb to many innocent people as it is.

Wouldn't work well in a VM anyway.
Did you say the same thing back when MS was strong arming people to play by their rules?
Nice. History nerd chimes in for the burn!

I really liked the old Sim City games and would really like to try this one but I won't.

Or have it push the important data to the cloud.

That was true a few years ago. IE9 and IE10 are both pretty good. I use IE10 / Chrome interchangeably.

Then you are doing it wrong.

The Texas School Board will be happy to accept their prize for turning biology on its head.
