I wouldn't be so sure that pouring a lifetime's worth of household chemicals in an enclosed space would not be lethal. Household chemicals include ammonia, chlorine bleach, descaler, paint thinner, and ethanol-rich mixtures. Saturated ethanol vapor is anout 3x the lethal concentration (LC50, 4 hours).
What teleconferencing system do you guys use that is so effective? Over here, any Skype for Business meeting is endless trouble with warbled audio, crashing screen sharing, and occasional bluescreening. And forget about scribbling a diagram on a whiteboard.
Emacs for all of them, except in the terminal, in which case it's "emacs -nw".:)
In the old days when emacs meant "eight megabytes and constantly swapping" I would use lightweight emacs clones (jove, jed, jmacs) occasionally, but who cares about 8 MB today?
OK, an exception is web stuff with mixed javascript/php/html. Emacs sucks for that. (I solve that by avoiding that kind of work.)
Well, calculated your way: 1% + 1% = 1.99% rather than 2%.. Typically you want the overall probability of failure to be a small number. If your probabilities of failure are so high that it makes a significant difference, then you don't have a failsafe system anyway.
Why have an app? Kust a picture of the qr code or a paper printout would work just as well. Or just tell tjem your name and DoB and have them look it up on the server.
I think those FCR values are for dry weight of food divided by gross (wet, including bones and intestine) weight of the animal. It's a bit apples-oranges between different animals with different diets and different body composition. I don't think it has a meaning for vegetarians, unless you count the weight gain of the vegetarian human. Alternatively, the equivalent FCR would be greater than one since you'dd add water to dry grains until it's nutritional value is comparable to that of meat.
The Volkskrant newspaper claims to have been working on this scoop for seven months to verify that the leaked information was genuine; they found 15 people willing to talk. Also, the newspaper has more information than what they publish. If anything, the newspaper chose to publish it before the referendum.
Would you mind providing a link to OnePlus's response? And regarding alleged FUD: this guy discovered the adb root mode in OnePlus; is that FUD in your opinion?
"You seriously think that surface conditions have an effect on "the global geodynamo""
And then you continue to explain that that's exactly the case? And link to an article that states that it was generally believed among scientists that the mass redistribution from melting ice caps are the main cause, until someone proposed that smaller climate/human related mass changes at 45 deg latitude have more impact.
I assume you mean an Android HDMI dongle? How do you make that practical to use? I tried two (Android 4.x), but controlling them with a wireless mouse (no multi touch) gets really old, especially if you need to type something.
The constant downloading of backdrops bugged me, too. You can reduce the bandwidth by setting up a Google photo album with two small images. Two, because it won't work with a single-image album.
Redesigning CPU logic at such a fundamentel level, manufacturing new litho masks, and ramping up production would take months if not over a year (if they have the capacity to manufacture so many new masks). And seriously, the fabs are running at close to maximum capacity; where would Intel get the capacity to produce repacements for all CPUs sold over the last few years on top of what they would be producing new?
The best you may hope for is a rebate worth 10% of the replacement value of the CPU. And even that is unlikely to happen IMO.
In practice, your proposal wouldn't make that much of a difference. People are already uploading copyrighted materials; as long as the copyright holder doesn't file a DMCA take-down notice, the material is available for free, even if it is technically not PD.
Lenovo announced in August that they would move to stock Android. I tried out a new Lenovo TAB 4 10 (low end device; they have a higher end "plus" as well) for a few hours and it looked pretty much stock to me, especially compared to Samsung. Can't say whether it will get major updates, though. Out of the box it did immediately get an OTA point update on Android 7.x.
Actually, I like my (11 inch laptop) thinkpad keyboard with trackpoint so much that I bought a usb thinkpad keyboard (with trackpoint) to replace my workplace desktop keyboard and mouse. Those desktop-keyboard designers are too creative with the shape of the left shift, right enter/backslash, and del keys. Moving the right hand all the way over the cursor pad and num pad to reach the mouse feels inefficient to me.
Disclusure: I'm an emacs user who uses keyboard shortcuts for arrows, pgup/pgdn, and del and I've remapped caps lick to control and use dvorak layout...
Back in the days, it was common to see tangles of cassette tape on the roadside. Apparently, car cassette players would sometimes eat the tape. I'd like to see you make such a tangle near-100% playable again.
Hardware real-estate is precious. You could use a multi-color notification light, but I already have trouble remembering which color means what.
Instead, just use a notification icon. Android supports screenshotting through 3rd-party apps, but will show an icon whenever a screenshot is being taken. The same could be done for the camera and microphone. Although the microphone may be troublesome in the case of always-on "ok google" detection.
It's the other way around: nuclear/coal power plants need base-load customers, not the other way around, because those power plants are cheap per kWh delivered, but cannot adapt to demand.
Power sources should really be categorized in one of three classes: 1. Flexible on-demand (natural gas, hydro, battery storage); 2. Base load (nuclear, coal); 3. Uncontrolled generation power (wind, solar).
If you add #3 to the net, you should add #1 to balance. Or do cross-continental balancing of #3 to make it behave like #2, but it requires expensive investments in long-distance transmission capacity.

Is that so? I don't think GSM phones (with SIM) can see their own phone number, similar to how you can't see your IP address when you're behind a NAT.
My (EU, SIM) Android phone, in settings / about phone / status shows "phone number: unknown".

1/2%, does that mean "between 1% and 2%" or 0.5% ?

Are you sure that it's burning fuel for firing limestone that emits CO2? Firing limestone is the chemical reaction CaCO3 --> CaO + CO2, after all.

A 100 hp car isn't using 100 hp all the time. Driving at constant speed is only 10% oof that.
My proposed category #3 is missing from that list.
