Surface area. Chunks of iron have less surface area than this nanoscale stuff. The story does mention that many companies already use a coarser form of this to help purify the wastes.
That the source is kinda dodgy?
As one AC mentioned, it's not a site anybody's really heard about, and it was submitted anonymously.
Combine this with the way it reads. While Mr. Newell often made amusing responces to questions, they tend to at least have more humour than what was found in this interview. Not to mention the way the questions were posed.

Oh I have learned quite a bit. However, I've also found that it doesn't matter when commenting in places such as slashdot. They will be someone along to point out my mistakes. I may as well give them something to do.
Games are suppose to be fun to play, a way of exscaping reality.
Not a way of providing yourself an income. I thought this sort of thing when away when the so called dotcom boom fizzled.
Time for people to relise that there's more jobs out there than ones that involve sitting at a computer, and guess what, they do pay enough to live on.
Your home turf? The story wasn't about kentucky bluegrass...

Ah, but if they contributed in good faith, with code that's properly licensed (and more than likely they did) they're unlikely to attempt to pull a SCO.
They'd have even less grounds to do so than SCO (who have none it's looking like) and thier time and money would be better spent on furthing their product line (Maybe make Word Perfect a competitor again).
We're taking a step backwrds, with limiting the multiplayer games to 4 players.
While it adds to the need for tactics rather than the run around shooting everywhere, there's something to be said for playing larger objective oriented shooters.
Be even more amusing to think that the one person will get nailed and can prove that he doesn't have 99% of the copyrighted files that they say he has, then sues the RIAA.
Of course, seeing that the RIAA is getting details based on IP (I belive, from what was mentioned dureing the last story), this won't happen. But one can dream.
The problem with this apreoach is the server's data retention poliy. You're not even going to come close to haveing an archive that extends back a year, let alone longer.
I know there's some servers that you're lucky if they still have the post a week later on the server.
Unless of course there's a way to run a program that'll reset the bios to the defaults.
My most amusing security antic involved the computers at the high school lab. It was decent security against your average user... however the big flaw was the fact there was a C++ compiler. Insert disk with program to kill the bios, open it in the C++ ide, select run, reset and boot from floppy... kill the other protection.
Never did get in trouble for it, mainly because I was careful enough to reinstate the security after I was done.
But I'd suggest warm clothing if you plan on staying past october, particuarly if you spend any time in canada or much of the central to northen US after that point.

It can be recorded. However, unless a person wants to buy a copy from every show of every song... they make due with just a single CD.

Damn right you AC. Had my nose in a sci-fi book the whole time.

Beacuase you've got zero sense of humour? It's a joke... a play on words...

The shows got bought out/so over sponsored by certain companies that they lost their viewership because of their bias. Thus the shows gotdropped.
try looking on the gamecube. http://sega.com/games/post_gamegame.jhtml?PRODID=1 0331
epson injets have one true problem. If the print heads get clogged, you've got a good paperweight, or plenty of work to do.
Besides, the guy is looking for a lazer printer/copier.

Maybe it should be called a "lite" client.
Like ate so called lite produts, it's missing some of the stuff that makes the normal so good.
well, judging by some of the stuff that gets posted, we've definatly got some vegitables on slashdot...
I said it'd be amusing, not that it'd ever happen.
Myself, I'm not a music uploader, nor an american, so I have little to worry about over all of this... it's just another form of entertainment.

I said a cable, not a telephone trunk line!
That makes one wonder...
Where do you plug the cable into a person?

Let's just say it gets a mite chilly.
Just grow out all that hair... nobody would recognise you, and you'd likely be missidentified as bigfoot anyway.
For a long time. particuarly the mach 3's. they're bloody expensive.
They're small, easily stealable, and a lot of time they resell them for a tidy profit.
