Actually, it's sort of true, sort of not. There's a tax added to audio cassette tapes and blank audio CD's (AFAIK, not blank "multi media" or "data" CD's) that goes to the publishers of music, which allows one to use it to copy copyighted works.

But who buys the over priced "music" CD-R's?

Information for information (and supplies as nessisary, but that's less often). It takes up less space, and you don't need to rendevous to preform the trade.

It looks close to a SW version of NWN... although, there's a few big differences.

    1) You can play as only human.
    2) Limited classes. Soldier, scout and scoundrel to start, with Jedi classes opening up later in game.
    3) No multiplayer!

and you know what? These issues likely have the existance of SWG to blame.

But I agree with the copyright law amendments... although, if they're passed in the US, they still mean little to me. I'm not American. :)

Not to mention the need to trace exaclly who owns the rights to what. There's been various mergers, selloffs of divisions, not to mention companies folding in the years we're talking about.

Plus, as mentioned in another reply, there'd be the need to develop a less acessable ROM format, and a offical emulator as well (to prevent more "piracy")

Heck, in the end this won't save even wal-mart any money. They've got a reasonable inventory control system... just thier buyers are frigging morons who over purchase and ship piles of crap to the stores that have no market for the item, and don't ship them the items that sell like hotcakes.
