With all the resume tips being posted, heres another.
Keep it under 4 pages. I dont care if you have 25 years of experience, keep it 3 or fewer pages. I personally watched my manager THROW AWAY a bunch of 5-6 page resumes he had. Too much information. No one cares what you did in 1983.

I quit participating, after in early 1999 they took their stats offline and it took them well over 2 months to get it back online, depriving me of seeing how well I did each day compared to the rest of my team. I had 160 sun workstations cranking out keys nightly from 0000-0600 but there was no more excitement for me anymore without the stats.
SETI is a waste of cycles, and dnet isnt getting my cycles anymore. Is anything else available for linux? It seems a lot of those clients for cancer, genome, etc are windows/mac-only.
Frankly I'd replace konqueror with mozilla too, since mozilla isnt a steaming pile of crap that cant parse simple javascript, DHTML or some web forms correctly. And yes I am using KDE3.
IIRC, those links to the right are paid ads, so if someone searches for "scientology", its quite appropriate they show up, so I'm not sure where "spamming" comes in.
Now, if pro-scientology links were always listed first in the results section of any scientology-related google search. then you can claim shenanigans.:)
Thats a very interesting observation. Do you have any sources that refer to Nicholas Cage and his anti-scientology views? This isnt meant to dispute your claim, I'm just curious.:)
We have MusicChoice, and while they do play some of the stuff found on microwave rotation on the radio stations, they do play a lot of smaller/more obscure artists in the mix as well.
For example, I listen to the Alternative Rock channel most of the time, and while they will play endlessly-played bands like Linkin Park, Staind, and Nickelback, they will play stuff I'll never hear on the radio (at least here) like The Incredible Moses Leroy, Farrah, Luce, and Dub Pistols.
The digital music channels are the *ONLY* and I do mean *ONLY* thing I use my cable TV for. So its worth it for me to get quality music choices and not have to listen to the shit on the radio.
I also believe part of the reason that people arent springing the extra bucks on high speed access is the economy. 2nd place would be the fact that most of them havent experienced it first-hand to see really how bad modem dial-up is. Sure, many people might have fast web access in the office, but not everyone does.
As other people have pointed out, its not censorship, primarily because its not the government banning the films, but someone buying the film, editing out the parts they find objectionable and then passing it on to others.
You can still go to your local blockbuster/hollywood video/neighborhood video place and buy all the sex-and-violence-filled movies you want.:)
Its not even 800am US Eastern time yet, so of course almost all postings are from non-americans. Most US geeks are still in bed!
Give it a few hours and the troll who first complained about the site supposedly being US-centric despite having non-US websites listed, as well as the people complaining about the small 9/11 ribbon and message on the site will be modded into oblivion!
I wish I could meta-mod whoever called his post "insightful" though. Maybe ill just mark him as a foe instead.
Thats because he's using Windows 2000/IIS with ASP. I wonder if he realizes he'd be more secure and have a HELL OF A LOT better performance if he'd switch to Linux/*BSD with Apache and PHP.
This from a state that wont even let you pump your own fucking gas. Hardly surprising. What is it with NJ? Is it all the toxic waste screwing with their brains?
Not all places in the US are that lucky to have flat rate unlimited calling. I can think of 8 million poor saps with SBC/Ameritech in the Chicago area who dont....
They have that. Its the fonts module in the KDE Configuration program.
You have to copy them to that directory then use this wizard-like tool to install them, but its easy enough for a windows user to do without having to RTFM.
Redundant moderations arent eligible for meta-moderation.
Besides, moderation is a dumb idea for a site like this anyway. ACs should stay at 0 (I read at +1), trouble users should stay at 1, and there should only be a few people who can mod down the people who continuously post random offtopic crap.
And finally, "Funny" should not give you a +1 bonus. We all appreciate humor, but come on, moderation as it exists currently should be to promote intelligent posts, and demote random crap goatse posts.
When I was at a previous job my boss often made the comment that our Nextel phones (instant 2-way communicators, like a walkie-talkie with cell capability) created a generation of managers that cant make decisions on their own. Everyone was always chatting people up on their nextel before doing or saying anything.
I'd like to thank the submitter of the story for calling it a "weblog" instead of some lame-ass made-up-for-the-sake-of-making-a-name-up name like a "blog" or a "wiki".:)
WEBLOG! Say it with me, Jamie... its a WEBLOG!!!
*wishing we could strike "blog" and the rest of the baby-'leet from the planet*

Nice system, too bad it was the nail in Atari's coffin.
Its also why we have religion.

Well I wouldnt expect my accountant to bust out even a little simple perl code, so why are they worried about them handling Java and VB?
siri
Now if only the KDE team would fix all the bugs in konqueror, particularly its poor handling of javascript, dhtml, and inline plugins.
Its an awesome browser otherwise.

I meant trouble users should stay at -1. Maybe I'll use the preview button next time. ;)

How many end users do you think care about cookies? So google issues a cookie. So what? As you said... "Come on!"
It works, and you dont have to use cookies if you dont care to.
