    We're both busy here, so just a few quick thoughts. (Though I'd be glad to continue this on alt.freemasonry.)

    * 1375 to 2004 != thousands of years

    * Modern Freemasonry (according to the UGLE) started in 1717 when the first GL the GLE was formed. (Modern masons are the only ones avaliable to sue microsoft.)

    * The origins of Freemasonry are unknown. Some people believe there is a connection to mason guilds, but little to support that.

    * I don't know where you got the idea that Freemasons were "originally behind the architechture and construction of many churches and cathedrals"

    You would have done better to say "Freemasonry".

    Francmasonry looks to me like a spanish/romainian group -- probably pseudo-masonic.

    And yes, we (Freemasons) do tend to use long abbreviations, D.O.U.O.S.V.A.V.V.M. wouldn't be a message (see: Freemasons cipher)

    What you're seeing in the obits are most likely his masonic credentials.

    I know that I'm not the only one doing it around here.

    Okay, that really doesn't justify anything -- of course, I don't think you really need to justify your actions here. The editors have don't that for you.

    These were not computer illiterate people either.

    In my beginners class, I teach OO.o along side MS Office. Often times, my very computer illiterate students have trouble understanding that there are differences. (e.g. They have no trouble using the free alternative.)

    Of course, they don't use much beyond the basic tools -- but I'd venture that the majority of office users don't either.
