By the same reckoning, it seems we ought to make sure that left-handers, Latvian-Americans, and Linux enthusiasts are all represented in Congress. After all, there are plenty of minorities not based on geography.
Sure. What's your point? That if we can't represent all minorities, then we shouldn't try to represent any? That's absurd.
There's nothing disenfranchising about one person's vote counting exactly as much as another's.
Uh, yes there is. Unless you and I have different meanings of the word "disenfranchising", I'd say it's pretty disenfranchising that minority opinions would never be heeded. Why do you think all states have two senators, regardless of population?
No, I think what he meant was that because slave states had greater representation in the Electoral College, their (presumably racist) opinions held more sway.
Human: what is the third digit of pi? ALICE: Earth is the third planet. Human: what color is the sky when the sky is grey? ALICE: An artist taught me that the sky can contain any color. Human: What color is my car when my car is grey? ALICE: Let me guess: white? Human: no, grey ALICE: Are you serious? Quite honestly, I wouldn't worry myself about that.
I think the flaw is that the pins can't be pushed beyond the position that allows the lock to open. So if you push your pen hard enough, the pins will leave divits in the pen in the right place.
If the pins were free to move past the open position, they wouldn't resist the pen, and wouldn't leave the divits.
I'm going to venture a guess that upwards of 90% of the linux community just assumes that the package they downloaded is secure, simple due to the fact it is open source.
Yes, Mr. Troll, and 100% of the Windows community does the same, because they have no choice.
Your journal entry has been archived, so I can't reply there, but...
I think you might misunderstand the meta-mod system. It's based on fairness, not correctness. The options are not "agree" and "disagree". Just because you wouldn't mod a post the same as someone else doesn't imply that their choice was unfair.
I second this. Please never use this acronym because it's so damn stupid.
Sorry, I read your whole post and I still don't know what "the foot" is. Can you explain?
No, I think what he meant was that because slave states had greater representation in the Electoral College, their (presumably racist) opinions held more sway.
This is an instance of the TIFF-EP format. It specifies things like values for certain tags, byte ordering, etc. It's not a completely new format.
Yeah, looks like Star Trek has started a tradition whereby the first of each new kind of ship is named Enterprise.
The instruction cache is 12K micro-ops. Doesn't that equal 12 milli-ops?
Hey, the World Trade Center is still in there.

Human: no, grey

Ok, I guess you're smarter than Isaac Newton then.
If the pins were free to move past the open position, they wouldn't resist the pen, and wouldn't leave the divits.
Not really. There are already several open-source 3D engines like OGRE and Crystal Space 3D.
...that all "yeah but IBM is only doing it for the money" posts after this moment are now redundant. Please mod accordingly.
Step 2: criticize them for their motives and/or plans.
Sounds like air-tight logic to me.
Do you have an alternative?
Man, it is worth the download just for the Find toolbar.
Wow, you are one lazy bastard.

Uh, I assure you, they thought of this.
Isn't that transparency, rather than translucency? I can clearly see images beneath the windows in question.
They definitely should have done whatever was necessary to keep the name as just "bzip".
